Well the reason it hasnt been raised they cant agree on what tax toss cut to make everybody have some kind of pressure in this deal, meaning, the governor said ill agree to raise the gas tax if you guys agree to cut the sales tax 1 . And the assembly agreed with that but not the senate. So he has signed this ex second tiff order, what the gas tax does, it pays to fix all of the roads and bridges and mass transportation. So now were running out of money for the latest transportation project, only emergency project, because, remember, june 30th, he shot down he shutdown about a thousand road project, and said from here on in, since running out of money, only fix the roads and bridges that are about to fall down. Were in the going to fix this just to keep it maintain. So he shuts down all of these project. Nothing done since june 30th, last time he says i have to take money out of the general fund now, thats the money for everything else, thats already budgeted like schools or whatever, whenever i need it for an emergency road job. Community rallies together after Children Playing outside on a warm summer night, ends in gunfire. Shows six year old nala running from gunfire before struck by 20 shots fired into a car in west oaklane last wednesday. Just two days later, on ashmead street, East Germantown, mahaj brown in a car headed home when police say rival groups opened fire in the neighborhood. Ooh shots were fired. Six people were hit, including mahaj. Back in july, 15 year old barnes shot and killed over apparent dispute over basketball games, and police just yesterday released this video of a man wanted for pulling a gun on a worker at Dunkin Donuts while that workers young daughter stood just feet away. Commissioner ross, good to see you. We will ask you some questions that probably dont have answers, but were you at that rally in. I was. What can you say to people. We have to remain vigilant as a community, and i am talking about the partnerships between police and community, we have a lot of partnership, you can see from the people there, i know the people present there, theyre committed to helping us stave off this violence. But it is a very challenging issue, sent people to chicago, as well, to deal with who other cities having the same issue, and it is a a problem, but working hard, we will continue to do. Where do you even start then when it comes . I think it is great you guys are having meetings, other cities dealing with similar things, but when it comes to philly where do you start . In the schools . Talking to the kids, but handling of guns . Mom and dad . Just all of that, no one thing. You are not going have a pan see that just involves one approach, i mean, you got to deal with families, deal with gun violence in terms of number every guns on the street, obviously have to work within, tweak what we do, but do you have think about what would happen if we werent there but kudos for those men and women who do what they do every day. Listening to the police chief, Police Commissioner of the city of milwaukee, wisconsin. He seemed to be blaming all of the violence on poverty, lack of jobs and those are factors here, tooing. Just look at any major city, always factors not the only thing, but when you deal with the issues, it will make this problem even more stubborn, until you can move that poverty needle as well as issues regarding families and schools and things like that, again, there is no one answer. Do you think have a heavier police presence, people i guess the Neighborhood Watch programs are more intense . Youre not going to find a police chief having more Police Officers is going to make a difference. Target certainer . Right. Just the presence. But be careful about how do you, that as well. You dont want to alienate communities in your effort to drive down crime. So this is delicate balance. Clearly, we want to get our Police Department up to where it should be, and thats no fault of anybody, just were struggling with recruits. What they it, institute a mandatory heat period, where players from every high School Football team in the state of pennsylvania need to come in the week before the season officially starts, needs to be five practice sessions provided, and the kids needs to participate in three consecutive days. So that they can acclimate to the heat when we start officially on august 15th. In the past you kind of staggered, starting at 6 00 in the morning, then coming back later in the evening . As much as possible, so last week, that heat acclaim aches periods on the days with we were allowed five hours, we came in 7 00 in the morning, to 9 00 at night, then again seven to nine at night. Also as a coach, worried about how theyre doing on the feel, youre also tasks with having this vigil, making sure you are identifying whether or not these kids are becoming de hydrate in the. Absolutely, so we work very closely with our trainer, kate mcfadden, to make sure that were doing Everything Possible to make sure the kids are hydrated throughout practice. And one of the other things that you do, is you actually weigh this these kids before the practice, and weigh them after the practice to see how much water weight they lost . Right. If the players loses 2 pounds in the morning practice before can he practice in the evening practice, he has to consume enough liquid that his 2 pounds are back on.
