We noticed this yesterday, wear bright colors, especially during the morning and evening rush hours. We are not seeing daylight until 7 00 oclock. That is great you are using bikes, as an option whether it is your own bike or that bike sharing program, but make sure you have something to be seen until the dark no problems on the schuylkill, plea route, i95. Friday checklist, crowded trains in the the platforms, same deal get your tickets in advance. It will be like autumn. We have been warm and new back to seasonal. We will give you eight out of ten because we have to get used to it again. We have cold front not quite the through the entire area just yet, we have some rain in southern delaware and maybe drip and tab here and there we have a few cloud as we get red of the cold front and skies will clear and we will have some tsunami shine. 54 degrees. Look at your sunrise time 7 34. 7 miles an hour wind. We dont have fog and we dont worry about fog today. Fiftyfour here. We will get to a high later on, of, 60 degrees, that is a little more like it, thomas and karen for this time of the year. In the quite the seven we saw yesterday but we will take it. Thanks, sue. We are following a developing story this morning out of olney. Two Young Children are in Critical Condition after being rescued from a house fire. Lets get out to steve keeley there at the scene with the very latest from what we have learned, steve. Reporter well, critical but alive and improving. We also talk about statistics in terms of the the fire deaths, what you dont hear is fire saves, and this Philadelphia Fire Department, came into this house, just past 9 00 last night, they put out a fire and they see two young kid. Im talking one yearold being the youngest, they had to save those lives. Not just get them out but bring them back to life, resuscitate them down the steps here. You can see Police Department still here, guarding the scene, new lets go to the video, just past 9 00 last night. Fire breaks out in prime time, lot of questions about how the parents got out, where the parents were even home, and this and that but those questions to be answered later, the answer we have right now is that you got a great Philadelphia Fire Department and two young kid still alive brought back to life, and alive because of this Fire Department. Heres their new boss adam tiehl. During the course of the fire fight our Fire Fighters rescued two children, those children were immediately transported and treated in route, by Philadelphia Fire Department paramedics, and they did an incredible job of treating them, both children were in Critical Condition when they were transported, one time to einstein an bonnie to st. Christophers. They remain in Critical Condition but they are improving. Reporter how god does that sound, that was improving. So that was last night. They are probably in better condition once they got the to the expert care of people noted for helping, little kid where theyve quip. That is kid sized and not adult sized in these hospitals. Karen and thomas, we are out here talking about two lives saved instead of two lives lost, how cool is that. We love to hear that word, improving. Thanks, steve. Also in other news right now, facing another day of grid lock, strike is continuing, still no deal between septa and transit Workers Union. Septa strike now in the fourth day and here we are on the friday, things will get worse, commuters trying to make the best of it. Lauren johnson joining us from 30th street station. A hard to stay positive with all of this. Reporter i know, for so many people it is really frustrating and a big headache. The here at 30th street station it is quiet now but we know that will change when people start coming in the city to head to work and school. Some say yesterdays meetings were nothing short of the war of word, both side, throwing accusations at each other and still nothing so we enter another day. The Union President is accusing the septa Board Chairman of not being completely honest with the public in his Statement Released wednesday. Union claims they would have taken homeless in their paychecks had they accepted septas offer before the strike. The court issue, money, limited which posts problems if the union wants more in pensions and paychecks. Then there are those quality of life issues, downtime between shifts, and break times but money issues are dominating these discussions. Either way passengers are the ones caught in the the middle. I have to take a 25 minute walk back to my car. You can drive to the train station but Regional Rails have been so crazy, better to park somewhere and just walk. Im usually late for work but they are being very understanding. Traffic seemed like it is double the traffic these days, you know, you have to make arrangements to take kids to will school, people to work, it is definitely affecting everyone. Reporter some of these kids dont have other options to get to school so they have to walk. One child told me