Steve keeley taking a look at the suspects long criminal past, but Lauren Johnson at the family home in north philadelphia, her mom, lauren, was on good day philadelphia yesterday, trying to talk, you know, and reach out to the person who may have taken her, asking her to return them safe and sound. Absolutely, and that person, i guess, you know, complied somewhat to her request, but mom got her wishes either way. Her daughter back home safe and sound. In fact, just few moments ago, carleshas cousins, stepped outside in the back of this north philly home to speak to us. She says her cousin is still shaken up, of course, when we asked her if carlesha new the man, police now have in custody, for her violent abduction, she said theyre not sure. While the investigation plays out, family members are elated to have her back home. A relief, a relief, nobody in my family slept those last couple of days, everybodys been up, nonstop, trying to get her back home. It is to has been great to know that she is safe, she good. We all spoke to her. And, you know, she want to tell everybody, the media, the public, our fateful, instagram fans, that she love you all and she want to thank you all so much for her support right now. Thats all she kept saying, was thank you, thank you, thank you. Because without you all, the detective, those that called the cops, you know, get someone on the case, the fbi, detectives, northwest detectives, those coming in, none of this would be possiblement and god made it all happen t came together for our family. Everybody was praying for us. And we all know that the first 24 hours is the most crucial hours. And you see now this is two days later and she is back home and she is safe, and she is happy. We all happy. It is a relief to our family. Thats been quite did not confirm whether she is here at her mother areas house or not. She did ask for privacy. We know police say they dropped her off at this home. We can tell you that the family is excited. They say they havent slept for the last 07 hours, not sleeping now, inside, and were hearing that the parent of carlesha might talk at some point this morning, of course if we get sound from them, we will bring that to you as soon as we get it. His First Official picture after all of the surveillance pictures since his arrest, First Court Appearance coming at 1 00 this afternoon, down in baltimore county, maryland, not yet for any charges, even in carleshas case, but for the fugitive warrant from an even more horrific, previous kidnapping, and rape case, just four weeks before of a 16 year old virginia girl, october 1st, who escaped from barnes, while burning her clothes, and digging a grave for her. He told her. And not only did he tell her he was going to bury her in the hole he was digging, he showed her pictures of a loft other girls he told her he had done the same thing to, that he did to her, which is why virginias Charles City CountyPolice Department told me overnight on the phone, that he thinks and fears are even more victims and carleshas kidnapping is, quote, probably just the latest in a pattern of kidnappings and attacks on young women by barnes. And crawly knows barnes from high school, in strange coincidence, he said barnes was two years ahead of him in high school. He played basketball with him. Said in high school he was just a normal quiet reserved kind of guy, obviously, turned into a monster. Now crawly told me that a dna match that his office got last week also got them enough search evidence for a search home last wednesday, and barnes he figures fled to philadelphia, where he was born, and fled here, in the same car that we saw on the surveillance. And here is the car again, seen again for the First Time Since the surveillance last night, down in jessup maryland. Notice even in the dark from the air you will see that that back window that carlesha kick out covered in plastic. Two hours south of philadelphia. Certainly a lot of attention, hard for to you see because of all of the rain and everything, but literally it is walltowall media trucks here in this strip mall parking lot. This is where that vehicle was found that had carlesha freelandgaither, fortunately she was safe, Delvin Barnes in the vehicle with her. We know that atf agents were able to track the car to this parking lot. Then once they saw him climbing from the back seat to the front seat, that is when they moved in, they got their cars block around. He seemed kind of surprised that they found him. And, fortunately, they did, because what we know is this man is a violent preditor, so hes going to be in court at 1 00 oclock today, in baltimore, and but thats not for the philadelphia abduction case, thats where the previous charge, so fugitive warrant extradition hearing to see if hes going to go back to charles city virginia to face charges in that horrific october 1st case that you guys have been talking about earlier. Really, just awful details there. And has a lot of people thinking here. So what we know is that in the october 1st case, just to review it little bit, he had abducted the 16 year old girl, taken her for two days, talking about rape, he had burned her with acid, and then he, according to sources, was threatening to bury her in a grave when she escaped. And also, told her, that she had that he had done this before and perhaps showed her pictures of other women. So heres the interesting thing is that