And the winds are still a factor today, surge not as windy as yesterday. But weve got the 18mile per hour wind up in mount pocono. See some breezes kick up throughout the day. High temperature, though, 62 degrees. Your sunset time is not until 6 02. We encourage to you get out, enjoy today. Because it will be a whole different story this weekend. Bob kelly . No problems or delays at all into or out of the kop shopping area. So off to pretty good start. Ninetyfive, not bad at all through the construction zone, most of the construction, picked up this situation in the neighborhood. More from steve in a moment. There is still some power outages, folks without power, since monday. A lot of traffic lights are out, thats really from a traffic standpoint this morning. Just be careful, it is a four way stop. As you come through the neighborhood. It is so dark and some intersections, dont even know youre coming up to intersection, then of course the little ones will be out there waiting for the school bus. Packing up the cones here on 295. Northbound, as you work your way up in toward wilmington. No problems on septas Regional Rail lines. Septa said none of the buses are detoured through the neighborhood where theyve had the power problem, but there could be some delays during the morning rush hour. Karen, thomas, back over to you. Thank you will, bob. We want to get right to the breaking news happening in south jersey, there is a driver on the run from police who veered out of control, and then crashed that vehicle into a home, but then once the crash happened, got out of the car and ran away. Our jenny joyce there on the scene in pens grover with what we know. Jenny, good morning. Reporter good morning, karen, thats right. The driver took off after ramming into the fence and the home here on this property. The four passengers, who were also in that vehicle, are cooperating with police. The accident happened around 1 30 this morning. According to officers, pennsgrove police were trying to pull the driver over, but the car would not stop. At some point, it lost control, went off the road, and plowed into the fence here on east line streetment took out a chunk of the home, into the basement. Carneys point police the next town over responded to the accident scene, according to police, the driver, again, had four passengers, in the vehicle, three females, one male, one female was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. People who live in the home say theyre okay. They tell us this is not the first time that someone has lost control and driven up onto their property. The Property Owners son says this is the house he grew up in, his parents, certainly upset about the damage to their home, they are relieved that they were not hurt. Very fortunate, house structurally sounds, got a hole in it, but still structurally sound. So were good. Both parent use walkers getting around, so just another thing we got to add to the list. Theyve been in this house for however, how old am i . Fiftythree years. So this is theirs. Weve seen information this neighborhood. Like i say, there is no need to run, just pull over. Because i say theyre lucky they didnt get killed. Based on damage speed likely a factor, police have not said what triggered that initial traffic stop. Thank you, appreciate that. 9 11 Service Fully restored to all at t customers our area after an outage last evening. Delaware, chester, Montgomery County resident affected by this outage. In Delaware County the fix just done short time ago. The outage wasnt limited to just to our area, occurred in other areas including texas, maryland, florida. Developing this morning, hundreds of customers still without power. Two days after a fire at peco substation, that was the scene two days ago. Crews, theyve been working nonstop to get them out of the dark. Our steve keeley in the dark with them this morning. Updating us on peco progress. High there, steve. If youre one of those people without power, i cant put these people on angry because theyre so angry and fed up with getting no answers except for us, we cant tell them, because yesterday they said hopefully back on at noon. The funny thing the number down just below 1,000, i just check. 933. Thats 933 build addresses, so affecting more than that number of people. Because some houses, i just had woman with three kids, trying to get them dressed, washed, bathed, by light on her cell phone. And you can see the people when theyre in their dark homes on the street. This is what the effect s this is how dark it is in these neighborhoods without powerful tv camera light. All right . This is 24th and clearfield. You may have seen a septa bus go by. The next block, a little tiny street called justin street. Everybodys without power. Theyve got at least street lights on justin street. Thats why why you see the corner house lit in the background there. But the street lights above us not lit. Here you go. Look at 24th street. Both sides, you hear the hum after persons generator, up on the second floor. Bob kelly, i saw generators chained to traffic lights and plugged into the