What you are looking at is the Chestnut Street overpass right before the columbus boulevard exit. And look at that tractortrailer jackknifed and wedged in there. The tractor part where the driver would be, is to the right, and you cant see that, thats the jackknife part. That truck is facing straight, but you can see the trailer completely blocking all the lanes of 95, firefighters here, they just had some ambulances squeeze around, you can get by on the left, thats fortunate, because thats how the Fire Department and ambulances got through. Then about 70 yards past this scene is where you will see a lot of activity where the other vehicle involved is past here. So, this tractortrailer may have lost control trying to just jam on the brakes and seeing that accident ahead of him, before there was any flashing lights or any warnings, and maybe some visibility, because you have the long under pass here, and you can see the lights that i will loom nature the under pass. Well spin around. Look all of the people are out of their cars right now. They are doing that because it went from torrential downpours to no rain at all. So everybodys wondering whats going on, because traffic is not getting anywhere. When we got on here, traffic was already back up past the ben franklin bridge. And even though traffic was being forced off at the vine street expressway, that may not be an option once traffic backs up all the way to girard avenue. Because thats where 95 splits to go off the vine street expressway, no police back there, because they were so busy here. So i talked to a state trooper. He had no idea what the traffic situation was back there. Now seeing ambulances, going back toward the city the other way on 95, and thats always a good sign if people needed medical help. Ill walk over here, give you an idea. If you were getting on 95 down the street from the station on Market Street, you have that one lane thats open. And you can see here, police have now blocked that, thats Market Street right there, so nobodys going to get on 95 even this week, this is the one option, see the trooper now wacking ahead. And the reason we are app not getting you the pictures, greg, i ask to you do something. Come over this concrete barrier with me. Well try to get awe picture while you cant see because the under pass is solid all the way through here, but you can get an idea about how this is going to be a headache for a long time. As far as detours telling people, i think, sue, the east years thing to say until this is cleared up is stay away from 95. Dont get on 95 thinking you can possibly get to the vine street expressway. Because i think it will be back up so far, back to girard, maybe even to allegheny, because you know how busy 95 is even this time of day. Look at the back up from here. Looking back now, im telling when you people start getting out of their car that tells you theyve already been here for awhile as it is. Boy, this will be a problem all morning long. The silver liner trains have been out of Service Since early july, which has made Regional Rail transit slow, and at times, frustrating to passengers. And these people have been sitting here since about 3 00, when this accident happened, and it was a torrential downpour, because i was driving on 95 south at the time, it was coming down in buckets. When you have these high medians on both sides of 95, here, because of the overpasses, and further up south and north, because of construction zones, when it comes down that much, you have hydroplaning situations, and several accidents all the time. So the firefighters may have been treating people from a previous accident there is tractortrailer jackknifed proke probably trying to stop and swerve to avoid the accident at the next overpass. So, from our Vantage Point here on the median, you can see this jackknife tractortrailer under the Chestnut Street overpass, then, if you look past that, you see all of the flashing lights, maybe making an ambulance and firetruck, they all, and the state troopers, they all reacted to the original accident scene, where you are talking about the firefighters being hurt at the next overpass, and thats why nobodys even caring about this truck right now, because the injured folks were further up about 100 yards. So, you have got a double accident scene here on 95 south, and the real story is as the morning rush hour builds, the traffic is going to build back up all the way likely to the betsy ross bridge if not even beyond that stay off 95 southbound no matter how north. Up from need to come to center city, finds some other way if you are leaving this time of day. Normally this time of day is the time to take 95 when there is no traffic. Sue, look at the back up. People have been out of their vehicles for over an hour now, theyre telling us. It is amazing, this many cars at 4 30 in the morning, but we know that were not the only ones up at this hour. So of course well keep you updated on this situation, weve got this live camera at the scene, heres another camera to show you, a different perspective of the scene. It is when we just south of Market Street, so when we get on i95 south, from the station here, fourth and market, this is the exit we take. But that did not happen in that tunnel. It is the tunnel to the left of that where i95, where you can get off at washington avenue and columbus boulevard before, right before that exit. So say between Market Street and columbus boulevard, i95 southbound, thats where it happened. We have a map to show you, as well, of this, and you can see, where you see the yellow, you see thats how slow it is, now, when that little car that is yellow turns red, thats when it is really back up. But really you cant get through there. That should be red, because i95 southbound is completely blocked. So, thats whats happening with that. Well have frequent updates on that. We also have another accident to tell you about. This happened in cheltenham, willow grove avenue, at sandy hill road. Watch out for that one, as well. So weve got two crash scenes here on 95 south. What i was going to say before i rudly cut myself off by walking away from out of range with the microphone was the traffic was being forced off the vine street expressway, but keep in mind, it is shutdown most nights until 5 00 a. M. For construction, because they are tearing apart the bridges. So, even though they were forced the vine street expressway, as far as they could go was broad street. So talking to the police here, theyre telling me all of this 95 southbound traffic, even in the mid of the night because it is a mob scene here, you can tell by the volume youre looking at, was being forced off at broad street. So, all of this 95 southbound traffic, three lanes of tractortrailers, vans, jeeps, cars, all being forced in the center city at broad street, which was another traffic mess, thats where jenny joyce and jared are trying to make their way out to hahnemann hospital. Thats broad and vine. And thats where the injured from this accident coincidentally, do you have wonder how did they get through all of that traffic .
