Was on the phone with her yesterday when she got the the the word that she was not going to school today. All i heard was ahh, because she didnt to have get out of her pajamas and maybe you do not either but if you do, this is the the situation out there. Refreeze overnight, of everything that melted yesterday, or almost everything and we call that black ice because the ice reflects usually the pavement underneath it or the blacktop of the roads, so temperatures, many of them, falling to the teens and 20s overnight, and so the pavement appears to be shiny and it appears wet, but it is slippery. Road, shoulders, steps, sidewalks are probably your biggest hazards this morning as you go outside. So we want to warn you before we take that first step out the door we dont want it to be a hazardous one for you. This is what were talking about at least north of philadelphia a, 25 degrees here in the city, 17 in allentown, 24 in lancaster. We have some temperatures to the the south of us that are well a above freezing. It is 40 degrees in Atlantic City. Thirtynine wildwood. Thirtyfive in dover. So you may not have as many problems with black ace as we will in the city but we dont have wind. That is a problem with fog. We have some reduced advisability in the area, and 5degree, or 5 miles i should say, yes, 5 miles visibility in wilmington and slightly reduced visibility. So patches of fog, are out there, maybe a few packets as well. We will watch this area of freezing rain, and rain out to our west. It is not expected to arrive here until later this afternoon. It is moving into that dry air. Again, temperatures falling in the teens and 20s and we can have icing issues this morning. We will talk more about that and what this is in store for the rest of the week coming up in the seven day forecast but right now time to check with bob kelly. Lets hope for fewer problems then yesterday that will not happen right now were off to a bad start here just a few moments ago here this accident involving an overturn suv, on the blue route. This is 476, southbound right here near the the schuykill expressway. We have got the a couple, one tractor trailer, it looks like a dump truck here and right here, overturn suv. So all lanes of the blue route now southbound are coming to a halt, approaching, the the schuylkill expressway. This will impact everybody coming out of mid county heading south trying to get down to 476. Sue mentioned it, black ice, if it the looks wet it is most likely a sheet of ice with temperatures at the 25 degrees. I want to say it looks like a snow plow there. I wonder if they were out doing snowplowing operations. I saw that coming in on 202 northbound. They are taking a big mounds of snow and trying to move it off, to the the shoulder, and that is something were still going to have to deal with this morning. There is so much snow they have been out all night trying to move it, opening up that second lane or third lane, opening up, that honor off ramp but be careful because you will come at some point especially until we get daylight out there. 202 northbound in that right lane approaching valley road you will hit a Big Snow Bank all because of the crews working overnight and im having trouble with my click there are if, sue, hit that space bar to get me going here, but northbound on the blue route, no delays, southbound, and that overturned. Heres an example of the neighborhood, good morning, to moorestown, new jersey, thinks Church Street where again, if it the looks wet it is most likelyized over. We will have a whole run down from mass transit, september, they will attempt another full service day but another trains were canceled last night on the way home. So be careful, slippery platforms, the stairs, limited parking spots. For the very latest on september, right now go to their web site and check on the system status to check your business, train, trolley. The chris and lauren, back over to you. Crews working to clear out city streets and all that snow, well, it has to go somewhere. Lots look live at broad and washington in south philadelphia. Crews piling up the the snow there before it is loaded on to the the melting machines, Public Transportation, as bob said is backup and running but public archdiocese schools will be closed to day. Two weeks straight, still covered in snow and ice f you live on one of the streets, the the mayor says help is on the the the way. We do appreciate your patients. Were getting to your streets. We have to take care of the big ones first and get everything rolling and that effects most number of people but we have not forgotten and we are coming or we were there are. Mayor kenney says every through street will be cleared by the end of the day wednesday. The the city says you can call 311 if you have an unplowed street. I was out there yesterday and so many of these neighborhood, germantown, mt. Airy, so many are unplowed. When you go inside 311 call center to see how busy they are with all those calls. Is there so many coming n mike called on hair and left a voice mail go on line, go on the app do whatever you have to do so we can know what you are going go through this morning crews are still working to clear out city streets and all that snow and has said it has to go somewhere. Lets go to dave kinchen in West Philadelphia one of the neighborhoods that is just paralyzed by all of the snow and ice. Reporter people are calling attention to West Philadelphia the general city area that neighbors says has been ignore. We are at fortyfifth and walnut. Lets look at walnut street. It is all clear, no problems. But looking down fortyfifth street here, it looks like they didnt even drop the blade here on the street. We will show you what is going on here. Weve got cars that are still buried in, and cannot get out, covered with snow. Still a big, big mess in this