The flyers search for new head coach is over. Its done. Its finish. They have got their man but he probably isnt a name flyers fans are familiar with. Howard eskin is in the newsroom with more an a man who has never coached in the nhl before. Howard . Its not a name that i dont think anybody knows. Now teams will also say had he got the man they wanted regardless. Its always the case. New head coach never did coach professionally hockey and that includes the minor leagues. His name is dave hack stall. He was the head coach at the university of north dakota. Dave hack stall spent 11 year as the head coach at north dakota. Went to the ncaa tournament all 11 years. He wept to the final four of hockey seven of those years. But he is not the head coach that i think most flyers fans wanted as their new head coach. The best head coach name was pete babcock of the Detroit Red Wings and im sure the gm ron hextall called about babcock but went with his gut. I wasnt going to choose the coach that was the peoples choice. The popular choice. I was going to pickly coach that i felt like for this franchise from today next year and moving forward he was the right coach. I dont have experience at this level. So im not going to pretend that i do but i do have great deal of confidence in what we do in what my philosophyies are and in the fact that theyll be successful here. The last coach with only College Experience to be hired in the nhl as a head coach was bob johnson but that was back in 1982 and that was with the calgary flames. Other doctors come from college to the nhl but not without pro experience. And one other note. Today in north dakota it was 33 degrees with snow. You think hack stall was glad to get out thereof . I talk to the new head coach about his lack of experience. More coming up later in sports. Id been glad to get out of there. Thanks howard. I love that name by the way. Its going to be comfortable and cooler so iain youre probably going to need a jacket if you step out to grab a bite to eat later on. Thanks fort heads up. It will be noticeably cooler out there but also well have the threat of some popup showers and storms at least through tomorrow. Patchy fog could develop in spots overnight especially those that saw some of the downpours this afternoon. A pleasant stretch will begin for the middle of the week and how about this . If youre planning ahead it looks like it will be a nice start to the upcoming memorial day weekend. Hard to believe that we are just days away from the unofficial start to summer. As far as conditions right now take a look at this. Already down into the low 70s for the philadelphia area. Still a little muggy with that humidity but look at the wind direction. Out of the east northeast at 16 miles per hour. So it is a little breezy you can see the trees out there and those temperatures are dropping. In fact take a look north and east of philadelphia. Its only in the low 60s for trenton. We have 60 degrees in wrightstown. Low 60s right now in atlantic city. But off to the west, its still a little warmer. We have near 80 degrees right now in lancaster so the wind direction coming in off of the ocean drawing down some of no cooler air across our area. So theres still the threat for few pop up storms especially west but otherwise pretty comfortable if youre stepping outdoors. By 11 00 oclock 67 degrees with that threat of some patchy fog out there. So as we look at ultimate doppler right now, you can see most of the action still off to the west around the harrisburg area. Some of this will try and move toward the pocono mountains and the lehigh valley. Earlier this afternoon we saw some downpours around salem county as well as sections of Chester County. Right now diminishing coverage as we move into sections of delaware right now. But we certainly need the rainfall. Take a look at the have and have nots around philadelphia. We didnt see a whole lot of anything but just off to the west around Chester County, you can see some locations closing in on 2inches likewise into sections of salem county as well as sections of New Castle County in delaware. So heres whats happening right now on ultimate doppler. We have that back door front moving in from the north and east as opposed to the west that we typically find our front. So thats cooling us down for now. But tomorrow were going to be in this unstable air mass off to the west. That will bump our temperatures back up and keep those scatter scattered thunderstorm chances in the offing as we roll the clock ahead tonight most of the coverage for storms off to the west. By 11 00 oclock still watching that pop up activity. To the west mainly of the philadelphia area and then by tomorrow morning, were cloudy, some patchy fog in spots and well have to watch during the heat of the day tomorrow for once again some scattered coverage of those showers and storms across the area but then that front is going to cleanse the atmosphere, giving us a comfortable middle and latter part of the week setting us up for a pretty nice start to the upcoming holiday weekend. So what about the pollen for tomorrow . Not that bad in the medium category but by the middle and latter part of the week it moves back into the high category just keep that in mine. For tonight temperatures are going to be pretty comfortable. Scattered storms off to the west mainly of the philadelphia area. Some patchy fog out there as well. And then as we move ahead to tomorrow were back into the pea soup temperatures back into the low 80s. Partly sunny to mostly cloudy with pop up showers and storms especially during the heat of the day and dont forget about the middle of the week. Well be out in media Delaware County as fox 29 spring fling continues weather looking pretty nice for that so come on out and say h any of the media.
