The Schuylkill River trail watch is officially launched. 80 approachable faces Police Officers runners, walkers, bikers, volunteers, cruising the path monitoring activity and reporting any potential safety issues on the trail, day and night. Part of being a Strong Community is actually volunteer your time. Runners, walkers, all realize theyre a part of the same community on the trail. The citizens are part of what makes the city great and so working together getting to know who else is out there on the trail can make a big difference. Reporter trail watch is the latest in series of safety enhancements. Other improvements along the trail include working lights an new geo coding system if you call police and tell them which mile marker youre at they will know exactly where you are. That makes me feel really good more because its the Community Coming together and protecting our park, and our children, and the families and the people who use the park. He has been in stable condition today upgrade from Critical Condition just last night. This morning and today he is awake and talking. We are told this is of course despite having been shot in the face among other gunshot wounds across his body. We know one bullet entered his nose and exited through his cheek this is really mack us will that not only is he going to be okay, but he is actually expected to make a full recove recovery. Now, again, the vigil here planned to take place in just a few hours here at borough hall in folcroft. The gathering is planned to celebrate officer dormans dedication they tell us to the people here in folcroft. The 25yearold was born and raised here. He still lives in the same house that he grew up in. According to neighbors in fact we went to that home yesterday and the woman next door said she actually watch the officer grow up, grow into a Police Officer and he still clears her snow outside of her house as he has done as he was growing up. Hes a parttime officer with the borough. Hes also a volunteer firefighter here since he was 16 years old. Now as you mentioned officer dorman shot seven times in the line of duty yesterday morning as he responded to what officials describe as routine call for suspected drug activi activity. 33yearold dante Brooks Island is now charged with attempted murder in this case. Now, a fund set up online has already raised 11,000 to help with officer dormans recovery. He was expecting to take a job with septa police before all of this happened. Now he has recovery ahead of him that fundraising thousands of dollars to help him do that and again the vigil here expected to start about 8 00 oclock outside borough hall. Investigators accuse is a kaya holmes of trying to cover up what happened. Holmes is now facing third degree murder charges in the death of her daughter sani. Sources say there was some kind of domestic argument between her and her boyfriend on thursday when they say somebody fired the gun and shot the baby girl in the face. Last night, the Community Held a vigil for the fouryearold. Police are looking for the boyfriend who took off after the shooting. This same thick mud thats whats inside of homes and businesses all throughout this town and throughout many other towns throughout this state. Folks here are just getting a chance to come home and see whats left. One of those is lisa rollins. She was home when the elk river started to rise and once it covered the first floor, she moved to the second. And when it covered the second floor, she had to move to the attic with her two dogs and an ironing board so she can have something to sit on. When she was in that attic she was frantically calling 911 for seven hours trying to get someone to rescue her and those waters were still rising. When youre sitting in an attic and watching the water rise, and you can go no higher, and cannot go out, its absolutely gut wrenching. Reporter earlier today, lisa got to eat food for the first time in three days. She said that all theyve had is bottled water that some neighbors were able to share with them until rescue crews were able to get back here into these areas. Unfortunately this condition could lead to blindness and so by picking it up, relatively early, we were able to prevent that from occurring. Mikes problem is controlled by medication and monitoring.
