A history professor at Delta State University was killed inside his office this morning. Right now investigators are searching for another school employee. A geography instructor in connection with that shooting police say shannon lamb a person of interest and they believe he may also be involved in death of a woman who was found in her home about 300 miles away. They do not believe lamb is still on the Delta University campus. Earlier today, students and staff were told to seek shelter and stay away from windows. Lamb is believed to be armed and dangerous. We of course will continue to update this story for you as soon as we get any new information. Traffic moving again on the north philadelphia street closed for the past couple of days because of a huge water main break. A fortyeight inch main hunting park avenue and westmoreland street broke saturday night sending 15 million gallons of water into the street. Streets in that area were closed while Water Department crews made repairs but roads are now reopened. Crews recovered the single engine plane that crashed into the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Atlantic City last week. Authorities say they pulled the plane from the water on saturday night. Its now being examined at a salvage yard. Crews also found a body in that wreckage. Faa sestett skateyearold pilot Michael Moore departed from a flight to Atlantic City from gaylord michigan last thursday. Theres no word yet on what caused the crash. Of course, every day is trash dumping day on the 2300 block of mary street. Neighbors like this one are fed up. We have tvs, dresser stands and trash bags, kids toys. Short dumpers from as far away as new jersey and delaware show up when the sun goes down. The trash this street with their garbage. Usually its done with a pickup truck or something. Somebody will back the pickup truck in and have somebody unload it and its get out here as fast as possible. Reporter neighbors have been calling the city of chester for years to complain about dumping here. Its one of the worst spots in the city were told. As soon as it gets cleared, the dumpers return. The trash makes it impossible for cars to pass. People even have a tough time kicking their way through the mess. Photographer Elaine Fisher noticed this human shape wrapped in a blanket and tied off at beth ends. It looked like a body might have been inside. So i called chester police. Half dozen officers were quickly on the scene. They, too, thought it might be human. But when they unwrapped the bundle, it turn out to be rolled up carpet. Good news. But while they were there, they decided to reach out to the city highway department. Crews were there in a heartbeat to begin cleaning up the mess. No time at all, mary street was passible and. able. But neighbors around here say this repeated cleanup treats the symptoms, not the disease of illegal dumping. They can use the resources to clean the alley up and post it and light it for the price theyre paying for cleaning this alley up all the time. Bad news tonight for troubled south jersey bankruptcy lawyer the subject of a fox 29 investigation and now he is facing criminal charges. Jeff cole is in the newsroom with the details. Drink water the third charged with five counts of theft of illegal retention one for each alleged victim who made a complaint with Gloucester County prosecutor office. Just last week fox 29 investigators reported that some of his alleged victims had been called before a grand jury. It didnt take long drink water is now criminally indicted if convicted he could actually go to jail. Last may fox 29 investigates told the story of drinkwaters south jersey clients who paid him to file bankruptcy but in some instances he never filed their cases. After our report Gloucester County detectives began asking his alleged victims for proof of wrongdoing. Here is what we heard back in may. Everybody needs to get every cent back they gave this man. He needs to get in serious trouble. Mr. Drinkwater they claim that you took their money. These are people who didnt have anything. She says her name will no longer appear on marriage licenses issued by her office. Kim davis claims this will allow her to keep her job without compromising her religious beliefs. Marriage licenses in rowan county will be issued by her deputy clerks and stamped pursuant to a court order but will not bear her signature or title. That could make the license lics invalid. The valley fire charring thousands of acres of land in lake county since igniting on saturday. Flames destroying hundreds of homes and other structures and forcing thousands to flee. It grew at explosive rates, and again, this morning, that fire is 61,000 acres and only showing about 5 containment. Residents in middletown hit especially hard. Entire blocks of houses and apartment buildings destroyed. The wreckage still smoldering. Cars reduced to little more than burned frames. Many say theyve been left with nothing. My medicine, my trucks, my boat, my clothes. Theres been tears shed. Everybody is feeling the loss. The valley fire just one of several burning in the trout stricken state. The butte fire consumed more than 100 home. Yesterday aircraft was able to fly that fire again because the smoke inversion had lifted, and they provided a significant number of aerial Fire Fighting drops to support the