area. City Officials Say they are making progress so far. They have talked about all a of the efforts, they have made, sunday and yesterday a a alone to get out on the city streets. They said that all through streets in philadelphia, will be cleared by the end have of wednesday. That is a a direct promise by mayor jim kenney after all of the salt that has been dropped, and all of the snow that has been lifted, and dumped on the the city streets but the the mayor says hang in there. Anyway, what we will tell but coming up, is we will show you some other spots, that the resident are complaining about, in the meantime, where we are right here, it the still looks like a big blade needs to be dropped to clear this whole street. City Administration Says they will take care of the main streets first and then hit the side street, if you have to see a plow on your street, then, the the Mayors Office says, you will see that by the end of wednesday, so, we will keep checking to make sure that happens, guys, back to you. Two full days it looks like. Dave kinchen, thank you. For those who depend on septa a to get around they are still dealing with delays because septa is not back in full operation mode as bob just said. There is snow left on the tracks as well as city and suburban road. Safety first, right. Many mass transit riders have similar experiences of septa trying to get backup a and running after the weekend snowstorm pounded tracks and rails. Riders experienced delays of 45 minutes and some trains were even canceled completely without any notice. Another issue, some Commuter Parking lots have not the been plowed. They canceled 59 30, they gave me no times. Then i took the subway, took the the 55 bus to warminster and then i a sat the there and waited for this train to get home. I was surprised because i know a lot of people that do use this train. Look, there is no way to get around it you have to use septa because your car is stuck. Now in camden where life is slowly returning to normal there. Most of the major road are cleared but side streets have in not yet been plowed. We have talked to frustrated people who say they are really tired of being snowed in. It sound like people from the philadelphia, right. Crews are working around the clock to clear those streets, Public Transportation on nj transit is backup and running for the the most part. City streets and crews say they will get your street cleared at some point but the word of the day is, patients. These are the tough storms that after a day of sunshine you cannot look out the the window and say it is unis i, how come there is still snow on my street. So 40 plow trucks are working to clear those road around the clock, camden district schools are closed to day, tuesday as the city continues to clean out. In Montgomery County workers at Elmwood Park Zoo cleaning up after the heavy snow collapsed this birds of paradise exhibit. This mesh roof was no match for saturdays blizzard. Exotic bird that usually live there were already in the different building before that roof caved in. The zoo is closed until further notice while worker clean up damage from the storm. It is not just in new jersey that is getting clobbered from the weekend storm. Fox 29 viewer send us this video from bethenny beach delaware sunny skies yesterday but storm and rough surf eroded the beach and chopped away half of the dunes, route one between bethenny and dewey beach is reopened after a flood waters subsided. Time right now is 4 10. Demolition started where a roof collapse under weight weight of of heavy snow. This building houses a number of different businesses but early sunday morning, people who live around here said they heard a big boom, hours later, this is what a public works cry stumbled upon. It will take days, to demolish this because of how big, that building actually is. To the lehigh county, allentown, clean up from nearly 3 feet of snow in some places continues this morning and today schools in allentown are closed. City crew was private contractors are working around the clock to clear those roads. Officials say crash, services, suspended until further notice. The mayor says it is unprecedented and crews are work varying hard to clear their streets. To be patient and i cannot stress that enough. They need to be patient. I understand your frustration. I get it. Were not being able to get the out to every street, in every district of the city. The the mayor went on to say he is asking schools and business toss allow resident to temporarily allow people to get back to their cars and use those parking lots so cars can clear those streets. 4 00 is 11. A woman jumps out of the moving koran i76. What the the car was doing when she leaped out. No more solitary confinement, why the president is now pushing for the the new law. Well, all right, so nothing yet as farrah as precipitation concerned and nothing major like we just had. We dont get blizzards that often and with the clean up that were going through, thank goodness we dont. We are watching leading edge of the frontal system coming through later on. I called it yesterday a little more than a nuisance storm than what we had over the the weekend but it still cause a couple of problems. Nothing this morning seems to be in the offing. But again, were going to watch this area of freezing rain moving toward williamsport right new but primarily for our northern and western suburbs, maybe about eight or 9 00 oclock this morning, we will take a look at possibility of maybe just a little bit of freezing rain or freezing fog, up there this morning which could be happening. Otherwise, it is not until later this afternoon that we will see a couple of stray showers, moving through the the area around 3 00 oclock. You will wills notice increasing clouds first, so it wont be as bright and sunny as yesterday and then