were talking about charles city virginia, it is just outside of richmond, so to the east of rip monday, not far from the charlottesville area and the route 29 area. You know there has been so much attention to the case of jessie matthew, morgan hair harrington, people trying to connect the dots, more than handful of young women missing from the route 29 area. And so, charles city sheriffs are also saying that perhaps Delvin Barnes may be connected to other cases. They do believe there are other victims out there. So i think it will be interesting to see what other cases, in fact, theyre trying to connect him to. We should learn little more today, again, after that hearing at 1 00 oclock, if he waves extradition, then virginia authorities will be taking him back to charles city to face those charges there, and then federal authorities will then follow up with other charges in your philadelphia casement back to you. Unbelievable. With the rap sheet that long, so many people are scratching their heads, all the way from maryland up into pennsylvania, about how this guy was out on the streets, melanie. To that end, if, in fact, there are potentially more victims out there, in the dc area, and other parts, are you guys witting this tweeting this guys picture out there so it might garner more interest or more revelations about this guy in this case . Well, lets give you little bit of this backgrounds information on this guy. Suspect police say dragged carlesha right off the streets. He has history of similar crimes. If i red all the charges that hes ever faced, concealed weapons charges, brandishing weapons, although interesting that he wasnt found with any weapons, in this case, either in the car or on him, but a lot of indecent assaults, minors, we would be on past the Wendy Williams show if i just talked about this guys past. This is 36 pages, and it does not include the two most horrific cases, that hes facing probably about 50 charges for, at least. So, here, at headquarters, theyre very happy to get this guy off the street, and, likely, as the commissioner, off the street for good this time, we now know carleshas kidnapper acted alone, because among the evidence they found, plastic zip ties. So, thats what police use as handicuffs whenever they round up and arrest large group of protesters. That explains how he was restrained, how he kept her alone in that car and why she likely could only kick out the windows but couldnt escape, because he probably had her hands tied with these plastic zip ties behind her back inning shot, latest mugshot, because probably has enough of these to fill a year book. Thirtyseven year old Delvin Barnes investigators say, was becoming very experienced at overpowering, kidnapping, attacking young women, by himself, and they figure he came to philly just last week, to flee virginia authorities, who had just gotten warrant for arrest for even worse attacks, just four weeks ago on a 16 year old girl, who was raped and kidnapped and kept over two days, before she somehow escaped, while barnes was burning her clothes, and digging a hole in the grounds, that he told her he was going to bury her when he was done. During the whole ordeal, he was showing her pictures of other girls he told her he had done the same thing to do that he was doing to her. So, authorities fear down in virginia in may be even more victims who they hope if still alive somehow and also escaped will now come forward after seeing these pictures on tv and recognize them and not fearing him, any more. To block him, to prevent him from leaving the parking area, then announce their presence to him, gave him verbal chants, took him into custody without incident. She is in good shape. Has some injuries. But was taken to the hospital. Was talking to the agents. He is a thug, so people like this dont necessarily, nothing that makes sense, dont even try to find it. Hes a vicious preditor. Hes off the street. And hopefully, hell be in jail for the rest of his life. Barnes and carlesha found in the ex and same car in seen in on the chilling surveillance viewed around the world. If you look at our helicopter pictures, even though it is dark, you can likely make out back window covered in plastic. That will is one of the windows that carlesha kicked out. And that explains how they got down there, and they were still in the very same car, and he had thrown some litter out of the car, that potato chip bag seen on the surveillance that the f. B. I. Put out yesterday, and a receipt, thats what led them to the acme market on roosevelt boulevard. But, among the garbage, shattered glass in the bag, and a plastic zip tie. And a lady in maryland, between philadelphia and jessup where they were found saw the news, saw the garbage on her lawn and she thought hey this might be related to the kidnapping. She called authority. One of the many people, one of the many tips, that help ends this thing. Chris, kerry . And just the fact that people were able to put all of this together. People have been watching this story, glued to their tvs, since the weekend when abducted. It all had such a nice ending today. As at a hearing yesterday School District officials questioned the leaders of palmer about their finances and their enrollment practices, district officials considering whether to revoke the schools charter, Palmer CharterHigh School Closed last month, as we reported, because of over enrollment.