yesterday, 42 minutes, usually two buses, there, 15 minutes. Well, septa has been threatening an injunction to force workers back for election day. We heard it would happen yesterday, it never did but there is still that possibility. Of course, we will keep an eye on this mornings commute here from 30th street station and let you know how people are making out, karen and thomas. Good point i was over at master, kid are coming in on yellow buses a at 11 00 a. M. That is how delayed they were. I think we will hit reset button and good going to if you get in or out of town, so far this morning, some tips here if you are driving. That flat rate of ten bucks for ten hours still stand at ppa garages. Meter made taking it easy on the meet ever times giving you some slack but a big tip here, if you are using bikes, make sure you have the bright colors. We have seen a lot of folks wearing their black jacket, wear something bright. Dont wear a bright pink jacket the so we see you but have something, he is type of marking maybe a book bag on your back so those that are driving in the car can see the gang, driving with the bike. If you are going to take a bike ride today, sueby, forecast will be very important, right. We will not get any rain once we get last of the rain out of here. In fact, we dont have any rain in the forecast for a long time, chance of rain is slim to none as we head into election day next week all the way through weekend, when we change the time, saturday night into sunday, it is all dry, dry, dry. So were not quite dry just yet but last of the cold front is still making its way through the area you can see left over clouds and rain that is still in southern delaware, so it is right here at dewey beach, ocean city, maryland, maybe a few syringe also around wildwood and other parts of the Cape May County but it is almost gone the coal front that started its way through yesterday afternoon. Temperatures are still not too chilly, we have got 54 degrees in philadelphia, 45 in mount pocono, colder air or chillier air, trying to settle in here, 57 in wildwood. Fiftythree in lancaster. Not an uncomfortable morning. The wind are starting to pick up a little bit, 16 miles an hour up to the north, 7 miles an hour here, not a real issue unless in the mountains where it is windy and that is where as we said chillier air is settling in. We didnt even get close to that record yesterday, the cloud, kind of took over earlier then expect. So we got to 72 degrees yesterday. Today a high of 60. Sixtys, well, over the weekend, and lots of sunshine on monday, and no excuse, at least weatherwise, not to vote on election day, high of 62. It stays seasonal through middle of the next week. Not a bad way to start the morning. 4 17. Lets get a check of the other top stories we are following this morning. We spent time over last 48 hours to make sure we have the information and we werent rushing to judgment, and, we have a process in place, for these sort of things. That could lead to us what we think is the right decision. We all saw this coming but they finally made it official, phillies bought out ryan howards contract. For the woman . Yeah, there has to be some form. I would support legislation in pennsylvania that would ban abortion and i would, suggest that we have penalties for doctors who perform them. Day four of the septa strike, people forced to take alternate ways to work trying to find a way to the end. We will have a break down and we will actually have a break down on what you can expect this morning. Also developing overnight there were two Young Children rush to the hospital after being injured in a fire, and where Fire Fighters found them up side of that burning home. Allegations of socalled rigged elections may have been gaining some trackses, Law Enforcement made a second raid in less than a week. Great to have you with us this morning, im Thomas Drayton with karen hepp on this friday. People work over weekend and it is not my friday yet the but at least we did make it to the end of the the week. Four days of the septa strike, been a headache for a lot of people out there. Even when you work on the weekend, everybody is in a better mood on a friday. Managers are not there. Yes, they know it is coming to an end. At least not here this early on a friday. Coming in from the suburbs, no problems here on the the schuylkill expressway, heres a live look at schuylkill at belmont have avenue. Again, schuylkill taking the brunt of the extra traffic especially starting around that 7 00 oclock hour. But fridays are different then other workdays. Heres the roosevelt boulevard we are off to a good start. Roads could be damp from your area having some rain yesterday, watch for those leaves, your friday checklist be ready for crowded trains, lath forms, coming in on the Regional Rails make sure you get your tickets in advance and as friday afternoon rush hour, it is always a little bit different then others. Friday mornings are lighter, so it will be, again, another