throughout the rest of the evening and mess of the the night we do see an area of light showers and i think we will have warm enough temperatures that is all we will be dealing with is rain, but of course that could cause a whole set of problems with all that giant snow pack. Maybe not as much at the shore because they didnt get as much snow in places like cape may and down in southern delaware but still, that is your issue for later on today with a little bit of rain moving through. Mostly showers, but nothing, that is expect to be a deluge. The it is 25 degrees in philadelphia a right now. We could be seeing black ice. We have got 50 degrees in cincinnati. Fortysix in detroit. Fortysix in pittsburgh. So yeah, milder air is indeed going to be, going to be moving in and you will see even in our map of our area, very chilly to the north of us, 16 degrees in pottstown. Seventeen in allentown but 39 in wildwood. Forty in Atlantic City. It is 35 degrees in dover. Average high of 40 degrees. Yesterday we did make to it 406789 we will do lower 40s for today. The upper 30s, for tomorrow. And then 40 degrees on thursday. Now we will still have black ice issues, in the morning, on thursday, and we will still be watching the the coast on friday, for that possibility of a coastal storm we told you about yesterday but it is looking a little less likely that we will get much impact if any, at all from that storm. All we can look forward to now is a warming trend as we get in the weekend with upper 40s by the time we get the to sunday. That is your seven day forecast, bob kelly, you have a big problem on the blue route. Heres an example of the black ice we have been talking about that is out there this morning. Dont get that false sense of security. Anything that has even remotely had a chance to melt yesterday has refrozen on the overnight and out here on the major roadway. This is a live look the at the blue route 476 south approaching the the schuylkill. It looks like there was a plowing operation, penndot is trying to move the snow out of the way and that snow could make the road more icy, to begin with, and we have an overturned vehicle on the southbound side as you head down toward the schuylkill expressway. The lets go to the maps and we will put it into motion, we will hit it again and go for a ride out of mid county heading south to the schuylkill, the left lane is the only lane that is opened. Lets check with mass transit. I just talked to septa, they will attempt full services this morning. There were trains that were canceled yesterday, watch for slippery platforms, limited parking spots, the best scenario for any mass transit question right now would be to go to septa. Org, check your systems status and as we go to the next frame with the buses you will be able to see whether or not your busies back, and in service and what that detour is, same tiehl with that Regional Rail lines. They are attempting full services, pack your patients it will be a rough morning and buses will depend on the conditions of the streets. Limited services on the paratransit system, the only use medical appointments yesterday and for rest of the mass transit line up, the norristown high speed line is only operating from 69th street to bryn mawr only for the morning rush hour. Guys, back over to you. Okay, bob, thanks very much. Sky fox over a wild scene in south philadelphia. They have lost three in a row. The that is sports in a minute. Im howard eskin. This wind with is brutal. Three days later people still digging out the from the blizzard of 2016. Schools still shut down. Businesses still cleaning up. Everybody getting back to normal. That you go out. It is tuesday, january 26th, 2016. We will run at the bottom of the screen there the the closures, the the delays, i know my kid are delayed by two hearst. But a a a lot of schools are closed this tuesday. Kid are happy because second snow take. A lot of parents are miserable. Well, we will continue to find something for kid to do because you still to have go to work. Sue, getting kid out and about on a day where they want to get out of the house isnt easy if you have to use the car sill. Thinks true not only digging out but dealing with the black ice until we get sunrise this morning. The not that we will see a lot of sunshine but you we expect rising temperatures but temperatures have fallen in the teens and 20s and the the pavement is shiny, it appears wet, it is probably, icy this morning. Road, shoulders, steps, and sidewalks, are where you really to have watch out. When we get to bob kellys traffic report you will see where we have had a big problem this morning. The it is 26 degrees in mount pocono. Sixteen in pottstown. The reading has 17, and lancaster has 24. Down to the south we have temperatures above freezing. Probably not as many black ice issues in Atlantic City, millville, wildwood and dover as we will have here. You can see piles of the snow in the city. 25 degrees. No wind chill, not much wind at all, because we dont have much wind at all, we may have some visibility, issues this morning. With 5mile visibility and reduced visibility in many places. So, we will watch that situation. We will watch that situation with an area of freezing rain in the center of the state of pennsylvania. Not here just yet. If it does anything it will probably just a if affect the northern and western suburbs, maybe just with some freezing fog, maybe not even any precipitation but that is not the case later on, everybody will probably get a few showers but but by that time it will be 42 degrees and temperatures will stay above freezing in to the evening hours, so a limited sunshine today, lots of cloud but we will get to 42 degrees and we will see some melting, bob kelly, later on but that cannot happen soon enough, right. Anything that melts is quickly going to refreeze