About to crews into friday. Today, tomorrow will be nights, maybe personal day. Right . Little lunch out snide. Thursday, oh, i just got to get through friday. And just crew through tomorrow. We got to get through the fog first, not talking the fog usually in your head this time of day, talking literal fog, pea soup, under dense fog advisory, so on this National Play tennis day, you see, budd which his tennis racket. It is going to be hard to see what youre doing, at least in the Early Morning hours, temperatures are in the chilly 30s, 40s, now, we will recover later on, once we get some sunshine. But it is going to take a while. This dense fog advisory, for all of the counties you see highlight in the effect until 10 00 a. M. , and we have a few showers even to the south of our viewing area. Down around the Eastern Shore of maryland. Just a lot of moisture in the air. Were socked in in philly. Pottstown, trenton, atlantic city, wilmington, lancaster even, not included in the advisory. At least not yet. 49 degrees already in philadelphia. Well above the normal high for this time in february, sunrise time, 6 43, but wu wont be seeing sunshine right away, weve got 37 degrees in reading, 35 in allentown, and 39 degrees in mount pocono. And everybody else in the 40s, so, instead of the ten we were planning on, we will go with nine, because of this pesky fog. Weve got 68 degrees for a high once the sun comes out. Then tonight, we could do it all over again, with a chance of a shower and then a low temperatures of 53 degrees. After midnight, we could see that fog rolling in, once again, bob kelly . Hey sue, good morning, everybody, 5 02, weve got the fog here this morning, certainly, going to slow you down, and make sure you pay attention. Because it comes up on you fast and thick. Here is a live look at the platt bridge from the airport side. You can barely make out anything above four stories here, if you are coming into center city. You cant see the skyscrapers, boathouse row is not visible, here is a live look from the jersey side, the headlights trying to cut through the fog. As you work your way over toward the 42 freeway. Now the crews are still working here on the vine street expressway. We just cant see them. Because of the fog between broad street and the schuylkill expressway, closed, usually out of there by 5 00, maybe another 15 minute or so. Then watch for these speed restrictions that were in place now on both the new jersey turnpike, and the garden state parkway. They knocked it down to 50 miles an hour here on the turnpike between the delaware Memorial Bridge to up 7a. Look out for the pothole patrol crews, stretch of 322 between route one and i95, and with the fog, probably going to see delays at Philadelphia International airport. American Airline Situation all taken care of. Everybodys compute remembers fired up. Ready to check in. But the fog could cause delays foray rivals and departures, karen, back over to you. I got some family taking off today. All right, thank up, bob. So, lets talk about the weather because it will be something that were all going to be thinking about and dealing with, and dreaming every maybe some lunchtime outside. But first weve got this very thick fog out there, it is like pea soup. It makes driving pretty difficult getting around. Steve keeley what are you seeing or not seeing . Look, you can see people walking across the street. Not a good idea to jay walk, look at the dark clothes that person walking into the 7eleven, youve got two other people. That guy just walking in the street. And the light was green for the driver. So not a wise idea. Dont count on drivers seeing you because were going step out into the little to the curb here, and look down this way, and you can see the headlights and the red light, but you cant see down as far as you normally would. We have very powerful light on our camera. Thats why you can make out the 78th street sign. Chris turnoff the light for a second. You can now see how, without a powerful tv camera, which i dont think you drivers at home have those to put on your car, but do you have headlight. Remember, high beams, just reflect the fog. So no high beams in this. And thats your first inch sting to put your high beams on because you can not see. I drove in couple of hours ago, very surprised as i told bob kelly that the Delaware River Port Authority did not have the speed reduced on the betsy ross bridge, normally 45, i was surprise today see the light at 45, because they usually cut it to 25. It was like being in a airplane, and going into the clouds, and could you not see, and you get a little paranoid if youre smart, because, look at that, you can she guy lighting cigarette over there. And that flame comes through the fog. Maybe that will help somebody see him as hes walking, look likes hell cross the street too. So there is somebody walking across the street, completely dark clothes, all i can make out is the light from hug cigarette. He has the light at least so hes smart and looking both whales. So we turn around here, at least we with make out the goal enarches of mcdonald in the background, going up past 79th avenue here. This is ogontz, chris fox tells