Our dave kinchen live in ocean city tonight with more on how the people there are dealing with all of that water. Dave . Reporter well, thomas and lucy, neighbors tell us were in the worst part of ocean city for flooding. Several hours later and you can see all the water still on the road here, wine the way, with high tide and full moon many are bracing for another round. Its a drag. Reporter simpson avenue near 32nd looks more like a lake after hours long rain fell with people getting through on foot on bike and with four wheels. But when the waters to ,2 ,2s too high cars were become wash casualty. Last week we had a car lost somebody on vacation didnt know about the cars tides and they lost car. Reporter drivers forging through its roadway riffs in cape main and the same in wildwood. But in ocean city, theres word of eventually relief. They keep saying theyre fixing it, and we havent seen anything yet. There are pipes a few streets down theyre working on it. Reporter there is drainage project to help part of the city set to continue construction right after labor day. The mayor says its just not safe to do the work in the middle of the summer. Dave, were talking about one to 3inches across a good part of that area and some spots saw even higher accumulations of rain. Take a look now where we have mostly cloudy skies and just a few spotty showers through south jersey and delaware. Obviously earlier today buckets of rain and higher amounts you can see in Cumberland County 5inches. 3. 8 in millville and as you head towards sea isle and also toward ocean city at least one to 3inches. In dover 3. 5inches of rain fell but the heaviest by far between cedarville at 5. 4 and fortescue in Cumberland County four and 5inches of rain. Some spots as much as 6inches. This area of low pressure is the culprit thats moving offshore and tomorrow will be a much drier day. So this is what we can expect. A few lingering showers tonight. Slow to clear overnight. We dont know at this point how many times he was shot. But he was taken to Temple University hospital in critical but stable condition. The officers came here as a result of a citizen call and encounter add man, saw he was armed. The male then engage the police, fired and the police were forced to return fire. Reporter police say the man fired two shots in their direction hitting the home. Officers fired unknown number of times back striking the suspect believed to be in his teens or early 20s. Police are looking into whether the man may have been connected to an earlier carjacking. The car found on the street along with a holster and the weapon recovered. When those bullets hit natashas house, she jumped up from bed to check on her other two kids on the first floor. A third one outside. Of one was okay. Activists are calling for justice in a Police Involved shooting that left a 30yearold man dead in north philadelphia. Demonstrators gathered on Market Street in center city in honor of david jones. Jones died in june after Philadelphia Police officer ryan, shot and killed him. Police say jones was riding recklessly on his dirt bike and reached for a gun before the officer shot him. Earlier today protesters shut down a city hall news conferen conference. Now, Philadelphia City Council President Darrell Clark issued a statement after the incident. It reads in part, because of the circumstances in which mr. Jones was shot and killed, including conflicting witness accounts and the troubling fact that he was not from behind, we need a thorough investigation. The Philadelphia District Attorneys Office has referred this matter to the office of the attorney general due to a conflict. In south jersey investigators are looking into what started this fire when no one was home. Flames broke out on unit block of wet hodges avenue in lawnside around 6 45 tonight. Tributes have been pouring in over the last 24 hours for dutch who lost his battle with brain cancer over the weekend he was just 55 years old. Everyone remembering dutch has one thing in common, they do it with a smile on their face. They talk about his leadership, his friendship and they say he made their lives better. Theres a lot of good times. You wanted to be around the ballpark and wanted to be around him. He was infectious with the way he treated people and the way he went about his business. He had a special year. You know, the confidence he had, the way he ran the field, um, the way he led the pitchers, the way he led us as a team was just tremendous, and very unself fish player. He changed my life. He saved my life. Daulton was diagnosed with brai cancer in 2013 and he fought so bravely. Services will be private but the Darren Daulton foundation is accepting donations in his memory. What way to honor him lucy. Indeed. You know his legacy with that foundation is helping families, thomas, who are dealing with brain cancer and tumors so many fans posting picks with dutch on their walls today. What started as a routine shift for Camden County Police Detective kenneth egan and partner officer nicole barry saturday