Coming up. Im kidding that doesnt sound good. It is 4 00 oclock, good day, tuesday, november 25th, 2014. We certainly have have a a lot to get to. We will be covering ferguson, miss sure and what is going on there in depth throughout fox 29 morning news and good day philadelphia a, foremost right now a a at least in the immediate future people are worried about the travel weather tomorrow. Absolutely, yeah. Sue . You are scarring us. Dont be scared, i was just kidding, it is worsening. If we could keep weather we had yesterday for everybody to travel every where we needed to go that would be fine and great but you that will not happen. Thing is you are tune in here, you will stay with us and we will get you ready for it and prepare you the best we can. Lets talk about today. Weve got 61 degrees in philadelphia. Fiftynine in wilmington. Sixtythree in wildwood. These are temperatures around the same as they were yesterday, the thing is they will end up being the the highest temperatures of the day, we will probably already see the highest temperatures of the day because some cooler air is moving in. You could see win direction in longer southerly for many places but starting to come from the west. We have 10 miles an hour winds in lancaster. 8 miles an hour in philadelphia. 10 miles an hour in dover. We are in the process of change to go colder air. Wind gusts up to 26 miles an hour, not as high as yesterday but it is still breezy out there, as we transition. Cold front has now moved off shore, chillier air is moving in. Storm system that will trouble us on wednesday has not really formed yet but it will hook on to that front and become the same we dread the thing the coastal storm. Forwarn is forarmed and we will get you ready for that next time as far as precipitation amount are concerned. Record warmth yesterday with that 72 degrees, previous record had been 71. Temperatures in the 50s mix of sun and clouds, it will be cooler throughout the the day, with breezes out of the west, at five to 10 miles an hour. That is a look at your forecast for tuesday, we have the rest of your Holiday Outlook coming up in a few minutes, bob kelly is here right now, at least were nice and dry this morning. What a difference a day makes. Good morning. 40 00 on this tuesday morning. Hello pennsauken live look at route 37 rolling from pennsauken through palmyra, heading towards that tacony palmyra bridge nice and quiet, roads are dry as sue mentioned so we are off to a good start. As we go to the maps schuylkill westbound watch for disable tractor trailer near Henderson Road making your way towards that king of prussia interchange. In problems or delays at all, end to end on the schuylkill, inbound, about 14 minutes south on i95, woodhaven to downtown only about a 13 men trip and 422 between oaks and 202 an easy seven minute trip. Now south jersey again we are off to a good start n problems on the freeway, turnpike looking good, a mass transit, buses, trains, trolleys all running with no reported delays, chris and kerry back over to you good hope not at 4 03. A a grand jury decided no to the indict Ferguson Police officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of the 18 yearold Michael Brown that decision has spark violent protest in ferguson and across the country. Fox 29s Jennifer Joyce live with more on what is going on, kerry. Reporter police say things were much worse than anything they saw in august, prior to the grand injury a nuns; there were pro tests afterwards and simply chaos. They determined in probable cause exist to file any charge against officer wilson and returned a no true bill on each of the five indictments. Reporter st. Louis county police chief after that announcement things spun out of control, at least 12 buildings were burning and a used car lot set on fire, two police cars were on fire, chief announced he personally heard 150 shots fired and faa had to divert nearly a dozen flights that were headed to st. Louis because shots were fired into the sky. Fortunately police and others endured only minor injuries. There was in loss of life but those little consolation police say the reaction was not a peaceful protest at all but violence that will quote tear the fabric of the community apart. It is unfortunate to see because we had planned, and we talk about the fact that we were really hoping for peaceful protests and i mean that. We talk about it as early as this evening saying what it would be like tonight. It might not be too bad, is exactly what captain johnson said. I shared that optimism. But frankly as soon as mr. Mccollough announced the verdict officers started to take roxanne batteries. Taking a look at aerial images of buildings on fire these are businesses in ferguson. People will wake up to find their hard work burned to the ground. Again, about a dozen buildings on fire. Police say they have seized guns, they had a 45 caliber sem any their possession at the press conference and there were about 29 a arrests. We will continue to monitor that. We also know schools in ferguson are closed to day, moving forward, the chief says they are devising a plan to maintain control throughout the day, in st. Louis county, kerry and chris. Of course, we will keep a very close eye on what is going on. Michael browns parents released a a statement expressing disappointment in the grand jurys decision. At this point they are asking the community to help make changes within Law Enforcement agencies. Their Statement Reads in part we are profoundly disappointed that the killer of our child will not face consequences of his actions. And asked the community to express their frustration in constructive way. Join with us in our campaign to ensure that every Police Officer working the streets in this country, wears a body camera. Back here at home the decision in ferguson has angered a lot of people, in the delaware valley. Before the overnight protests, philadelphias mayor Michael Nutter got emotional about how the grand jury went about making this decision and how they announced it. The handling of this entire incident, in my opinion from the shooting, to leaving Michael Browns body in the street for four and a half hours, through last friday when it was announced that the grand jury may make a decision somewhere in the course of the next few days leaving people in ferguson and quite frankly probably most across the United States of america in a certain state of alert and agitation and readiness, to then decide to announce an incredible decision like this at 9 00 oclock at night. They have botched this entire tragedy so badly from start to finish. Not minuting any word. In the streets of philadelphia, police are calling the protest thankfully, largely respectful, despite a couple of arrests. Fox 