Reporter iain, one investigator told me tonight these thieves are using laundromats like atm machines going for the quick cash. Northeast detectives just locked up two guys for 22 incidents. Now police are looking for three guys armed with gun. Its big business. Reporter when these three men walked into hongs laundromat on chew avenue saturday night they wouldnt looking to do wash or dry their clothes. They were there to rob the place. Immediately approach the owner who is engaged in a conversation with a customer. Announced a robbery. They produced a handgun. Reporter robbery was caught on cameras were unof the masked suspects point add gun at the back of the 47yearold owners head and marched him straight to the office. Demanding cash and ordering him to open up change machines. This is very vicious brazen robbery where there were customers inside the laundromat. Feel bad for my boss. This woman works at the laundromat. Customers come and go day and night. Seven days a week. She thinks the three bandits targeted her boss believing he keeps a lot of cash here. He think we have a lost money but we no make lot of money. Reporter northeast detectives just took down a twoman crew of thieves who also targeted Coin Machines at laundry facilities like the one located inside this bustleton avenue apartment complex. They also hit this complex laundry facility twice as part of threemonth crime spree that netted them thousands of dollars from 22 break ins. Theres a lot of money obviously in these machines, and theres no secret to people who wish to do the proprietor harm. You worried these guys might come back. Yeah, im worried he might come back. I hope catch the bad guy catch the bad guy. Robbers in this latest case got away with thousand dollars in cash. One of them may go by the nickname green. The two suspects arrested here in northeast philadelphia are in jail tonight on 200,000 bail each. Iain. Dave, thanks. One man is in trouble after police say he forced a kiss on a septa police officer. Heres some video from that officers body camera. It shows the man asking the officer for a kiss. Even after the officer says no, repeatedly, the man just will not give up finally grabbing and forcibly kissing her. That officer was on patrol at the upper darby terminal. Investigators say the officer turned on her body camera when the man would not leave her alone. And it capture the incident. It makes you angry when its over. You know when its all said and done, this is this is a woman who has a family who puts on a Police Uniform to come out and protect the public and some jerk, you know, thinks that he can just kiss her because shes a woman. A jury in new york says a former south jersey man killed a sixyearold boy in 1979. 56yearold Pedro Hernandez once lived in maple shade. A jury of his peers say that he killed eta patz. Patz became one of the countrys most eyeing connick missing children he disappeared in New York Soho neighborhood on his way to school. All these years later and his family is relieved that justice is finally been served. Hernandez confessed to the murder in 2012 but his lawyers argued then he was mentally ill. A grieving philadelphia family wants to make sure their tragedy will force a change for the better in the community. And now theyre working with local leaders to try to make sre it happens. Reports of a pursuit by Philadelphia Housing Authority police seconds before the crash and a new lawsuit filed in court have fueled that fathers request for answers and raised even more questions. Fox 29s Dave Schratwieser reports. Charismatic kind of guy. He loved life, loved people, loved his family. Reporter reverend john dawkins the third has had an empty feeling in his heart for almost a year now. Thats when he lost his 39yearold son john in a violent car crash. Whenever he was around he was the live of the party. And everyone just gravitated to him. Reporter reverend dawkins said 800 people attended his sons funeral to celebrate his life. But theres something troubling reverend dawkins about the cra crash. From my perspective and my familys perspective, the truth has not come out. Reporter the high speed crash was caught on Video Surveillance cameras as the car driven by john dawkins the fourth went airborne. Loses control driving at a high rate of speed and fixed several fixed objects a tree and a couple of poles and then eventual al property. Reporter march 2016 crash was so violent his 2014 infinity exploded into flames trappin him inside. Within minutes, dawkins was de dead. His body burned beyond recognition. The car had to be towed to the medical Examiner Office so expert cos remove the body and evidence from the crash. While i believe hes in a better place, i sure wish he was still here. Reporter fast forward to september and this lawsuit filed by reverend dawkins and his wife. They claim their son was deprived of his civil rights and the victim of a wrongful death caused by a police pursuit. Have you been able to determine who was following him at that point or pursuing him . I believe t was the Philadelphia Housing Authority police. Reporter the pha refused to comment for this story. Citing the lawsuit. We found the we decided to let it go. Sergeant evans was the supervising officer for pha police the night of the fatal crash. He has served 21 years with the pha police and received numerous commendations. He says he spoke to the two officers that night after the crash. He was called to the accident scene minutes after dawkins was pronounced dead and confronted with information alleging two of his officers were pursuing dawkins seconds before the fatal crash. Seen the car. Chased the car. Viciously doing 85 miles an hour, up to 85 miles an hour. No radio call. No call. Sergeant evans who passed away recently told fox 29 last december he was across town at the time of the accident. If they had went across the inner city and was in pursuit of someone, then it would have been a different story because it would have been my decision to tell them either keep going or cut it off which i would have told them. Reporter the lawsuit filed by dawkins parents also alleges those pha officers improperly pursued dawkins against pha pursuit guidelines and without probable cause and justificati justification. The suit also claims the officers failed to notify their dispatcher or superior that is they were engaging in a vehicle pursuit. Philadelphia police refused to pursuit dawkins moments earlier after they, too, saw him speeding on nearby broad street. For it to go on year now, almost year, and still were grasping and trying to find answers, thats troubling. Reporter the lawsuit claims the pha officers saw the crash and observed dawkins car burst into flames with dawkins still inside. It also alleges the officers fled the scene of the accident without notifying any emergency or rescue service or police entity. It claims the two officers also left without rendering any assistance to dawkins. So far we dont know if they left the scene the. It looks like they broke off their pursuit before the gentleman got in the crash and turned off. They should have contacted the medics at least. Those who should be held accountable should be. Reporter he hopes the lawsuit will at least get him some of the answers he so desperately wants. God help me and all who else can help me to find the truth. Reporter the Philadelphia Housing Authority police refused to comment citing the ongoing litigation. A lawyer for the 2pha Police Officers did not return our phone call our an email questing comment.