me, it is 309 eventually. But ogontz avenue, which is very busy this time of day, and not only when you have fog like this, is it hard to see, but it puts a slick coating on the road as well because it is kind of like little water drip lets that we see in our light. So very slippery even walking you can feel like little slick stuff under your feet. Take it easy today folks. Driving down 95, also very foggy. So if somebodys broken down, if there is debris in the road, youre not going to see it until youre on top of it. This is why we always see maybe in fog thicker than this but always see huge pileups in the news of zero six vehicles. It just takes two cars to crash into each other f people are going on a highway, 55, 60 a typical day, youre not going to see anybody in time to stop. Very foggy out. All of these bus drivers that are out doing their job, they cant even see people at the bus stop until theyre very on top of the bus stop. So you get a sense of as the cars come down the road we dont really see the headlight until theyre just a block away. So karen, this is our advice and im sure bob and sue have already said it, take it easy today. We do have a payoff later once the fog lifts. Well have Beautiful Day in the 70s where we normally would be maybe in the low 40s, so, enjoy that day. But of course there is always a price to pay with the nice weather and the price were paying now is the fog in the morning. That guy going way too fast on local road in this fog. There you go. Dont do that. Specially when coming up to red light. Thats good advice, you said, always the pay offers, we have the ying and yank, so well deal with it, appreciate t. Keeping it in west oaklane, breaking news out of there. Police respond today triple shooting happened early this morning, about 1 45. Thats the scene, the 2400 block of 77th avenue. Critics said it would create jobs, today is the day well find out how much money has actually been raised. So jenny joyce, live at one of the bottling plants in juniata. Good morning. Reporter good morning, karen, so the people who claim to be affected by this beverage tax, not necessarily the National Distributors and cocacola, but rather the corner stores, local super markets, you say that the soft drink tax has slashed beverage sales between 30 and 50 , which would be worse than the city initially forecasted. With that claim, local super markets and distributors say the tax could cost jobs. Just one month in, and these Business Owners are already discussing layoffs. To those businesses, the city says, slow down. City officials have predicted a slow start to tax revenue because all of the inventory and stores as of january 1st, when the change took effect, were not subject to the tax. The city was anticipate ago revenue of between two to 3 million in january. A monthly figure that they expect to climb throughout the year, and help the city pay for pre k and other community programs. There will be some falloff in sales. It has been that way with the cigarette tax, with liquor by the drink tax, and anything else thats been imposed. And that tends to come back. There will be a percentage every people who dont come back. But thats not going to be what it is right now. And it is hard to even determine, because we havent had a really full month. We need six months to eight months to determine exactly the level of taxes being collected. But the bottom line is that these beverage, american beverage association, has marketed in poor neighborhoods for generations, they put people into situations with obesity, and other types every diseases, that have been caused by their product. Were asking for little bit of the money to educate poor kids, poor neighborhoods, so that they have a chance to get out. Healthy bodies, healthy minds, as i mention, the beverage tax is part of the mayors five year plan to fund pre k. He wants to create 6500 locally funded quality pre k seats in philadelphia. The money from the tax will also Fund Community schools and improves to parks, Recreational Centers, and a library. So karen, at 6 00 this morning the city will unveil the first months tax revenue figures. So we can see whether or not there really has been a drop in sales or whether or not this is already proving to be a really good thing for the city financially. Karen . Well find out today, get some good information later this morning, thank you, jenny. How about this . Crying foul. Poultry shop in south philadelphia slapped with federal lawsuit over health concerns. So the suit says the chickens were sold without handling instructions, the owner has 20 days to respond. Police hoping Surveillance Video will lead them to the suspect behind a violent home invasion, it happened in juniata park. Ahead with more than the 400 million ticket was drawn. Hey, bob . Good morning, everybody, 5 13. Were waking up with some fog this morning, as we go for a ride. South on i95. The roving crews are coming to delco, right after the rush hour. Lets go outside. Take a live look at downtown philadelphia. The vine st. Expressway, city hall, in the background. Roads are little damp. The figure fog. Sue has your forecast when we come right back. I laugh, i sneeze. There goes