track lights, where i didnt see any generators yesterday. So i still havent seen any traffic light out. But you can see, everywhere you look, look, we spin back around now, see people Walking Around with their camera lights. Look down here to the street. You see here comes somebody. And it is everybody trying to charge their phones. So there is a lot of cars running. And i know, karen, you were saying, hey, good thing it is not cold yet before it gets cold. And bob keeps saying it is mild. If youre outside. Yes, it is comparably to normal. But everybodys shivering out here, there is a breeze, these people have no heat. So even though it is 53 degrees, everybody with power, i guarantee has their heat on overnight, nobody is sleeping in their homes at 53 degrees. Nobody sets their thermostat in the winter to 53 degrees. These poor people are shivering out here because their gas isnt working, thermostats arent working theyre telling us. This is the way everybodys getting around, by camera light. We talked to one of the individuals, who came home from work, after doing a 18 hour shift, and was extremely disappointed, that he wasnt being able to cook his own breakfast, come into warm house, here as much edited pg13 version every his interview. Whats life been like for the last couple of days . Rough, a struggle, been a struggle. So are we going to get some electric . This is not electric, it affect the gas. Some people stoves dont work without electricity. Some people thermostats dont work without electricity. So we are without heat and electric. All we got is water. How we surviving . How are we surviving, honestl honestly . Were going to come back live. Dont turn your light on chris, come here. We got a couple here. Have you had power at all for the last two days . , no still without power. How has life been like . Dark. Like it is now on tv . Just like it is now. Well put our tv light on. Dont look into the camera because of the first light wife youve seen all night. How do you get ready without light . With a phone light. Im looking at your tears down your cheeks, youre cold in your house . Really cold. Seems like it is colder home than it is out here. Youre wearing hearts and stuff like this in the house too, right . Yes, yes we are. Are you hoping, now, where are you going snow. Were going to work. Hopefully when we come home the lights will be on. But unfortunately we dont know whats going on. We called peco. They said they dont know when it will common. My problem is that like people that surrounding us have lights on, we dont. You know, very confusing. Right. And youre walking in the middle of the street, you dont know what you are going to step on. Look how dark the sidewalk is. Yes. Thats not safe walking in the street with just hoping somebody sees your phone, right . Of course, exactly. Well good luck. And at least at warning youll have heat and lights. Correct. Correct. Yes. And hopefully, i know, im talking to peco, theyre doing all they k were seeing lots of guys working, theyre falling over themselves trying to apologize constantly. Every time you go to ask them a question the first thing they do, look, we want to say how sorry we r so theyre trying. Yes. We can we dont blame peco, it is something out of our control, so things happen. Well, hopefully more nice customers like you. Thank you, steve. All right, here you go. And you can see, the viewers, they know you by first name. But obviously theyve not been watching the show the last couple of daysment look how sad this is. So if he didnt have that phone, look how dark it is. She had a light blue jacket on. Youre not going to see that if youre a driver. So take it easy if youre driving in north philly, and several blocks, i wish i could give you the whole glid, but it is a tough second morning for a lot of people in north philadelphia right now, guys. As we know daily life has to go on. Hopefully today will be the day for them, thank you, steve. Police this morning searching for two men they say are responsible for brutal attack in port richmond. Just brave. Time now 5 17. Sue, if there is anything you want to do today, today is the day to do it outside. Thats right. Breaking weather news, National Weather service just issued Winter Weather advisory for tomorrow. , in the morning, in effect until noon for the areas that might get some significant accumulation of snow tomorrow. Talking the upper half of bucks and montgomery counties, lehigh valley, berks county, pocono mountains, two to 4 inches of snow possible in those areas. Thanks to the system thats coming our way tomorrow. It is not here yet. But lets time it out. In the future cast, we start with 5 00 a. M. Tomorrow. Here you see, thats when the snow will probably start to edge into the philadelphia area. We will already have been started to the places that already have the advisory in effect. And we will see what happens as the computer models kind of come together for tomorrow, whether philadelphia will be included in that Winter Weather advisory. But regardless, it looks like a messy morning now. The one saving grace, for the places with lighter accumulations, it is a warm ground out there. Weve had temperatures in the 60s for the past couple of days. So a lot of that for the pavement, at least, when it hit the ground, any accumulation we get, will probably be on grassy surfaces but it is the timing of this storm. 