day of some unusual traffic patterns, as we deal with the strike on day number four. If you are driving that flat rate still stand in center city. Ppa giving an extra hour easing up on those meters there but big tip if you decide to use the bike make sure you have bright colors especially in the Early Morning hours until we see some daylight and on the way home, later on this afternoon. In problems this morning at philly international, but if you are flying trying to get out of town, a staying in town, all important forecast, sueby has got it. Yeah, it will be different but more like it is supposed to be, in early november. We have had eight out of ten today, almost rid of the rain but not quite, still raining if southern delaware. We are seeing a stray syringe will or two, last of this cold front comes through as we zoom into southern delaware, that is where it is still raining, maybe a little bit at jersey shore and Cape May County as well, but for us, we are try out in philadelphia. Fiftyfour, seven whiles an hour wind and sunrise not until 7 34. That will all change over weekend when time changes we will go back to standard time. 45 degrees in the mountains but 50s every where else, and as the cooler air is still in the process of settling in. Wind are going to kick up more, especially once we get to sunrise, with the change in air temperature, as will cooler air, gets us. We were in the 70s yesterday. Seventytwo is the official high today. Sixty. It will be bright, beautiful with plenty of sunshine. Your sunset time 5 55, guys. By monday it will be so much earlier. Well, it was dark, picking up kid from the game yesterday, thanks, sue. So, 4 32 is the time. We are still dealing witt. We will have have more grid lock, more long lines, more heavy crowds and problems on the septa strike day four. On this friday, this morning still no deal between septa and Workers Union but talks go on. Lauren johnson joins us from 30th street station, good morning. One portion of the talks is about forcing the Union Workers back on the job next week for election day. The union says that is just not fair. I tried to focus on next week when we can focus on a settlement this week. Everyone wants something to happen, because people showing up at 30th street station are frustrated and all over the city to be honest. Heres the deal, reality is buses, trolleys and trains are not rolling by tuesday that could pose major problems getting people to the poles and on time, with increased traffic on the road. Pennsylvania, of course, is a battle will ground state. Philadelphia is overwhelmingly democratic, so this strike could hit Hillary Clinton camp pretty hard. The issue is when union voted to authorize this strike they also voted not to extend or suspend the strike while these negotiations continue. So they dont want to stop. One Union Members claims to the general public why he is off the job and in the picket lines. We as a union do apologize for the inconvenience to the riding public. We dont want to do this. Septa forced our hand to bring us out here to to what we need to do. No contract, no work. We just want a fair contract, fair wages and fair work rules. Were not robots. Pensions, paychecks, health care, work rules and big issue sitting on the negotiating table. Just as a note last union strike happened back in 2009 ape it lasted six long days. So as we head in today four we have seen traffic jams, we have seen pack Regional Rail trains and we will also see children have not been able to make it to school because of the chaos and confusion. Thomas and karen. Being delayed for several hours, thank you. We know two Young Children are in the hospital right now after pretty bad house fire. Steve keeley is joining us from the scene in the olney section, good morning to you, steve, there was some Quick Reaction here. They are in the hospital and not in the morning thanks to the Philadelphia Fire Department, that is bottom line here, this fire, breaks down prime time, parents town stairs kid upstairs. Lets go to the video. Fire department gets here in olney right off boulevard by two blocks. They get here in four minutes. They put it on you the in ten minutes. Once they get fire out they are hearing screaming parents out here on the street saying their babies are inside, one and six. Fire department gets in, find these kids, brings them back to life, neighbors like eric johnson see Fire Department resuscitating these kids on the stretcher. They could not wait. They had to save their lives right here on the street. How great was it to see the Fire Department save these two young neighbors. I was glad to see them pull the kid out and parents were going crazy and the neighborhood was, the house was just going up, smoke filled and it was just disturbing. Reporter were you surprise todd that anybody survived it the way the fire was going. Yes, im very advised because it was full of smoke and by the time the Fire Department got here, they asked us about the the property