my sensitive bladder. Sound familiar . Then youll love this. Yes, hazy out there this morning, in our neighborhood, had trouble getting out of my neighborhood, because i couldnt see my way, then the fog goes away from little bit. Then youre driving along it, comes back very thick. Thats the deal. So just make sure youre not running late today. Allow yourself a lot of time. Because all of these places have poor visibility. The airport in philly, wilmington, lancaster, trenton, pottstown, atlantic city, millville, all socked in with a lot of fog this morning, thats why we have a dense fog advisory in effect until 10 00 a. M. For most of the area, all of the counties you see highlighted there. Weve got 49 degrees, mild temperature in philadelphia. Little chillier to the north with 30s in reading, allentown, mount pocono. But it is close to 50 degrees as well in wildwood, new jersey. Now, we are checking the future cast. We still see quite a few clouds, probably some fog through about 10 00. And then the clouds start to break up, and the sunshine finally comes out. And then we see temperatures start to zoom up pretty quickly, specially out to the west. So, by about 3 00, we will probably reach our high. Whatever it is this model says it is 68 degrees, weve got 70s out in lancaster. Just depends on where you are. It looks like chilly temperatures may hang on down at the shore because after on shore flow. But then weve got little bit of rain rolling in, after about 7 00, 8 00 tonight. Thunderstorms are possible, north and west of the city. We may see a stray shower after dark. But it doesnt last for developing. Weve got fog rolling back in by tomorrow morning. So, putting all of that together in the seven day forecast, it is another roller coaster ride. Temperatures go from 68 degrees today, which is pretty mild, to 72 tomorrow. Thats an optimistic hoping that we get enough sunshine, 70 degrees on saturday, then the thunderstorms take us down to the wintery 40s sunday, but they dont stay there. Those temperatures go to the mid 50s, by monday, back to the 60s on tuesday, wednesday, kind of unsettled all three days, with a chance of showers, but still, doesnt feel like wintertime, bob kelly, still. It does not. You know what . I coined finds my coat this morning, it is somewhere, i looked around the it is dark, you know, i didnt want to turn all of the lights on it, wasnt in the kitchen. It wasnt in the car. I thought you know what, it is not that bad out really walking from the parking garage to here. I was okay without my coat. So good morning, everybody, 5 18. Live look, hello to the shaders. Maple shade new jersey, check hadding in here perfect example of the fog, Cumberland Farms in the background. Steve mentioned it that fine mist thats causing the roads to be a little wet here this morning, so watch it, as the little ones get ready to step out wait willing for the bus, make sure they got that bright colored clothing on. Specially if any even yourself, if youre going to be out crossing the street or waiting for the bus stop, before we see any daylight. Here is a live look at route 309. Not that far from flourtown. Again where ever you begin and end your trip it, comes up on you fast and thick, steve had mentioned coming over the bridge, here is kind of zoom camera little bert, ben franklin, youre driving over, and it is like youre driving in a airplane going through the clouds. And you get that your heart stops for a second, because you i think what if there was a car stopped, double parked, or broken down, in front of you. And it could be whole different start to your morning rush hour. Normal Train Service expected today on the market frankford line. I talked to septa, they said theyre boarding back to normal between 63rd and 69th street. So fingers crossed, that we get an easy rush hour here for commuters. They will be running that ab express service on the Mark Frankford line. Otherwise, again, coming over the bridges, be real careful. Steve mentioned theyve not yet reduced the speeds there, and a fire location, at halls lane and frazier road, in flourtown, that remains closed it vehicle traffic. And so far so good at the airport. But we could see some fog delays through the morning, karen, back over to you. Bob, thank you. Here is a live look at the vine st. Expressway, socked in with some fog. But at least, we see the headlights, and that means the construction is cleared, and were good to go. Along with the fog, also bridges that fine mist leaving the roads little wet this morning. Coming overall of the bridges, youre driving, steve keeley said it best, as if youre on an airplane, just driving into the clouds, and thats what it looks like on all of the bridges, the benny, the whitman, the talcony, even the platt and the jimp adder point double decker, imagine, 95, going at 55 miles an hour, and driving through the fog. Water main break there is one coming to us, via karen hepp this morning, 49 and parkside, just off belmont avenue. Water crews responding. They were rushed over to einstein hospital, and are expected to recover. Bill cosby now slamming nbc on twitter. Hes angry because the network did not include them when they had recent 90 