The first came on sixth and race streets while walking home from the store last thursday. Punched him in the face. Asked him for money. He said he didnt have have none. Punched him again and took off. Reporter win Palmyra Police arrested 19yearold Brandon Hughes for attempted robbery and simple assault. But less than 24 hours later that boy is attacked again. This time inside a classroom at palmyra high school. The boy says it was in retaliation for turning his attacker in to police the day before. Hes got to have surgery now. Misunderstood eating disorder affecting millions of americans has forced people to pay out of pocket for treatment. But no longer. The American Psychiatric association has now recognized binge eating as a true medical condition. Our joyce evans introduces us to a local woman who is fighting to get her life back. Hi, im monica seller monica is coming coming forward to spread awareness. My eating was uncontrollable. Shes active and fit surprising a lot of people. It is a shock. Surprised. Very shameful. People do try to hide it and it can happen to people of all different waits. Like simon a Health Care Worker and one of millions who suffers in the shadows from bed. Its the volume of food i eat eat. It could be anything at any time. Amounting to serve servings of food in a short period of time. Usually win about a twohour period of time. Gorging but no purging like with bulemia. Binge eating disorder is more of a matter of opportunity. And you cant stop until all of the food in front of you is gone. Everything was out of control control. Forever changing work schedule. We would be eating cheesesteak at midnight or 2 00 oclock in the morning. Her guilt. Then you feel tired sad depressed. Why did i just do that to myself myself . I cant believe i did it again and then you try to be better the next day and its still the same. But theres more shame. I just dont want to be seen theres a lot of social things that i havent gone to because of my weight and i dont want anybody to see him. Her continue weight gain bringing health fear. I hit over 200pound. Im 100 pounds heavier than i was in high school. That was the breaking point and i didnt know where else to go. But everybody is different. Yes doctor Kelly Allison at the penn center for weight and eating disorders says simon is not the only binge eater for whom diets and maybe even exercise wont really help. It also often does have to do with imbalances and, you know, chemistry in the brain and we know we can treat that both with medicationmedications or with behavioral treatments. Getting better though. Simon is trying portion control first but its hard. Its hard when you you find out youre supposed to eat small amount of chicken and given this big amount in restaurant. And then you want to lick the plate after. Dr. Allisons program for simon includes a list of dos and donts and explain why you slip. I eat all the time. It doesnt matter for me. Its just there and i eat it. So she has select meals to keep her focused on portion control. Which when you see this it looks like a little bit but slowly im getting used to smaller pouring. Losing weight hasnt come quickly enough for simon but she stopped gaining. The goal is about 70 pounds. And hopefully well have success success. Reporter good luck simon. Dr. Allison says there are some things you can try on your own like dont skip meals. Youll binge worse later. Keep a log of what you eat and when so you can stay on track and note what may trigger your binge episode. Also, theres big news.
