What this showed is if you are an adolescent or young woman, before you get pregnant, if you drink, alcohol you increase risk of Breast Cancer by 35 percent. Wow. So look, folks, again. Everything in moderation. If you dont want any risk, then dont drink a lick of alcohol but i am a believer in moderation and carp diem living your life. If you are a Young College woman and you are lanning to have children i wouldnt ban alcohol, i would do it in moderation. Moderation. It was back in early august that steve first advertise covered a small lump on the right, on his chest the 41 yearold decided to wait until after he return from vacation with his family to get a physical. His doctor assume the lump was probably just a cyst, but scheduled an ultrasound for steve just to be sure. Soon after the former star baseball player, was sent for a mammogram, followed by a biopsy, followed by a diagnosis that ultimately change his life. The cancer was not only in his right breast but in his left breast as well. As one of 1,000 men diagnosed with male Breast Cancer, steve and his wife, amy, decided he should have a bilateral mastectomy and it is that decision that saved his life. Breast cancer is very rare, it is about one in a thousand men. Men have a predisposition not to go to the doctor when they feel a mass. Were you that way steve. No, i went, immediately. You went right to the doctor. A week later. What, i have Breast Cancer. It took about a month, going true scans and appointment, so within that month period i started to to research and we were kind of prepared for that news. I think doctor naik was more upset when he had to tell us the day after labor day and we were prepared for it. Can you ever be prepared to get that news. No, not at all but im so proud of steve not the just for his strength and his positive attitude for all this but for his compassion for others and really wanting to let other people know how important self checks are. You told me when we were talking when you fund that lump did you think you had Breast Cancer. You are very aware. I work with a lot of cancer organizations, bringing home home, cancers for kyle, we have a lot of friend going through cancer right now but other types of cancer. Im very aware of the disease. I just, little education on myself on my own and did a little Google Search and you read up about it. Doctor, would you say most guys dont even know this is possible. Exactly. I was at another event last night, i mentioned it and oh, toss that happen. It is what i get. They dont even know that they have breasts and they can get Breast Cancer. They wait very long to get it checked and then of more advanced disease when it could be very treatable. I think we call this area of our body our chest but we have breasts. Exactly. Steve was mentioning earlier too it took him a while to say Breast Cancer, he kept saying he had cancer on his chest. Were you embarrassed. A little bit, it took me a few weeks to say that i had Breast Cancer but i knew by saying that it will maybe able to go to the doctor. Now you are wearing a shirt. I have breasts too. We have got contacted by male Breast Cancer coalition to give out this information. Help me through this. Should we be doing breast examinations. Women do stories about while in the shower Different Things you can do, different tests. Same as in women we ask you to be aware of your body, when you get out of the shower, look at yourself in the mirror, raise your hand up, if there is any discharge, a cemetery, one breast is larger than the other. You are right, alex. We have done these. Would hen say they take their fingers and they rub around should i be doing that the exact same thing. Wait, im not taking high shirt off and that is not only for my own embarrassment but for the audience because they dont want to see. That so what would you do. You know what you you are doing. Would the lump stick out more. It usually does stick out more in males and it is easier to detect in males but males are more stubborn. What does it feel like. It feels hard like a marple what did you think it was. It was either a scissor a tumor. So when i did the research and saw it was a cyst, it will hurt. Tumor it will not have any pain. My Little Friends did not have any pain even though i was trying to make it hurt. I kind of of knew what it was. How are you doing now. Great, two and a half weeks. I can say with my positive attitude and doctor naiks care, over at the Community Hospital they have done a great job. I feel great. Two and a half weeks. Since my surgery. Yes. Mastectomy. October 4th. What does that look like i mean we know in women have a mastectomy the breasts are gone. So, do you reconstruction what does it look like. For men it is usually not as much breast tissue so we take the nip he will and it just looks like a flat chest. You have a little scar, on the other side, some cases you can keep the nip he will and we can reconstruct it. So you can just multiple Plastic Surgery options you can do. Put nipples back on. We can reconstruct it, and you can go swimming, and most people may not even know. Man, im glad we did this. Yes, i have learned a lot. Yes. Detect in the shower. American Cancer Society doesnt have any recommendations how often you we just ask you be aware of any changes and your body. Is there no recommendations right now but just know,.
