Reporter lucy, it is now been nearly 13 hours since a group of inmates have taken control of a building inside of delawares largest mack mum security prison. Four employees including corrections officer taken hostage inside that. Two of them have been released today along with dozens of other inmates. Statewide prison lock down continues tonight. Four employees including Corrections Officers and a counselor were taken hostage by Prison Inmates in building c of the james t. Vaughn correctional facility. One officer was injured. Sources say beaten badly in the takeover. He remains in the hospital tonight. Two of the employees were released along with 28 inmates. Its believed nearly a hundred inmates remain unsecured inside. We dont know the dynamics of the takeover and we don know the dynamics of any inmates were held against their will or if these inmates simply requested to be released werent released. Reporter Law Enforcement including f bit. I are on scene. Prison negotiators who were in contact with inmates are making demands but officials wont say what they are. In the meantime, people who live near the prison are on edge. We saw troopers on top of troopers coming down. I knew immediately it has to be something at the prison. What i keep hearing is not enough yards. Thats the problem half the time theres not enough guards and theres a lot of them they do a lot of overtime and theyre stressed out and tired. Reporter prison officials couldnt say how much staff they have or if they have enough to keep the peace. Any correctional facility, were doing staffing analysis right now to determine the amount of staff we need. Sources say it all got rolling the investigation that is when School District officials tipped off narcotics investigators. Im just so in shock to know that this took place. Reporter as parents picked up students at George Washington High School Wednesday night, they werent talking about upcoming report card conferences. They were talking about a cafeteria worker at the school who was arrested during a drug investigation. Its scary because you send your kid to school. You wouldnt expect anything from cafeteria or maintenance or anything above. Reporter physical narcotics officers made the arrest of the 31yearold Food Services employee after being tipped off that the employee may have been selling marijuana to students inside the sprawling high school in northeast philadelphia. They say the Food Services worker will be removed from the school pending the out come of narcotics probe. They will await final charges before deciding whether to terminate him.