night ended with what police brass are calling an attack on their lives. This video shows the man Authorities Say popped a well until front of detective egan knocking him on his back before driving over him. Officer barry was also hurt when the atv struck the police car as she tried to climb out. He intentionally ran this officer over trying to seriously injure him. This would have been much worse. Doctors say they dont expect to see this kind of aggressive brain cancer until the patient is in his or her 60s or older. Senator john mccain among the oldest. And because our brain does not feel any pain, a dramatic symptom has to present itself before theres a clue to even look for it. So this is a large tumor as you can see i mean this is almost the size of a tennis ball. Reporter and his patient never felt any pain. Never felt it growing. Says penn neurosurgeon dr. John lee just a gradual weakness in his left arm and leg. We have been very challenged in what causes them. What precipitates them. What makes them and we really dont know a lot about this. Reporter weve all heard more about glioblastoma in just the past few years. And months because of the famous figures who have been diagnosed and died. Former phillies great Darren Daulton passed away after his long battle with brain cancer. Glioblastoma is unfortunately our most aggressive form and Darren Daulton did very well. Four years for glioblastoma is actually on the excellent end of the spectrum. Reporter surviving a year and a half to two years after diagnosis is considered good. But most curious says dr. Lee is daultons age. As well as several other phillies players who died from brain tumors. Could there be a connection. Its really one of those scary things to think about. We know that are many cancers caused by things that were exposed to. Like smoking, viruses, and radiation. But glioblastoma has been a tough nut to crack. Reporter thats why he says people shouldnt be so quick to suspect a players environment or lifestyle. Yeah, i think that would be very preliminary to say that. We would have to do maybe compare who plays on astro turf and who plays on natural grass but thats not an easy study to do today. Reporter he says, earlier diagnoses, quick surgery an aggressive treatments are certainly helping patients live a little longer. But it will come back almost in the same spot. All his scans looked clean clean clean clean until here. And so its basically at the bottom of where i was operating. Reporter dr. Lee says, there is a good amount of research looking into blee yo blass tomorrow ma but they could use a lot more. He says the fact that theres such a short time period between diagnosis and death makes it a difficult disease to study for patterns and longterm results. Thomas and lucy. What you gather can help scientists understand the way sunlight interacts with the earths atmosphere. Were asking people all over the country to help us observe how the eclipse changing the atmosphere of the earth. Wonderful natural experiment thats happening. We know the shadow is going to pass by and thats going to change things like temperature levels, the humidity, clouds. So in fact the only thing that people need to be involved in this experiment is a very simple cheap thermometer and also an app that you can download for free. But even if youre not into the whole amateur scientist thing, she says just go out and see it. The entire process of the eclipse for the moon to go all the way across the sun actually lasts a couple of hours. In most place ifs youre lucky enough for the moon to entirely cover the sun, its going to last for about 2. 5 minutes of total darkness. So the whole thing start to finish a couple hours. Most dramatic part just a couple of minutes. Wherever you are in the United States youre at least going to see a partial eclipse. He was the leader and the glue to that 1993 World Series Team and today a bunch of friends and old teammates got together and sort of reminisced about the type of guy he was. Base hit down the left field line. Darren daulton was a lot of things to a lot of people. Its hard for me to explain it. Its just it was just a tremendous feeling that he gave us all. A leader in his own way. Wasnt a yeller or screamer. He knew how to get your attention. A player who held you accountable. Darren wouldnt let us fail. Inspiration to then phillies president David Montgomery who went through his own battle with jawbone cancer. The time i spent with him during the last four years the way in which approach this challenge was just inspiring and unbelievable. Unbelievable man. He was your best friend. And Lenny Dykstra had a special relationship with dutch even passed his playing days in 2012 dykstra plead guilty to bankruptcy fraud and dutch actually wrote a letter to the judge on dykstras behalf and today dykstra read that letter on facebook. So today offensive coordinator frank wright talked about agholor starting to turn things around. I really do think nelson has gotten over the hump and had a great spring an great Training Camp.
