Just days into the new School Year Students are sent home early because of the scorching heat of parents from districts across the region had to rearrange their schedules to pick up their children because it was simply too hot to go to class. We have Team Coverage tonight as the dangerous september heat wave continues. Brad sattin live outside of Citizens Bank park where fans braced the heat to see Bruce Springsteen but first lets check in with meteorologist Scott Williams to find out how much longer this heat will last. It feels like 86 right now in berks county, reading so for tomorrow, more dangerous heat. The heat advisory has been extended through tomorrow night. Feels like temperatures by the afternoon will approach the triple digits. In fact take look at the clock. By tomorrow afternoon, the i95 corridor, 2 00 oclock, feeling like 101 in philadelphia. Wilmington and trenton. So that will be the danger for tomorrow. Coming up a hot start to the weekend. Some storm chances. Well, we now know the identity of the woman police say opened fire on police in kensington last night. 33yearold erika avenue says facing a list of charges to night. Investigators say she drove the wrong way down the 600 block of east clearfield last night. She then drove on to the sidewalk, that is where an officer was standing. That officer opened fire on her hitting her in the hasnt. She was later arrested along the 2900 block of richmond street in Port Richmond where she crashed. Shes facing dui and assaulter charges tonight. Tonight in cobbs creek, a barricade situation has ended with a suspect in custody but there are still a whole lost unanswered questions. We know tonight the two people were shot but its still unclear why and by whom. Fox 29s Joanne Pileggi joining us live from Philadelphia Police headquarters with the very latest. Joanne . We are live at Police Headquarters where authorities are still trying to find out what initially led to that shooting and eventual hostage situation in cobbs creek late this afternoon. They called for reinforcements and additional swat Team Officers put on their gear late today as this scene was unfol unfolding in cobbs creek. We got called for the disturbance and the person screaming we didnt get a chance tousers taken what this was about. Gunfire erupted almost immedia immediately. The police they wisely took cover outside. Reporter this all happening in the 200 block of south millick street near 60th and walnut. All i seen was cops running up and down the street. I stayed in the house. When they arrived on location a female in her 20s opened the door. They went to dialogue with that female and suddenly a male in the back drop further back in the house started discharging a weapon at them. Reporter the woman ran outside. She had been shot in the arm. At that point, police learned there were others inside with the gunman. There were four other people and actually six people in the house. Four children and two adults. There was a hostage situation that was ongoing. Reporter Police Closed off the area. Keeping residents inside their homes. I was just concerned for my 90yearold mother who lives here. And the rest of my neighbors. Reporter fortunately cops made contact with an adult inside the home who helped them coax the gunman to drop his weapon. We knew he still was armed. After lengthy negotiations and talks with the mother she was able to tell us that that male was in a position where we could safely enter. Swat entered that location was able to take him into custody. Reporter the gunman a, male in his 20s, was shot in the leg. He is believed to be the brother of the female who was shot in the arm. Police say the shooting on fifth and erie started around 1 00 oclock this morning. Thats in hunting park. The victims 17yearold and 18yearold an 40yearold man all transported by medics to Temple University hospital. The conditions are not yet being released. Authorities are on scene. They told fox 29 they believe the shooter targeted at least one of those victims. They are reviewing 94 by cameras in hopes of finding that gunman. A big night in sports world.
