Reporter lucy, after 16 hours of jury deliberations over two days, still no verdict tonight in the case against bill cosby. The legendary comedian left the Montgomery County courthouse just a little while ago. The jury came back around 9 10 this evening telling judge Steven Oneill they are simply exhausted. They want to go home for the night. Start fresh in the morning as the world continues to wait on a verdict. The jury still deadlocked tonight as the fate of bill cosby lies in the hands of a jury of 12 who continue to deliberate. Four times in the last two days, that jury of seven men and five women asked the judge to rehear testimony given during the trial including from the Canadian Police officer who first took the report from a and degree ya constand who claims cosby drugged and assaulted her. And now the defense with claims of unfair trial, a defense witness who would have accused of Andrea Constand of setting up cosby for financial gain was not allowed to testify leading to cosbys team to cry fowl. As the media encampment grows and the anticipation of a verdict builds there are other cosby accusers who say theyve waited long enough to see the 79yearold comedian pay for his alleged crimes. Now, earlier today, rosenstein was in the capital in a separate hearing saying he would not fire mueller unless he believed there were lawful and appropriate orders or it was absolutely necessary. The doctor in question is the widow err of a slain radio host whose Murder Police have yet to solve. Kauffmans Egg Harbor Township office and linwood home this morning. Her mother april cough map a well known radio host was found shot to death five years ago in the home she shared with her husband. No one has been arrested much to her daughters disappointment. This hole in my heart that exists is so indescribable. My had me when she was very young so we grew up together. The Prosecutors Office and fbi and Egg Harbor Township police served the search warrants for criminal activity unrelated to the 2012 unresolved murder. The situation became tense. When dr. Kauffman pull out nine mill neither handgun. He was very unstable coa at e time. He waived his gun towards Law Enforcement and threatened to kill himself. He was taken to a Psychiatric Evaluation Program at a local hospital before being cleared and subsequentl subsequently arn charges. Its a lot for to us take in today. That doesnt surprise me. Reporter Prosecutors Office would not disclose the nature of todays search and said it remains to be seen if it will impact the investigation into april kauffmans brutal murder. Her daughter is cautiously optimistic theyll soon get the answers theyve waited so long to hear. I miss my mom every day, and im small but im not going to give up hope and im also not going to stop until we have, um, justice for my mom, april. Reporter dr. Kauffman is currently jailed in the county prison. Hell have a detention hearing within the next 48 hours and the county prosecutor tells me hell most likely be detained until he faces trial on the gun charges. Dawn timmeney, fox 29 news. A judge sentence sentenced o life in prison at 19 years old. Tonight 43yearold sean thomas is officially a free man. In court this morning prosecutors said they will not try his case again. In 1990 jury found thomas guilty of killing a man in north philadelphia. Thomas has long claimed that he was at a juvenile Detention Center at the time of the crime so theres no way he could have done it. It took years of legal work by the pennsylvania Innocence Project to prove that and later last month, fox 29 was there as thomas was walked out of prison in schuylkill county. Tonight the search is on for some anonymous heroes strangers who went above and beyond in fact a local woman says those heroes saved two lives. So can social media help track them down . Our Shawnette Wilson picks up the story from clementon new jersey and joins us live. Shawnette. Reporter first of all, iain and lucy i actually got chills listening to this woman talk about the moment her daughter was drifting away from her. It was just terrifying. Now, theyre asking for our help finding the people who saved them. It had all the makings of a great day at the beach for the mattos family they went to Long Beach Island sunday the first day of a heat wave with temperatures over 90 degrees. They even brought back sea shells when they returned to their home in clementon but marsha recalls the moment the fun came to an end. That is when sheer terror kicked in for me because i couldnt get to her. She and her 11yearold daughter mariah decided to go out further into the water after her 13 year old daughter mikayla and other relatives swam back to shore. They were only waste deep in the water when rip current swept them out. I was like lets swim parallel bought thats what i read before that you swim like sideways parallel to the shore. So you swim out of it. But it wasnt working. We were still being pushed out. Reporter they were so far apart. It was the most helpless feeling ive he have felt in my life. Reporter marsha says then a man drifting toward them grabbed mariah a girl on a surfboard got them on and back to shore. Meanwhile, another man grabbed marsha. In all, five people pulled off a Daring Rescue safing this mother and daughter. I couldnt breathe. Like i was swallowing sea water. They only got to meet one of the five who saved them. They hope this story reaches them. I need them to know what they did. More than they probably realize. I would thank them for saving my life and my moms life. cause without her, i wouldnt be really be anything or even be here. Reporter karen rogers thinks it ought to be easier for her to get her father a 91yearold veteran to the beach up the 55th street ramp here in sea isle. Its the raw power of the ocean which draws 91yearold Edward Rogers a navy vet it to and the sights. Watch the girls. [ laughter ] you like to watch the girls . Reporter his daughter wishes it were easier to get him there from her 55th street Sea Isle City beach home. When the pair get to the 55th street ramp, rogers, a pharmaceutical rep, must turn into a stevedore pushing her dad in his surf chair up the ramp and hanging on as he rolls down the other side. Both ramps are extremely steep. So when i have to get under the chair to push it the weight of the chair plus pop and the ste steepness of the hill hill make it almost impossible. Reporter sea isle does have at least six americans with dissables act approval ramps to the beach. Fiftyfifth street is not one of them. Rogers argues she has to travel several blocks to get to them, doesnt have a pick up for his chair and almost as steep. She wants sea isle to fix the ramp at the end of her street. Lower it, get rid of the steepness and have it easy for somebody to access the beach. Reporter city Officials Say the dunes grew here under multi million Beach Restoration effort after hurricane sandy. The ramps to the beach became higher as well. Sea isles Business Manager who spoken with rogers says, they try to keep the sand at the 55th street ramp packed down. What we have tried to do is maintain it as best we can to keep it at least as easy as possible from a hard packed surface standpoint. Reporter says, there are residents who were op poe to the 6ada approved ramps they do have and adds changing the ramps is a heavy lift. Why cant you go to 55th and just dig that baby out and flatten it more take backhoe and dig it in and flatten it out. If i was permitted by law i would do that. I think theres certainly logic to that. To excavate the dunes now theyre in place requires a special permit in order to do that. Reporter sea isles administrator seems to understand rogers polite. Developing tonight, a desperate search underway for two escaped inmates accused of killing two Prison Guards in georgia. Authorities are very worried that donny row and ricky dubois could kill someone else. Investigators say the officers they killed were transferring them on a bus this morning with 31 other inmates. They say the pair somehow overpowered the armed corrections officers, took their guns then shot and killed them. Deputies say the two then carjack someone.
