You may remember our dave kinchen took us to his colon Cancer Screening after losing his own father to the disease several years ago. Here theyre pictured in paris. And again in rome. Were very close knit family as it is. We travel lot. We do lot of activities together. Reporter but they learned of a hidden scare inside 44yearold paul that threatened all of their happiness after watching fox 29s evening news one night last year. I grew up afraid of two words colorectal cancer. I saw you telling the story of your own Family History and how you felt it was important to go and get check out. Reporter they were among thousands tuned in as i took viewers along for my colorectal Cancer Screening at the hospital of the university of pennsylvania. Treat beside dr. Gregory ginsberg. Its truly an equal opportunity offender. You okay. I signed up for the testify at 31 because colon cancer claimed my father David Alexander kinchen when he was only 38. I always had this fear what happened to him could happen to me. My family would never be the same. What was running through my mind at the time my brother had been eventually diagnosed with colon cancer. My fatherinlaw had been recently diagnosed with colon cancer mine uncle had colon cancer as well and seeing you a young guy go get check out kind of motivated me perhaps it was time that i get myself screened. Paul went to his doctor after a series of referrals. Let yourself relax. His procedure looked a lot like mine they knock you out insert a probe just like one to search the colon walls. But paul was shocked by what doctors found. Three flat polyps in his stomach. Looking at those pictures was just an unbelievable experience. We saw circle where the polyps was. They showed us what was poll lip, what wasnt and things like that. It was very shocking. Flat polyps are harder to find and more likely to be cancerous doctors say. Paul doctor said his were like al few years away from turning into cancer. Thats when it really hit home. We were just dumb founded absolutely dumb founded when he showed us the pictures and laid out the pictures. We look at each other just real really in disbelief. They thought about the drastic changes they can have seen in their lives. Just every day things like were doing right now we take for granted we may not have been able to do this. Had that cancer progressed. If he was in chemo, i mean, he would be out of work and thats difficult for me because im a homemaker. Hes the bread winner. With the kids and him if he was going through chemo and radiation it would really changed our lives for the worst reallyreally. The doctor who says it was very fortunate that i had been screened early because had i waited until i was 50 years old thing could have been much different for me. Reporter those polyps are now gone. Doctors snipped them off during the scam. Meaning paul and kristen can focus on more happy times. Lets go. Reporter whether it be run running lapse more travel or just taking care of the boys.