firefighters on the ground. Reporter the fire remains out of control east of the fresno the largest wildfire in california destroying more than 200 square miles. Thousands of residents remain evacuated. Winds of change and of course were talking about the fall preview now. Low humidity and it look like a dry stretch for really the entire seven day period. However, the temperatures, that will be changing its going to feel a little more like summer in that seven day forecast but right now take a look at this. Beautiful conditions. A pair of sevens look at that humidity only at 26 . And heres that breeze iain was talking about that he noticed out of the north northwest at about 15 Miles Per Hour ushering in the drier more comfortable air. So as we take look at the satellite and radar, take look at this area of low pressure continuing to move away from us. So thats allowing for High Pressure to settle in overhead. We have clear skies and once again we have low dew points so that will be an indication that temperatures again tonight are going to be a little chilly dropping into the 40s for some far north and west. Take a look at the wind speed right now you can see winds still out of the north and west from 10 to about 15 Miles Per Hour sustained and look at the temperatures. Still pretty comfortable if youre stepping outdoors. No problems at the ballpark. Backyard barbecue walking the dog looking good. 77 degrees in millville. Were looking at if he right now in pottstown and take look at the dew points once again the measure of moisture in the atmosphere any time we get those dew points below 60 it feels comfortable but look at the dew point readings in the 40s. So definitely a fall like air mass overhead. So as we take look off to the west you can see 80s and, yes, 90s showing up in texas so this is some of the air that will eventually head in our direction as we move especially the middle and latter part of this week. Making it feel more like summer. As we take a look at temperatures for tomorrow morning, yeah, it will be cool and crisp. Mid to upper 50s in philadelphia. Were looking at 53 degrees, low temperature in west chester and take a look at berks county. Reading, 48 degrees for the low temperature tonight. Were looking at 48 degrees in allentown. So it is going to be a little chilly again this evening. South jersey were lookin lookit those numbers for you. Millville 56 degrees. 53 in wrightstown. 55 for the low temperature in Atlantic City at the airport there. Mid 50s in dover. So once again, clear skies and were talking about those dew points pretty low those temperatures will fall when the sun sets this evening across the area. Three years into that and i have three more years to go. So for me sixyear process making me a priest. Reporter 26yearold eric ban any kerr recalls making the live changing decision to enter the holy call to serve the catholic church. I first started thinking about it late in my high school years. But of course when youre 17 years old there are thousand other things you wanted to including getting married. Hes now a student at Saint Charles seminary in wynnewood. Seminary is there to help you discern whether or not god is calling you. So there are plenty of guys in the seminary who are not actually called to be priests. Reporter we talked to eric at his home parish in south philadelphia where he was baptized and raised in catholicism. In those years i began to think about i really like tal talking about the church. I like talking about our catholic faith. And so it became clear to me through prayer and really conversations with good priests i knew who said you really need to give this some thought. Reporter eric is one of a declining number of young men deciding to join the priesthood. Something about the age that makes it harder to listen to gods call, you know, to the call of service. Reporter according to the center for applied research the number of priests in the United States decreased from nearly 59,000 in 1975 to about late 38,000 in 2015. Thats about a 35 drop. Over that same 50 year period, nuns have seen a 72 decline. Eric says he understands why. I think its a fear of commitment. Im 26. So i have friends that, you know, from college who, you know, are dead set on pursuing a certain profession, medicine or law or business or whatever it is. Reporter despite a national decline in vocations the archdiocese of philadelphia says it gained 20 new seminarians at saint karl seminary this year compared to last. And they say overall enrollment is up by 20 . Seminarians when john paul came in 1979. The young men who do respond to the priesthood discover and they are willing to commit to that life because they believe that there will be great joy and freedom that can come from that sacrifice. Reporter he believes the trend in vocation to the catholic priesthood are similar to that of other religions. And i believe that that has to do with changes in our society and the challenge that young people fear of making a life commitment at a young age. And he doesnt deny that sex abuse at the hands of some priests still playings the catholic church. The sexual abuse of children is a grave evil, and certainly ear roads trust, and i believe in the recruitment of young men for the priesthood perhaps it could maybe discourage parents from encouraging their sons to think about this.