anniversary special. Use the hashtag such as legacy cant be abolish in a tweet on tuesday, then followed up yesterday morning, with a hashtag no bill cosby . The comedian has artistry obviously working on the network for decades including hit shows, the cosby show, his criminal Sexual Assault case in Montgomery County will be going to trial in june. Happening today, we will be talking about the soda tax. We will get new numbers coming out pretty shortly. The goal of the soda tax of course to raise money for our young children, pre k, parts parks, libraries, critics clearly say this will cost whole lot of jobs. So, how much money is on the table . Is it bringing in or not . Were going to find out one way or another, this morning, jenny, one of our bottling plants, good morning. Reporter good morning, karen, yes, we will find out about 6 00 this morning, those numbers from january. Now the people who are upset about this not necessarily the National Retailers like cocacola, but it is more the corner stores, the local super markets, who say that the soft drink tax has slashed beverage sales between 30 and 50 , which would be worse than the city initially predicted. So with that claim local super markets and distributors say the tax could cost jobs. Just one month in, and these Business Owners are already discussing layoffs to those businesses, the city says, slow down, city officials had predicted a slow start to tax revenue, because all of the inventor any stores as of january 1st, when the change took effect, were not subject to the tax. The city was anticipate ago revenue of between two, 3 million, in january, a monthly figure they expect to continue to climb throughout the year. And help the city pay for pre k and other community programs. The beverage tax plate in council, they spent 10. 6 million misleading people about this whole issue. Because they are multi billionaires, who dont want to see this tax go nationwide. As weve seen today seattle mayor now saying that theyre going to impose the tax, or try to impose the tax. This is them trying to hold onto their wealth. Thats fine. Because and also spending money to fight them in court. The only jurisdiction where theyve challenged just court is philadelphia. There is four other states, four other cities doing this. And theyre not challenging them, just philadelphia. So i dont really have any sympathy for them. We will go onto get our kids educated, and well have better life. They will be better customers for the store owners. The beverage tax is part of the mayors five year plan to fund pre k. He wants to create 6500 locally funded quality pre k seats in philadelphia. The money from the tax will also Fund Community schools and improves to parks, Recreational Centers and libraries. So, again, in just about 20 minute, or so, the city will unveil the first months tax revenue figures. So we can see whether or not there was a drop in sales, or see just how much the city could be potentially benefitting from this tax. Karen . All right, we will find out. Just matter of minute at this time. So well see those numbers, thank you, jenny. Lets talk president ial news right now. President donald trump reversing an obama directive on transgender student, and bathrooms in schools. Lets get down to washington dc. Doug luzader to check in on the latest on this, good morning, doug. Good morning, well, this does as you mention reverse this obama directive. Really guidance, but more than guidance. I mean, it was a clear indication that schools should follow the president s lead, president obamas lead. And allow transgender student dont use the bathroom of their choice. Schools didnt technically have to follow that guidance, but if they didnt they could lose funds potentially and they could also face lawsuits. There have been number of lawsuit. Well, the president now, President Trump, has decided to rescind that guidance, leave this to up really state and localities to decide how to apply, you know, Bathroom Usage rules to student. So that doesnt mean it will be more individual, so like in our community here if philadelphia, theyve already said that people can use the bathroom of their choice, that they feel the most comfortable using. So it wouldnt affect us too much . Reporter doesnt sound like. This now, it is tough to figure out how all of this stuff is going to play out. But one thing we know for sure, there will be a number of lawsuits over this. But children, transgender children, will have less to rely upon now if they try to bring suit because this guidance has been rescinded. Now the other aspect to this, of course, public opinion. This is a deeply devisive cultural issue. The public opinion, according to some polls, is kind of on the president s side on this. On President Trumps side. But, look, this is a difficult issue. I think for most people. Because it just raises all kind of questions about how bathrooms are actually used and, you know, it is just not an easy issue, i think, for most people to work through. Bathroom talk, thank you, doug. I think thats the truth of the mat any time dealing with these kind of sensitive issues. We appreciate your time, thank you. See what happens with this one.
