See all the police still here at the mall tonight as they continue to search for seven week old as zero simmons much hes been missing now for almost five hours after he was abducted from the Food Court Area by a woman who be friended his moth mother. Police say it was just after 5 30 when this woman was caught on surveillance cameras leaving the king of prussia mall with seven week old as zero simmons. Weve done a pretty extensive search, stopping all buses and vehicles leaving the mall. We searched as extensively as we can at the mall. We have not found the child. We are actively working on leads. Police released this video of the woman. They immediately began to search mall. Gigantic parking lot and shopp shoppers looking for the baby boy and dark skinned africanamerican woman. Vehicles leaving the mall were also searched by police on 202. Its terrible. Reporter investigators say the woman be friended the babys family at the mall and was sitting at the food court with them when the babys mother went to attend to other children. The woman was holding the child while dealing witness other children on the phone, our suspect walks off with the baby. Reporter police say the woman and the baby exited the mall near the bone fish grill. She was caught on the surveillance cameras carrying the baby who is wearing a bright orange shirt and blue jeans. Our suspect is a black female dark skinned, black braids with purple highlights, shes scene wearing dark pants with some kind of either white jacket or white covering as shes going out of the mall. Reporter shoppers leaving the mall and others being stopped and searched by police in their cars were stunned to hear about the abducted child. Were absolutely devastated. Just cant eve even believe that while we were here Something Like this would happen. Very frightening much this is usual al very safe area and the mall is always safe and well maintained. So its scary that Something Like that would happen here. Reporter now, police have set up a command post here at the mall at the fbi and Montgomery County detectives. Theyve gotten help tonight from joining Police Departments as they search the area. They literally sevenned hundreds of cars. Spoke to hundreds of people and all of the buses coming and going from the mall at this hour there has been no update. We are expectin expecting updatm chief tom nolan in the next half hour or so. Mint less than month away from retirement. In the meantime on saturday, that was the day of the accident were told he was preparing to do what he loved which was take a ride to welcome home for another veteran. A lot of sadness. Tom was well loved by everybody. He was a great fantastic guy. Reporter warrior watch members and motorcycle clubs standing in Formation Holding flags. In memory of one of their own, 59yearold tom obrien. The warriors watch rider died in a crash over the weekend. I got him signed up with the warriors watch riders and cone get enough of it. Reporter outside the viewing packed with familiar and friends paying their inspects sid reminisced about meeting obrien a few years ago. Theyre both navy veterans. They told me he had a beard. I walked in his beard was down to the middle of his chest. I laughed. I went over to him. We hit it off good. Reporter he remembers obriens love for welcoming home veterans and riding for Fallen Police officers and firefighters. Just last year, they both did memorial ride for murdered Philadelphia Police Sergeant Robert wilson. And most recently a candlelight vigil for fallen new jersey state trooper sean cullen. He went up there with us. And stood the whole time with us with the candles and stuff and after that he would go to work and do another eight hours of work. Thats the kind of guy he was. Reporter fellow riders say obrien was preparing to welcome home a veteran saturday when he was in an accident with a car on south black horse pike in haddon heights. He died the next day on easter at the hospital. His family placed memorial at the site. Hell never be forgotten. He was loved by many people, you know. Many people. Reporter he haded divine is the ride captain for the mission honoring obrien he says theres only one way to keep his memory alive. We ride. Just like he would do. We would ride. Shot on duty another Law Enforcement Virginia State trooper died following a shooting at a greyhound station in richmond. Four people the trooper two civilians and a suspect all ended up shot at the bus station just before flee this afternoon. State police were conducting a Training Exercise at the bus station when they say a man approached one of the troopers, pulled out a gun and shot him in the chest. Two troopers immediately returned fire and that man later died at the hospital. Both civilians are expected to be fine. The bullets flying jolted everyone. We ran across the parking lot. These runs were so scary. I didnt even want to get up from where i wasnd hiding and swatting. Authorities say they have recovered a gun from the scene. But they have yet to release a motive. Investigators in Delaware County have a murder mystery on their hands. Police have now identified the woman found dead in the bathtub of her apartment. The apartment itself is in total disarray. Authorities say a friend and coworker found 36yearold Marquis Ya Benson dead inside her new orleans park apartment yesterday. There are signs of a struggle inside the apartment. Obviously as the director of Public Safety for the institution i want to know about anything that could jeopardize student safety. His Attorney Says hell plead not guilty to the charges against him. Through the work of our detectives Montgomery County detectives and the fbi, we were able to go to a number of locations tonight in both upper merion township, malvern and eventually into tredyffrin township Chester County where we did locate the woman who was seen on video leaving with the baby and the baby. As i said the baby is safe and sound. But is getting checked. At this point were not ready to release the names of the woman. We will in a later press relea release. Did chef any connect to the mother and or the child. At this pint we see no connection. We do not have a motive at this point. Does she live in the king of prussia area. She does have ties to the king of prussia, upper merion township area. Are you able to talk about how you were able to track her down . Using Surveillance Video to id her. The videos we got out through your help we got lot of tips on a suspect pretty early on. We started using those tips to go to several different locations as i said. We were moving from point to point. The woman who was found with the child had been taking the child around tonight. Other people had seen her with the child and we were able to track her from that point. The relationship between the mom and this woman the mom of the child, we have no reason to believe theres any relationship between the mom and the woman who took this baby. She was showing the baby off to friends. To her family. Her family. Princeton drive Anderson Road is that where she lives. That was one location where we went to in upper merion township. Where exactly was the baby found . Found in tredyffrin township. Were not prepared to release the location just yet. We still have work to do down there. Okay . Any other questions . All right. They didnt want to leave until this child was found safe and we are all happy to report. I think it comes from very good Excellent Police work that this child was found safe. I want to commend all of my officers and all of the other officers that assisted us in this case. One woman is in custody. Correct. Where is she . Charges are still pending at this point. How rare is this . You dont hear about extremely rare. Extremely rare to have case like this. The way this incident took pla place. But thankfully we had all the Resources Available to bring this child home safely. Can you say did the video lead to the tips that led to you her . The video did lead to us na name. Roller coaster temperatures. 