overnight and that is what were seeing this morning with the black ice issues out there. The one big problem is right here, on the blue route, it is southbound lanes, of 476, a approaching the schuylkill expressway, and if you take a look real closely here it looks like that right lane you are moving along and then bam, you hit a big snow pile and that sent this fellow airborne and upside down. Im in the sure if this is one of those active overnight plowing operations that penndot has been doing but that is an example of what is out there this morning. Again, there is still a lot on the roadways, major roadways have snow banks in some of the travel lanes. I know they have been trying to clear that. But 25 degrees anything that looks wet is certainly iced over. Lets keep it rolling. We will in the do that. September, i just heard from september, they anticipate a full call out this morning, full service is the goal, however, as we saw yesterday the streets and buses will all depend upon the plowing operation, with the city. So your best bet go to septa. Org, click on systems status to see the the latest on your bus or train and cct paratransit they are going to have priority trips today with medical emergencies and work, new jersey transit, patco, dart they will attempt full service but again, expect delays as we try to slowly get back to normal, chris and lauren, back over to you. With that said crew is very busy plowing those streets. But too many streets still covered but mayor promises help is coming your way very soon. Dave kinchen live in West Philadelphia with the mayors message and what he is seeing out there, hi there dave. Reporter we will get to the mayor in a bit. We are taking a sight survey ourselves moving around West Philadelphia to take a look. We look at 52nd street it is not only clear and wet but if you look down larchwood it is a different story. It looks like they didnt even drop the blade here to plow all the way through. Cars are wedged in and parked every which way. This is one of those side streets but the the mayor says he will have his teams get to you by the end have of wednesday, by the end of wednesday all through his streets will be addressed. The mayor talk about the progress made so far. Meanwhile conditions here, they continue to require assistance. Tens of thousands office salt has spread across city streets, plows have hit more than 1800 miles of city streets but major challenges remain with City Resident wondering when crews will get to their street. The the the mayor simply says hang in there. I recognize if it the is your street, it is important to you and if you are in the out yet, you are frustrated and i recognize that but we have to go through this methodical way to make sure that the city get back to work as soon as possible. Reporter mayor praising Philadelphia Police for stepping up in the effort. Meantime the marries office say all through streets in the city of philadelphia will be cleared by the end of wednesday, so residents certainly holding the City Administration to that. Dave, having been out in those neighborhoods in West Philadelphia and north philadelphia, i necessity they are saying they will work on it the all day tuesday and all day wednesday but boy they have a lot of work to do. So hats off to those crews trying to get people unstuck. Reporter absolutely. From West Philadelphia to the new jersey shore storm clean up there. The the governor has some choice word. Those word really upset some people hoff a big mess on their hand. Steve keeley live in West Wildwood with more on this. Steve, good Morning Report report no audio. It sound like we are having audio issues, steve. We want to hear what steve is saying so lets figure out is what going on and we will check back with steve because governor christie is under fire this morning with the response to this storm. Blizzard on demand, it seems instead of playing out in the the snow this weekend, people were doing Something Else inside, how many people along the east coast were tuning into movies, and shows, we will tell you when we come back. They were chillin. Grover cleveland here. Yes, the dashing fellow on the thousanddollar bill. With cash4life, the great game from the pennsylvania lottery, you could win a thousand dollars a day for life you could buy a new house or maybe even treat yourself to a trip to the islands. And with drawings every monday and thursday, that means 2 chances to win every week. Cash4life from the pennsylvania lottery. You could win a thousand dollars a day for life. Stevely has been at the jersey shore. Chris christy has taken some heat as clean up continues in West Wildwood. That is where steve is right now. Steve, good morning. Reporter you heard dave say problems in West Philadelphia and here we are with the continuing problems in West Wildwood. We were here yesterday and people still somebody elses boat and trailer in their front yard, and then further down, next door neighbor somebodys dock and a bunch of debris in their front yard. A across the street a normal puddle by the curb now has a jet ski loaded with sea weed in it floating in here from somewhere. You can tell around here people started to clean up on day one, if they werent year round residents, a a lot have people came down to see how their shore houses faired and saw that they didnt do too well. As we spin around you can sianni walk back towards my location here you can see previous storms told people we need to have they are houses a lot higher up. So a house here on the corner, being raised since sandy, and so no damage on that house that was already damaged from the previous storm. They know they are in a low lying area for every storm and to hear their governor say there was no damage here they just say you know what maybe he is worried about campaigning and spoke too soon. He spoke too soon on one thing, chris and lauren when he had that News Conference before he headed back to New Hampshire he said they had no deaths in new jersey. Now number of deaths in new jersey up to five and we did find out about one of the five people being from south jersey a man in East Greenwich down in Gloucester County his car got stuck in the snow, he tried to abandon the car and walk home. Kent make it. They fun him dead in the snow bank. So sad and tragic. Steve keeley, thanks very much. By way of the storm this weekends storm kept a lot of people along the east coast indoors and that meant people were watching tv at overtime. At one point saturday nearly 1. 