7 00 a. M. , 8 00 a. M. , 9 00 a. M. , and looks like rounds one is out of here by noon. But then there is round two with wrap around moisture of this clipper system which could give us snow squawl or shower in the afternoon on friday. So, round one, rounds two, and then the cold air rushing in after that for saturday and for sunday. How much in philadelphia . These are comparisons of our three computer models that we usually rely on north american model, globe he will model, european model saying anywhere from half inch to inch and a quarter for philadelphia itself. Right now, it is hard to imagine, there is snow in the forecast, because it is 50 degrees already. And most of our other temperatures are in the 50s, still little breezy out there, not as windy as yesterday, but some places have wind gusts, like wildwood, of 21 miles an hour, 30 miles an hour up in the pocono mountains. So yesterday, we got to the six 60s again. It was high of 64 degrees. Today one more 62. Fortyone tomorrow. With that snow, mostly in the morning, but then, another round possible maybe a little snow flurry or squawl in the afternoon. Then it is in the threes, both days of the weekend. The nights are in the teens. 40 degrees on monday. And then the possibility of another potentially significant storm on tuesday, bob kelly, of next week. Good morning, everybody. It is 5 19 on this thursday morning. We are looking good, downtown charlie brown. Now, the vine expressway is open but when you come into center city in the dark tunnel here, the crews are still working above on the parkway, you see the bright lights up, all working around here, work crews got the cranes up again, all part of the reconstruction of the overpasses. Looking good, on 95, as you head down toward the airport. No problems at Philadelphia International airport. I just checked with the tote board. But if youre going to be traveling tomorrow, it will be different story. Depending upon what your travel Business Plans are for the next couple of days, airport may want to check ahead or adjust the flight time to move away from tomorrow morning. No problems coming down 95, we flip on around the substation fire from the other day. We heard from steve, the rough go here, the folks are having in the neighborhood. Again, it is pitch dark right now in that neighborhood. So where the lights are out, traffic lights are out, just be careful, the little ones, again, still going to school, school buses are still coming through. Septa says they dont have any detours, because of the traffic lights, but some of the buses in that area could just be delayed because of the extra volume. And were going for breakfast, one of my favorite days of the week. Each and every thursday we pick different spot, different neighborhood. Bob, thank you so much. Breaking right now in south jersey, a driver on the run from police veers out of control. And leaves destruction, then makes break for t right now theyre trying to find him. Lets get out to jenny joyce with what we know, she in pennsgrove with the latest on all of this. Jenny, good morning. Reporter good morning, taking a look at the damage and elderly homeowners are relieved they werent hurt in the mess. One person was transported to a local hospital. The woman was one of four passengers inside the car that crash here on east line street. The driver took off running. The accident happened around 1 30 this morning. According to police, pennsgrove officers were trying to pull the driver over but the car would not stop. At some point it lost control. Went off the road. Plowed into the fence. Took out a chunk of the home into the basement. Carneys point police the next town over responded to the accident scene. According to police, the driver had four passengers in the vehicle, three females, one male, one of those females was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. People who live in the home say theyre okay. They tell thus is not the first time that someone has lost control and driven up on to the property. The Property Owners son says this is the house he grew up in, his parents are older, cleaning up this mess, is an added headache. But theyre lucky theyre okay. Mother gave me a call. Said somebody ran into the house. We got here. Just finishing up with taking the people, putting them in ambulances. Apparently they were running from the cops, lost control, hit the house. Looking at the car, the females head hit the windshield. Actually came through the windshield, because there was hair in the windshield. So dont think she was driving. We think there was a male driving. We think there was a male in the back seat. Both parent, you know, use walkers getting around. So just another thing we got to add to the list. Reporter back out here, live look at the damage. Because of the extent of the damage, police