So, can you imagine if this had happened, wow, look at this car, kind of merged under, stuck underneath that tractortrailer. Karen, back to you. Thank you so much. Developing story to begin with right now at 4 03, from west philadelphia, we know woman has died after police chase came to crashing end. It all began with some gunshots, escalate today a pursuit, police say, the victim was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. Weve got steve keeley on this one, over at police headquarters, so, steve, what do we know at this early hour . She was in the right place at the right time. She was doing everything legally. She was just sitting in her car going by the traffic laws. Sitting waiting for a light to change. And she ends up getting killed. Two guys who tried to kill other guys in another car with their guns ended up killing her with her car. She is an innocent 56 year old woman, driving her kia sole, waiting for the 52nd and locust lights to change just past 7 00. You see in video one, a black nissan going through that red light, smashed into the kia, which you now see here in video two, got thrown up against another car and pushed up on to the sidewalk. The 56 year old woman pronounced dead within the hour at 8 10. The two guys inside the nissan only hurt slightly in the police words in this crash. Not hit by the earlier gunfire. Although, their nissan has bullet holes in it. And inside the nissan, police find a 9millimeter gun with a extended magazine, that holds many bullets, that police got Surveillance Video of showing the car to car gun fight that started all of this, that officers on patrol nearby had overheard. We pulled some video from a store around 48th and westminster. And we see depict in the that video this car, the nissan, and another vehicle, involved in some altercation, and gunshots were fired, from the black nissan, and a white vehicle, so there was a shoot that did occur, the officers did follow that vehicle, with their lights and sirens on, car does not spot. They pursue that vehicle for several blocks to the intersection of 52nd and locust, which is directly behind me. At that time the nissan, that is being pursued by at least two Police Vehicles strikes a vehicle that is going eastbound on locust street, striking that vehicle, unfortunately, the driver that far vehicle was pronounced at Presbyterian Hospital around 8 10. Well, police have not yet found that white car originally shooting at the black nissan. So, the obvious question was the Police Pursuit justified . Where of course there will be official investigation, but you talk to police, they say, when you have got lives in jeopardy, you just cant have people shooting guns on the street of philadelphia and driving around, shooting at each other. And then just let them drive off like nothing happened, because they take off. Sadly, criminals, guns, not the only thing we can see as we kill here, so can their car. These guys will be charged with the 56 year old womans death. And for the whole family, such a tragedy, steve. Also, following g breaking news coming to us from washington state. Police officer has died thereafter being shot several times while responding to a Domestic Violence call in tacoma overnight. They have not identified that officer. At this hour police have that suspects home surrounded, and the neighborhood is still on lockdown. They are not sure if the suspect is barricaded in the home or fled, while that officer was being taken to the hospital. Also, right now, another developing story. In that hitandrun case, the little girl, eight year old gianna powell, developing right now, that child, they have an arrest. Police say they have 24 year old man in custody. We spoke with her parent yesterday, they were on good day, talked to many calling and pleading with the community for help. And it seems that somebody may have decided to do that and called in a tip on this one. So we have jenny joyce with the latest on all of. This jenny, good morning. Reporter good morning, at this point, karen, police have not identified the suspect that they arrested yesterday only to say as you had mentioned, he is a 24 year old man, he is believed from the overbrook section of the city where it hitandrun occurred. Yesterday fox 29 cameras were there, as the suspects Nissan Altima was impounded apparently the man was brought to the Police Departments Accident Investigation Division, for questioning. At this point police have not announced charges p. Investigators say they received a tip that the suspects car was at an auto body shop in frazier, chester county. Police drove 30 plus miles to the shop to take a closer look at the car and ultimately have it towed to their impounds lot. Police believe this was the car involved in the fatal hitandrun of eight year old gianna powell, the little girl killed two weeks ago when she and her brother were walking home from school, and attempted to cross lansdowne avenue at 63rd street. This week we reported that a reward in this case had reached 45 grand with the help from the mayor, f. O. P. , and the childs family. The victim ace family held a press conference earlier this week and appeared on our air good day philadelphia yesterday morning asking the person responsible to turn his or herself in. We can imagine that this news that theyre hearing, now theyre feeling a sense of justice this morning. Police responded to the home in the 600 block of clementon, just before midnight on tuesday, when they got there, ziare and her mother met them hold that child. Police took the boy over to saint chris hospital where he died. An autopsy revealed that