Deadly nerve agent. Aside choked out the lives of helpless men, women and childr children. It was a slow and brutal death for so many. Even beautiful babies were cruelly murdered in many very barbaric attack. No child of god should ever suffer such horror. Tonight i ordered a targeted military strike on the airfield in syria from where the chemical attack was launched. It is in this Vital National security interest of the United States to prevent and deter the spread and use of deadly chemical weapons. There can be no dispute that syria used chemical weapons, violated its obligations under the Chemical Weapons Convention and ignored the urging of the un security council. Years of previous attempts at changing as sads behavior have all failed and filed very dramatically. As a result, the refugee crisis continues to deepen, and the region continues to destabilize threatening the United States and its allies. Tonight i call all civil advised nations to join us in seeking to end the slaughter and bloodshed in syria. And also to end terrorism of all kinds and all types. We ask for gods wisdom as we face the challenge of our very troubled world. We pray for the lives of the wounded and for the souls of those who have passed and we hope that as long as america stands for justice and peace and harmony will in the end prevail. Good night and God Bless America and the entire world. Thank you. Well this change of policy in syria has some big implications for global politic. Joining us on the phone tonight Michael Boyle ph. D. And associate professor Political Science at lasalle. Thanks for joining us. Yesterday President Trump said his attitude about civils war changed and said he wouldnt let us know when u. S. Respond to this chemical attack. Is this air strike a surprise, michael . This is a surprise. I mean even couple days ago you had both Rex Tillerson and secretary of state nicky haley United States saying removininga sad was not a priority n a sense as sad attacked. Attack very close to Something Like bill clinton single missile attack targeted facility message to the as sad regime and the implied message well come after you. Michael, harsh words tonight from secretary of state Rex Tillerson about russia pretty much dropping the ball keeping chemical weapons out of syria. So what does that mean for u. S u. S. russian relations . Well, part of whats going on here i think the Trump Administration trying to signal a tougher line towards russia its interesting that about the actual strike that they contac contacted and warped russia in advance the idea deacon flick the air space one of the great concerns if us military strike killed russian personnel theres a real risk of case laying. So on one level theyre trying to look tough against russia. On the another level theyre trying to make sure that they dont make find themselves in situation with an accident orcas lates laying they dont want that creates a greater International Crisis with russia because the stakes there are so much higher. All right. Michael boyle. Also, you know we talk about President Trump was talking about a line in the sand. What do you think this means for his presidency . This is pretty big step for him this early on. It is. Its signaling events towards something very similar to what clinton d very similar to what obama threatened to do to use limited military force to change the balance on the ground. Interesting question will be where he goes from this. If you warn the as sad regime and you warned russia the strike was going to happen that implies you wont escalate. So the question at the moment is this the step toward a greater escalation with Ground Troops or further strikes in syria or is this a one off attack in which case its not similar to what his predecessors did. Were starting to see new much more internationally trump very different than the trump we saw in the campaign. Michael boyle thanks for your insight. Thank you. We will bring you breaking details. You can head to fox 29. Com for any updates around the clock. Good day philadelphia of course will have breaking updates all morning long starting at 4 00 a. M. Iain, ill tell you those rain rates were about one to 2inches an hour and thats why you had that flooding on area roads. Poor drainage flooding and now were seeing pretty quiet conditions. Ill explain why we all Los Ron Burke looks at an aspect of baseball that is gone and forgotten but not for the good of the game. His commentary in 15 seconds. Baseball is back these days but for too long theres been something missing. The art of the stolen base is gone. All the evidence tells us its not coming back. Phillies reds series there were 36 runners left on base. 36. Only three successful steals. Dozens of opportunities to affect the game on the base pass amount to do nothing. Stealing bases takes work. It requires knowing pitcher tendencies so well hes as concern as the base runner as he is about the batter. Lou brock and Ricky Henderson Vince Coleman tim rains were all that type of threat. The player that could go zero for four impact game because a walk could be more exciting than a base hit. Henderson once stole a roar 130 bases in a season in the american league. Last years al leader stole 43. The year before, 38 led the league. Now its clear the powers that be and fans dig the long ball.
