Hard to find a dry eye in this crowd that was gather outside the funeral home. Take a look behind me. Officers continued to go inside the funeral home to pay respects to fallen officer Robert Wilson. It was a moving procession as they stood in formation this was earlier this afternoon. They covered this West Philadelphia neighborhood surrounding the funeral home where officer robertville wilsons body is for a viewing tonight. Crowds of people stood on the sidewalks watching. Many could be heard saying it is such a sad time for our community. Most didnt know the officer but say he died to save the lives of so many others who were in that store the day he was killed. Emotional commissioner Charles Ramsay spoke coming outside of the funeral home. Ive only been here seven years and this is the eighth time ive had to bury one of my officers. So its hard. Its very hard. Brave young man. Look at all the people he saved in that store. Could have been a whole lot of other ones. Many cops have been killed but this is overwhelming. I really feel, you know, the emotion of this day, you know so a real sad day but i personally a i pray for his family. Reporter and the viewing will continue tonight until 8 00 oclock. A man out walking his dog last night gunned down just a short distance from his home. Family members and neighbors are still shaken while Police Continue the search for the shooter. Reporter chris 51yearold father and husband james stole man was gunned down on the street right behind me last night while he was out walking his dog with a flashlight in his hasnt. Tonight police tell us theyre not sure if this was a random killing or he was targeted. Nice guy. Landscaper. Always with his daughter and his wife. Reporter thats how andre described his neighbor james stoleman gunned down thursday night a block from his home. I was upset. Couldnt hold it in. Reporter andrews stole stoleman walk his dog molly every night. He was shocked by his 51yearold neighbors murder. Were tightknit family here. Its kind of like unbelievable. One of the neighbors heard a pop. And that was it. Reporter investigators say stoleman was found lying on the ground about mid block on woodcrest just after 8 30 thursday night. His dog molly sitting right next to his body. Thats when police discovered hed been shot in the chest. Right now it does not appear to be rob breach however his wallet was still on him, he had cash on him. Reporter Police Bulletin was placed on cars urging neighbors in they Say Something to Say Something. Neighbors say violence is extremely rare here. Car break ins and burglaries are the only crimes they see. I have detectives out there canvass the entire area for potential witnesses and home physical some video. All i want to do was to fix my son. I didnt take who it took. I didnt care who i had to tell. Reporter ed may not be able to fix his son. But he feels some assurance knowing he may be able to save his life. I have it in my jacket now. I bring it everywhere i go. Because you never know. Reporter ed is talking about narcan the drug used to reverse a heroin overdose. He got trained on how to use it because his 23yearold son mike is battling heroin addiction. It was completely devastating devastating. You know, it really hit home. Reporter ed says his son mike started using drugs when he was 19yearold. But it wasnt until mike was 21 that ed learned he was hooked on heroin. June 2013 it was a sunday. Reporter it was almost too late. I can remember reaching for the doorknob wonder buying the bathroom door was closed, and it wasnt locked and when i opened up the bathroom door i remember seeing my son sitting there with a belt around his arm and you know pretty strong. As i walk into the bathroom he was just pulling the needle out of his arm. I start to do cry. And, upping, asking my son why . Reporter that day ed realized he could have lost his son and he vowed that would never happen if he could help it. Today ed is one of many parents training to use narcan desperate to prevent their child from fatally overdoseing. Beth richter once his class in pine hill, new jersey. Shes a nurse with south Jersey Aids Alliance she goes over the science of an overdose. Blue lips or blue fingertips. Reporter shows the class how to administer both the injectable needle. And nasal version of narcan while waiting for help to arrive. We want to get 911 on the way. The narcan does not fix an overdose. Reporter shes taking the class because shes concerned about heroin and she has 1684 old. Very dangerous and it kills. Reporter she says she doesnt believe her son is using drug but doesnt want to be nay eve. You just see different people that go from using pills to heroin and those people think it wont be their kid or their husband of husband or their daughter or their parent. And it happens. Reporter sarah plans to keep the kit at home show her son how to use it reason he can find it. So that hes never afraid for whatever reason. If he has friends over and something happens and he knows he can come and get me or get the kit. Reporter heroin has become a top killer of young people. Sarah worries about it almost more than anything else. It used to be i was worried about my son getting his drivers permit and one of my biggest worries is him being some place that doesnt have to be a party any more something that kids do on their own. Pine hill Police Patrolman attended the training hes administered narcan successfully having eight of the departments 14 safes during overdose calls.