little boy had fractured rib, lacerated liver. Neighbors are shocked. He always danced and all. Was just happy, happy little baby. Im going to miss him because he always called me aunty and everything, and every time he saw me, he was happy. Crime scene investigators spent wednesday afternoon collecting evidence at that house and that investigation is ongoing. Did you hear about this one . I saw it all over twitter. Now we have a picture of the guy that police say did i it. This is Police Officers say they were stopping to talk with that guy, 32 years old, ceasar or telling a, to question him about possibly breaking into a car. Cops say that then that suspect punched, kicked, head butted and bit the officers breaking their skin. I know an officer, a lot of times, 35 years ago, got bitten by a female. He was multiple surgeries, over the course of years. I mean, infection just set in, tore his body up. So human bite, the human mouth actually not the best thing in the world when you talk about breaking skin. Both officers did go to the hospital to have those wounds cleaned out, were told theyre doing just fine, and or telling a facing long list of charges. There is a philadelphia attorney who may now be in trouble with the law. So we showed this security footage on tuesday, two nicely dressed men vandalizing a store in Chestnut Hill with a antitrump message. It got a lot of peoples attention the guy was wearing a costcott. It is 4 21, protests in charlotte after the decision not to charge the officer who shot and killed keith lamont scott. This was the scene late last evening in downtown charlotte. On wednesday prosecutors announce officer brently vincent was justified in that september shooting death of scott. Investigators say, he had a gun on him when officers killed him outside after apartment complex. The victims family has maintained he was not armed. We still have real questions about the decisions that were made that day, in terms of how they confronted keith, how they reacted to the information that he had a brain injury, and whether they used appropriate de escalation techniques. When officers shot scott, they were actually thereto serve someone else with a warrant, and say they stumbled upon scott in the car with a gun and marijuana. We have this breaking news right now. There was Police Pursuit, through the street of philadelphia, and it came to tragic ends, one woman is dead, two suspect are in jail, lets get right out to steve keeley with what we know so far. Steve . Reporter yes, this only happened nine hours ago, police here obviously is to talk about their policies with Police Pursuit. It is not like they were pulling somebody over for having their blinking turn signal out. These guys, they saw trying to kill other guys, in a car, in a gun battle. But going to video number one. Of two guys in a black nissan, maxima, intent on killing someone last night, just past 7 00. They were shooting at them with a 9millimeter gun with a long extended clip with lot of ammo. Problem is, they didnt kill who they intend today kill with the gun. But killed an unintended, innocent woman, with their car. The Nissan Maxima is weighing more than 3,500 pounds, add two grown men inside, 4,000 speeding pound every mostly metal going through a red light, with deadly velocity and force, much more deadly in this case than their 3pound gun. Because video number two shows the smashed kia soul, 56 year old woman out driving safely waiting for the light to change, here at 52nd and locust, not knowing those in the previous gun fight and Nissan Maxima, seven blocks away, were barreling through the streets, trying to elude police, ignoring the red light, then slamming her kia soul with such force it got thrown out of the street, even across the sidewalk you see here. The 56 year old driver dead within the hour and just moments before police on patrol in west philly, hear lots of gunfire. They drive toward the sounds and they see the source, gun battle car to karat 48th and westminster between those in the nissan and those still in a unknown white car that got away. The occupant of the nissan thats behind me, and white vehicle, were involved in some type of gun battle, and thats what the officers heard. Once they got there, they saw auto glass in the street. They see a male quickly get into the nissan. Thats when they start following the car to try to stop it. It doesnt stop. They put light and sirens on. And a pursuit begins. It was a nine mill meter with extended magazine in the nissan. Nissan strike marks. So we know definitively just from the video that the nissan and this other white vehicle were involved in a active gunfire, gun fight. Strike marks by the way you viewers as police talk for bullet holes that they found in that nissan after the crash from the gun fight. Police have seen Surveillance Video as they try to track down that other car whose occupants were shooting at two guys in a black nissan, to hit the car but didnt shoot them. They of course only hurt slightly in the crash was the words mr. Evers describes their injuries. They avoid getting shot. Then they avoid getting killed in the deadly car crash, karen, one thing they wont avoid, charges in the death of this poor innocent woman, just out probably ringer around last night at 7 00. Sheridan collapsed, here between the two cars. Sergeant bobby of the Atlantic City International Airport state Police Station was first to respond to the rental car drop off section last friday. Thats where 80 year old Joseph Sheridan was on the ground, and unconscious. He wasnt doing too well. There was no pulse or breathing at the time.