70s tomorrow bite the second half of the weekend were looking at temperatures dropping highs only in the 40s on sunday. So thats really the bottom line a few scattered showers even some thunderstorms tomorrow and then a flurry chance or two in that seven day forecast. The High Temperature today a warm 73 degrees. Well above the average for this time of year which is in the upper 50s. Right now on ultimate doppler, a couple of spotty showers and some sprinkles. No heavy rainfall just yet. The main system is still well to the west of us producing some Severe Weather in sections of alabama, along with mississippi. Not anticipating a real Severe Weather threat for us but we could have that rumble of thunder. Winds out ahead of that system are still out of the south. So temperatures tonight in the 60s for lows and High Temperatures again tomorrow in the 70s. We have 66 degrees right now in philadelphia. Look north and west. Upper 60s in reading. 68 degrees in allentown. Low 60s a little cooler right now down the shore. So as we go hour by how you can watch the clock and watch the temperatures. By 4 00 in the afternoon 75 degrees in trenton. 76 in wilmington. Low 70s north and west. So another warm day despite the clouds and the shower chance. Its not going to be a wash out tomorrow dont cancel any plans. Just have an umbrella handy. By tomorrow morning, 6am, were looking at mild conditions a couple of spotty showers out there. So its not really look like a wash out for that friday morning rush. By 10 00 a. M. Were looking at more coverage as far as some of the showers across the area. Then by 1 00 in the afternoon look at the 70s on the map. Like al couple of peeks of sunshine and then later on in the afternoon, around the four, 5 00 oclock hour, watching another round of some showers and possible until rumble of thunder. But watch those temperatures drop during the day on your saturday. By saturday morning, 40s north and west. High temperatures likely touching upper 50s on saturday. Then saturday night into sunday were watching for a couple of snow showers in the pocono mountains, the Lehigh Valley as those temperatures continue to fall. Look at what happens by sunday morning. Low temperatures in the 30s across much of the area. So definitely a frost concern once you move outside of the city north and west. So as we talk about that rainfall, not a whole lot amounting to much across the area. Likely up to a quarter of an inch of rain. Temperatures tonight, pretty mild upper 50s low 60s across the area. 76 degrees for the High Temperature tomorrow. Its going stay breezy winds gusting up to 30 miles per hour. That seven day forecast is going to show the roller coaster ride as far as temperatures. Were looking at 76 degrees tomorrow. 60 on saturday. And then look at the 40s for sunday. 47 degrees for the High Temperature. A little rebound on monday and then tuesday highs only in the upper 40s. Lets get right out to Dave Schratwieser whose live outside the mall tonight. Dave . Reporter iain you saw it live a few moments ago. Chief tom nolan from upper merion announcing the good news. Almost five hours after seven week old asir simmons was abducted from here at the king of prussia mall he has been found safe in tredyffrin township. He was actually with the woman we showed you oh and video tape who abducted him at a home the there. She was showing off the baby to her family members. Now, chief nolan explained to us that they got a tip after the Surveillance Video and pictures were released by the media this evening. They got a tip leading them to the home. They got several other tips. They went there. They found the baby unharmed and the woman who abducted the baby at that point. The child at this hour is being checked out by police and doctors, and will be reunited with his mother. Heres what chief nolan had to to say is the News Conference a couple of minutes ago. Im happy to report that Ahsir Simmons has been located much hes safe and sound. Appears to be no injuries. We are checking him right now to make sure and well be in the process of reuniting him with his family. Through the work of our detectives, Montgomery County detectives and the fbi, we were able to go to a number of locations tonight in both per merion township, malvern and eventually into tredyffrin township, Chester County where we did locate the woman who was seen on video leaving with the baby and the baby. As i said the baby is safe and sound. But is getting checked. Reporter now that woman is in custody. Police tell us. They have not identified her at this point. They do say she does have relatives supposedly in the king of prussia area. And was here at the mall. The story is according to the family of the baby, they were be friended by the woman in the mall walk aig round the mall with them today when the family went to the Food Court Area and sat down to have something to eat the woman joined them. She conversed with the mother. She asked the mother if she can hold the baby. The mother said yes. At some point the mother got a phone call from one her other children. She was attend to go that phone call. When the woman walked off with her seven week old baby boy asir simmons. Intense search was undertaken by police. Surveillance video of the woman leaving the mall with the child was released to the media. Very quickly tonight. They searched hundreds of cars leaving the mall here. Buses, they were talking to people in and out of the mall. Coming and going seeing if they had seen anything, a command post was set up. The fbi Montgomery County detectives and surrounding Police Departments joined in the search and about 10 30 you heard chief tom nolan come out here thats almost five hours after the abduction. The chief came out and delivered the good news that baby Ahsir Simmons is okay tonight. Hes being check out and he will be reunited with his mother and his family. The suspect we believe will be taken to Upper Merion Police and charged there with kidnapping and abduction from what the chief is telling us has not yet identified the suspect. Back to you guys.