do believe speed was a factor in this crash. Again, police still looking for the driver involved. Thomas, back to you. Horrible scene there, all right, jenny, thank youment time 5 37. Just under a thousand customers remain without power this morning, two days after a fire at a substation cut electricity to customers in the area. Our steve keeley on the scene this morning with the very latest, good morning to you, steve. Reporter well, weve moved locations. We are on one of the main streets of the city. Bob kelly youll probably love this live shot. This is allegheny avenue. There is the big septa depo across the street, look at the size of this generator, coedges dentally it is white, same color as the flag you wave when you give up. And it seems that they figured out only way theyll power a lot of north philadelphia is to bring in outside Power Generators. Here is a smaller generator. Look at all of the cable they got. Theyre working to hook this up to this neighborhood. Were on bailey street. It is not just homes. It is businesses. Chris, come out with me. This is the allegheny mini market. At bailey and allegheny. Not open. We talked about the food. You know they got a lot of stuff in coolers, ice cream, meats, probably all gone. Catch your breath, chris, because youre about to walk four blocks on live tv with a camera. As we go down allegheny, which is again heavily traveled street, the sun is coming up. Here is another big generator just brought in, white one on that one, so three generators. We will walk down the street, now at 26th and allegheny. You can see pickup trucks with peco, and you can see big tractor trail thats are bringing in this big equipment. Peco trucks all over the place. But as you look down every side street, complete darkness down 26th street, each way, keep walking, chris. Now, notice this bob kelly. The reason the traffic lights are working, chris of, right here, you missed this, here is a generator. This will be the first of many smaller generators, and youll notice this, this one, not chained up, but cabled up. But police are keeping a close eye on these things, theyre worth couple of thousand bucks. But thats why the traffic lights are working. All right, chris, walk as fast as you can to the next intersection. It is street after street. This is how you get the number and you see why a thousand not people but homes and businesses that are without power. Another small side street. Completely in the dark. Now 40 hours about since this. Across the street, you see the kay laudromat. Maybe you dont see it because it is so dark. And maybe our camera light is helping you see some things. But if we didnt have this camera light on, you wouldnt see anything. And it is trash day coincidentally. Good luck to those guys if theyre coming in the dark. But there is the laudromat. Another business not in business now. And so the loss also mounting for them, as well. You cant run washers and dryers without electricity. So this, what you are looking down, now stillman street. And still without power on stillman. And there is the trash trucks, trying to pick up the trash in the dark, with the street loaded with trash. So this is what we were talking about, when you are walking, watch out, the streets are loaded with garbage and debris which you cant see at night. There is the news truck over there. We parked it in central location. So at least the septa bus drivers are happy to see these generators, which youll hear one humming up as i walk up to 25th street, which hopefully is powering that realtime crime camera, as well, for the philly police. There is allowed err generator with the chain on it. And here we go again. Twentyfifth street, some people have personal generators to the right. So theyve got some lights. And here is another of the many peco trucks were seeing, when we got to this corner, there was peco truck on every corner. So you can see, they are working around the clock, trying to get the power back on. And as we look straight ahead, you can see, a little sunrise. All right, chris, walk as fast as you can, we will ends up at the next corner, and thats a citco station up there. Another business without power and so out every business. And the local gas station there, where a lot of people would probably fill up on coffee, and gasoline, and, again, shutdown, and in the another Power Generator keeping that light going. So the good news is traffic is flowing, saferly, even though they dont have street lights above them. Sunlight should help everybody get back. But as we look down, chris, you can see this, look at this side street here. Come here, chris. Lets gave you a look without the camera light on. Just gave you a sense. And again, we are getting our first batches of sunlight. But there is a street. Here comes a resident in the dark walking in the street in the dark dealing with this complete darkness again two mornings in a row. Hopefully theyve power back on soon. Steve, so many people are dealing with that, hopefully that power will get back on soon. Thank you for the great reporting. We appreciate it, thank you so much.
