Fox 29s Jennifer Joyce is there now with a look at how it looks. Hi jen. Reporter hi, chris jen you can fortunately from where were standing you cant see too much. The water main break happened behind me, behind Shopping Center in the area of grant avenue and blue grass road. The Philadelphia Water Department says it was alerted about the broken pipe at about 7 00 last night and still nine hours later water rushing out. According to a spokesperson, with the Philadelphia Water Department, it is not actually a water main break but rather, a fire Service Connection. So it should have no impact on customers. The Water Department says that this is their biggest season for breaks, with the colds weather and freezing pipes there were actually eight breaks yesterday alone. The biggest concern for the grant avenue incident at this point is getting the valve shut off as soon as possible, the Water Department says theyve had some difficulty tackling this break. Challenge finding the proper valves to this location, but out here working as quickly as we can to get this shutdown. And, in the process of trying to get the water turned off, one Water Department worker got hurt. He was taken away in a ambulance. We dont know the extent of his injuries or what exactly happened to him. Water Department Left the scene last night around midnight.
