It is lehigh and aramingo. People are around here, whether in a car or waiting for septa bus or just hanging out and shopping almost 24 hours a day. As we pan left from the accident impact scene, 200 feet of drag marks and blood. All along lehigh avenue after a 35 year old man riding a vespa scooter was hit by this aztek suv. It is a pontiac. They dont make them any more. The aztek was making a right from aramingo, south, onto lehigh, and then hit this guy, right after the under pass here, and drabbing him 200 feet. You will notice, on the aztek, new york state license plates, thats why police now know who the registered owner is, they just need to find out who was driving it at the time. According to witnesses, after the striking vehicle struck the small motorcycle, it caused the victim to fall off of the motorcycle and the striking vehicle drags this victim about 200 feet west, 2400 block of lehigh avenue. Witnesses saw the victims body underneath the vehicle, as the vehicle continued to operate westbound on lehigh. Well, as most times you hear us report on hit and runs, it is the hit part of the hitandrun that kills this time it may have been the run that killed. The first 200 feet that far run with that 35 year old man who was riding the scooter, dragged underneath an s. U. V. And it is the last birthday he will celebrate tragically cologne was shot and killed in his suv wednesday afternoon, killed, just a few blocks away from his house, now, police say cologne drove up to the block and stopped for some reason, with his window down, when someone came up, fired several gunshots, striking him in the head, chest and arm. Neighbors found him in the vehicle after hearing the shots, and he died about 30 minute later. I was in the shower. I hear like between four to six bullets. I thought like construction people, like, doing some construction. And i just ignore it. As soon as i see the cops, and ambulance, and, you know, just i was so shocked. My heart reaches out to them. So a lot of times they try to commit suicide. And it doesnt really hit them until theyre later in life. Now the law awe lays them to bring lawsuit, assuming the legislation goes through until the age of ooh. People have burried it . Think about it, this happened to mike rossi 13 years old. How do you process sexual abuse when you are 13 years old . What you do is you bury it. Right. Then what you do you punish yourself and you self medicate by taking drugs, taking alcohol, so for the, then you dont realize, maybe under therapy, when you are in your fours, 50s, so this law is a seat change, it is great for victims every sexual abuse. What are the chances of it going through. Pretty good. The vote in the house was 108 to 15. Think about. That will thats overwhelming support in the house of representatives. It also changes criminal statute, mike, more important, under the olds law, that the statute of limitations wasnt until 50 years old. Is it only this specific topic of sex abuse or, you know what i mean, or would it cover other crimes . Covers other things in the sexual abuse field, yes, not only limited to, you know, just specific act, but it is actually pretty broad. Say that something happened, is it cases from here on out . If it pass this is. Real good question. Does it go back . Very good questionment mike rossi put an amendment in that makes it retroactive. So even people right now that are 35 years old, that cant bring lawsuit, if this law passes, and if the retroactive provision passes, they then would be able to bring lawsuits going forward. So, this is really crucial. On the criminal, mike, i just want to point out, now what they are saying under this new law is there is going to be no statute of limitations from the criminal stands point which follows the punishment really for murder, and for the statute of limitations with mid, so now, no matter when it is discovered someone committed sexual abuse under this new law, there will be no statute of limitations and they can be prosecuted for the crime which is great. Because a lot of those sexual abusers get away for it, forever. Thats right. Actually, jeff cole and i are doing a report on somebody, it will be coming up in a couple of weeks, of sexual abuser never been brought to justice, but maybe as a result of the report that were going to do, maybe it will happen. But if it wasnt for all of the kids that are on their way to school, we would probably only have about five protesters in the middle of the street. Really attracting more attention, and what you can see here, this is from our camera, that is at the corner of fifth and market. So, were looking from fifth street down to fourth. You got all of the buses, all of the cars, and whats happening is folks are going around the block, so just gridlock here in old city, and again, instead of moving the protesters off to the sidewalk, theyre detouring traffic, and thats just causing residual gridlock here. Now you got another officer just pull up. We got couple of Police Officers on bicycles, we got one septa Police Officer here. And again, if the police could clear the sidewalk, and ring the bell, and get all of the kids into school, i know when im out front sometimes talking to the kids, 8 00 is their start time. So, they ring that bell. Get those kids in the class. We will be left with only about five people in the middle of the street here. Again, it is a situation hopefully the police can diffuse before it get out of hand. But i find it quite interesting. There is only about five protesters. Yes, thats what hes been saying. Five People Holding a sign. It is everyone else that distracted attention here. And there is one vehicle, i feel sorry for this maybe you guys can see . Feel sorry for this one woman that was in the vehicle, that attempted to make the turn, and went right into the protesters holding the sign there mike, you can see. Well the kids are getting involved now, at the school nextdoor. Everybodys jumping around. They got their cell phones out there. Again, there is more kids from school, there is only five People Holding that sign there. And you see the officer trying to get everybody out of there . And it is a situation that, again, can get out of hand pretty quickly. Well, why arent there more Police Officers i do not i do nt know. Amazing in a busy time of the morning you only have two philadelphia Police Officers, and one septa officer. They wont let this car go. It is remarkable, that there arent more Police Officers trying to handle this. My goodness. And this has been going on now for over a half hour. Not only, you know, i know folks have been out there obviously making some phonecalls, see how quickly now, all of those kids, student we call them, all just casino of gathering around. Our friends over at master school, which is right our neighbor for years, you know, they have to be disappointed in what their student rent doing here. Because they are really good kids.
