M. Last wednesday Carlos Earl Clayton was gunned down on the side of cooper lane police say. Theyre trying to figure out why. Our detectives have leads but nothing substantial that would lead to an arrest. Reporter claytons family and friends believe he was just walking home. He would not have hurt anyone. Thats why i dont understand why someone can just come and take his life away from us. Reporter tonight all along cooper lane there were people who say they knew clayton and theyre devastated. Hes the one that said all the prayers, you know, the grace and were going to miss that. Reporter all of that pain is peppered with questions for people who might have information and for the police who were at the scene. And the kids have to detour or did not go to school at all because his body was laying out flat with nothing over it i mean just laying there. Reporter they want to know why. We are not understanding why was he out there so long . Reporter a spokesperson for the Police Department says they were trying to preserve evidence. You dont want to disturb the body in a case like this because there could be substantial evidence left on the body. Reporter the family says they havent heard any of that. No one has explained to me why. Reporter but right now their main concern is seeing an arrest. I just please, please and pray that if this was your child or your nephew or your uncle, someone would come forward.
