John timoney who served as commissioner of the Philadelphia Police department from 1998 until 2001 died after a battle with lung cancer. Tim mon 93 came to philadelphia from new york city where he was second in command. He came to the city of brotherly love after serving as a top deputy to new york citys Police Commissioner bill bratton. Timoneys stay in philadelphia was not without controversy. Perhaps most notably during the Republican National convention in 2,000. The department was plagued with reports of controversial arres arrests. He later moved up to head the Police Department in miami. Still, police brass in philadelphia today say timoney was a role model. After that, we dry it out and during the Early Morning hours well see some breaks in the clouds. 7 00 a. M. , some sprinkles and clouds but by the afternoon a good deal of sunshine for your thursday and temperatures warming up again into the upper 80s lower 90s much this is what we expect between 9 00 p. M. And 3 00 a. M. Some drenching downpours. Some imbedded thunderstorms and if these storms go over the same region over and over we could be seeing localized flooding especially street flooding n general when the showers move through, were seeing about quarter of an inch to half an inch in the range in our commuter models with this rain during the overnight. So overnight, some showers and storms. 74 in the city. 70 in the suburbs. During the day tomorrow, morning clouds. Maybe even morning shower but then afternoon sun and humid conditions rise once again the temperature 90 degrees. So that would continue our heat wave. Today day eight. Tomorrow day nine.