and smoke just hit them and the whole top of the roof was like in flames. Smoke was coming out of every where, they started breaking windows and smoke was just going every where, so, you know, i just pray that be in died in there. Reporter your prayers were answered how good is it that you hear kids both surprised and Fire Department saved their lives. So good, god is good. Well, Fire Department is real good too. Adam tiehl the commissioner said kid were critical but improving and he said that, around 10 00 oclock last night. So hopefully they are even better, this morning and the parents very lucky. The flames, karen and thomas that you know as a parent you go back in your house if it was on fire to get your three boys out but impossible to get back in that house. Eric says flames and smoke were too intense, it took experts at Fire Department and ladders and bucket windows to get in there and good thing because these two kids will live a long life happily, hopefully. That is a good thing. Any parent would want to have that happen. 4 37. Allegations of a rigged election could gain tracks after a second Law Enforcement raid in less than a week. State police and investigators from the state Attorney Generals Office raided sealed works office in hunting park last night. Six days after a similar raid on the companys office in norwood, delaware county. Company registers voters for Democratic Candidates and each case they are looking for evidence of templates that could be used to construct fraudulent Voter Registration forms. Dell will co g. O. P. Officials say they flooded county Election Office with bogus registration forms. This is registration fraud, is it voter fraud . Well, that is to be determined we will see what happens on election day. Prosecutors have not charged them with any crime and says it is fully cooperating with investigators. Due to the sensitive nature of the case pennsylvanias attorney jennies expected to release a statement today, attempting to clarify the nature of the investigation. That is kind of confusing. Heres something that is very clear, u. S. Department of education hit Penn State University with a two and a half milliondollar fine. This all concludes a fiveyear investigation into how the university handled complaints about former assistant fat ball coach jerry sandusky. Department says penn state officials ignored their duties under the cleary act that requires colleges and universities to report campus crimes and warn people about any threats to their safety. Most of the country will push clock back one hour but voters in utah may get a chance to change that in their state. Daylight saving time is one of the top complaints, state lawmakers here about from their constituents. For years lawmakers considered ending it but every year a bill opts goes no where on capitol hill. Monday morning is pretty busy for us. We get a lot of calls, people asking how to change the time on their watch or their clock but then also people end up breaking something and then of to bring it in. So if it passes like some polls say would it utah would join arizona a in opting out of the semi annual clock switch, springing, forward, requires u. S. Congress to get involved. Interesting to go see what people think we should always be sprung forward or eastern standard time. I dont mind it in the fall to get that extra hour it makes all that difference. The whole reason this thing started was because of the economy because, you know, the farmers with the change of season and all and getting in the harvest, well, we dont do that anymore. It is no majority of our society so maybe we can, figure it out, something else, but in the meantime, it is saturday night, or sunday morning if you refer depending what you are to go saturday night that 2 00 a. Heres forecast at 1 00 it will be 58 degrees, bright sunshine a beautiful football day. Lets hope we have a beautiful victory, bid end of it. Were talking about how try over the next couple days and thought i would show you trout monitor especially in north jersey, a lot of rain is needed, where were not going to get a lot over next week or so. Right now we have a little bit of rain left over from the cold front that came through yesterday mostly heading out of the delaware and now in ocean city maryland and other parts of the del marva area for us it will be brightening up, nicely today but it will be cooler then it has been. Were in the 50s right now. Temperatures will not rise a lot. We will get 60 degrees and wind will pick up and it will feel chillier. Then we are talking about saturday and sunday, pretty similar, nine out of ten, we will just have nice autumn weather extending into tuesday, election day, it looks like a nice one as well and seasonal temperatures, continue with no rain in the forecast after that. So that is your seven day forecast, bob kelly has been looking at the alternate ways of transportation during this septa strike and it has been a challenge. Running out of the alternates.