3 million comcast customers used xfinity on demand to watch movies a and to tv shows at the same time. Officials say that is a record for simultaneously use, in total on demand viewing for comcast, the biggest Cable Tv Network provider in the u. S. It was up 23 percent from the week earlier. Philadelphia and new jersey viewer ship saw second highest up tic at 50 percent. What were people watching . Here we are shades of blue and game of thrones were a among popular tv shows. Hotel transylvania was most watched free movie for all of the kids. The the internist a deniero film was most rented movie except in washington and baltimore where customers were watching matt damon and mar shan. I liked that film. Officials say Internet Usage was up by 34 percent in new york city. What else will do you. Netflix. Yes, were still stuck. Pokemon is taking over super bowl 50. Why . We may be talking about the the character rather than the game, coming up. Younger than springtime, anita baker, and she still sound great. I think she still tours and sings around. Just an amazing, amazing voice. So happy birthday to anita baker. I like having a sound track on my Weather Forecast too. Yeah. That is an excellent one. Heres what we have got going on, on ultimate Doppler Radar you can see area of freezing rain, rain, moving through central part of the state. Will it make it here . It looks like some of it is drying up as we get closer, and it looks like it may clip those poconos mountains and maybe lehigh val which a tiny bit, it doesnt take much to make things slippery, tiny bit of freezing rain or maybe just freezing fog this morning. You can see it showing up in the fox future cast, maybe by eight or 9 00 oclock this morning but then that goes a away. We will see sunshine, lot of cloud cover, by 3 00 oclock were talking about showers in our air use. The umbrella looks like a good idea. We will be warm enough or mild enough that we wont be dealing with anything but rain and that was certainly showing up on radar as we get into seven or 8 00 oclock down to the south of us, we may see steady rain but for most of us, it is spotty showers around and this area of rain this nuisance storm will be here until about midnight, 2 00 in the morning it is gone when we are together again tomorrow morning it shouldnt annie issue again at all. We will have more sunshine and melting because you we have almost 2 feet of snow or some cases month tore get rid of. 25 degrees in philadelphia a. Be careful. There is a lot of black ice around but milder temperatures. Nashville is 56 degrees. We will get that milder air in here later today but right the now it is below freezing to the north of us, pottstown, allentown, reading in the teens but 40 degrees in Atlantic City and 37 in millville, 35 in dover. Fewer problems with black ice there and just to show you wind chill map to prove that were not any colder then it actually is as far as wind chillies concerned. That is not an issue today. We have managed to inch up to 40 degrees yesterday. We will do 42 today, increasing clouds and then late day showers, partly sunny skies on wednesday, and we will have increasing cloud on thursday, still watching that coastal storm but it is looking less and less likely that it will impact our area i cannot rule it out completely yet so we will watch it and warm up by the weekend and by end of the weekend we have a high close to 50 degrees on sunday. So something to look forward to bob kelly because it isnt good right now. It is not. You want to be careful this morning because were in the the process of cleaning up this accident here on the blue route, 476, south approaching the schuylkill. What happened was a vehicle that was in the right lane clipped the snow bank here, again, all that snow pushed off to the side clipped bank, went airborne upside down here. That is an example we will find on our major roadways, again, this morning as they try to continually move the snow and manicure the the on and off ramps. Instead of the two lanes will quickly come down to one. Some of the off ramps, same deal, two lanes instead you come down to one. So until we get some daylight out there we are the the trailblazers this morning. Anything that looks wet is certainly frozen over. The heres the platt bridge coming up and over in towards Philadelphia International airport, again, philly international trying to him seven back to normal. The best advice i can give you for philly international and for mass transit for septa a, go to their web site at septa. Org and click on system status a frame there you can check every bus, every train and every norristown high speed line and see where they are. The situation has been changing hour by hour, especially with the buses as we lah live in allentown with what would have been a two lane roadway as we saw yesterday still down to only one. Maybe they will get one and a half in there but the Road Conditions will depend how the the bus routes will roll. So go to septa. Org, click on system status, and be able to be up to date there with the buses as far as market frankford and subway they are running night owl bus services until 5 00a m. Thin trains will kick in.