29s steve keeley live outside city hall with a look at the the response, if any, steve, what is going on. Reporter philadelphia is 900 miles from ferguson but million miles away in terms of the two different protests. Here this city should be very proud of its people and police. Protest just ended about an hour ago as far as we know with just one arrest and why they were tearing ferguson apart in pieces, it was just completely peaceful here in philadelphia. The only attempt after about four hours of marching all around the city down to south street, around city hall, and through Chestnut Street is an attempt to shut down i95. That is where the one arrest happened when somebody went up the ramp and satan the shoulder but police did a great blockade with their bike patrol and kept people going up the callowhill ramp around Second Street and it probably saved some lives out there because drivers doing 65 miles an hour dont always see people standing in the road as we saw yesterday on i95 down in Delaware County. Here is inspector joe sullivan whom he and his men handled this perfectly. This is a white and black history. We will be right here. Where are we on the street. Where are we marching in we have to do our job. No justice, no peace. We do feel the compassion, we do agree with the anger, we do understand how people feel right now. No, i dont agree with destroying or vandalizing any property. This was a very intense a very large crowd of protesters and very energetic crowd. They walk several miles in various parts of the center city, starting at city hall and we ended up down at columbus boulevard but again very efficient over the fact that it was peaceful, law you abiding crowd. We understand people feel very emotionally invested in this issue and we respect that and philadelphia and they are going to get to do it all over again today and if there was one advantage of this decision coming out so late all of the people work and commute in the Center City Area were already out of here not going to be the case tonight when marchers are going to organ at city hall at 3 00 oclock in the afternoon and then start marching up north broad street is the the plan but as we saw last night, a planned one direction march often goes in several directions. So police will let them march where ever they want as long as they keep it peaceful like they did last night. So philadelphia can be proud of how their people and their police both worked together on this to show what they thought of the tea is but show how this city knows how to treat it. That is right, thanks, steve. 4 11 is the time. Dream for philadelphia democrats, citys Hospitality Industry is one step closer to reality. The city is on a short list for 2016 Democratic National convention. Congressman would be brady made that announcement yesterday that we are among the final three cities. A committee of influential city democrats has been working the past 15 months to bring the convention here, hosting that convention could be another historic moment for philadelphia. A decision on the location will be made in january. The other contenders are Columbus Ohio and brooklyn, new york. Some new details coming in after that fatal crash on i95 that we first brought you yesterday morning on the fox 29 morning news. Police revealing what happens to snarl yesterdays morning commute. President obama has a lot on his plate between ferguson and defense secretary chuck hagel has announced he we will be looking live at the scene in ferguson, in missouri, that is this right now Fire Fighters working to put out fires, and many of which we hear were spark by protesters, and a couple police cars on fire as well. This is after the grand jury decided last night at 9 00 oclock our time in the shooting death of 18 year old Michael Brown. This is a story that we will continue to follow and develop throughout the morning. Sky fox, from our sister station there in missouri will will stay over this scene as well, and indeed across the country. We will look in and check in and talk about the local impact of this decision as well all morning long. 4 15. As you look at the screen there in the lower left, 62 degrees. Isnt that something. Yeah. Weve got to our record by the way in case you hadnt heard yesterday when it was 72 degrees. Now we have mild temperatures hanging around if only they were going to last. 61 degrees as chris said, 58 in pottstown and allentown as we look down, all right, so as we look to see what is going on with the other temperatures, we do have temperatures, di, we have an issue. I dont know what it is. Sixtytwo in dover. Sixtythree in wildwood. So is there your surface map. We had a quiet little cold front coming through overnight and chillier air will move in. The future cast is showing what will happen with this storm. Here we will jump ahead to tomorrow around this time and were already seeing some rain spread in the area. There is the bulls eye of the coastal storm dumping rain in north carolina. It will stay rain for a while in the metro area and start off with snow in the mountains. We will jump ahead to 1 00 in the afternoon and there is center of the storm just off shore. It will take a further westward track then we thought, so we will get more precipitation then we thought. It looks like all rain at the shore, southern delaware, wintry mix right around 4 00 in the afternoon when a lot of folks wanting to somewhere for thanksgiving and then snow and only snow up in the Lehigh Valley and the poconos. So here is at 8 00 oclock we have a mess, wintry wet mix throughout the metro area by 1 00 in the morning it is gone and thanksgiving we are dry. If you have any flexibility as far as leaving maybe today instead of tomorrow or leaving on thanksgiving day, that would probably be a good idea because there is your winter storm watch in effect for the entire day tomorrow for philadelphia and points north and west, we will have the seven day forecast, coming up in just a little bit. Can i leave now in can i just leave now . I will jump right in the car with you, bob kelly, can you sign my permission slip to get out of school early, today. Good morning, if you are going anywhere today we are looking good at south jersey route 47 at route 40, no problems or delays at all as we take a look and cruise around the area in the jam cams here. No problems at all as a tractor trailer rolls through the neighborhood. Getting ready for the the big parade on thursday. Youll see parade preps up and down the parkway and Art Museum Circle steps. They have put bleachers up. They have fencing all lined up and all of the lanes are opened on the parkway and around that issuing is will, tonight and tomorrow night, they are going to practice. Were talking practice for the parade, so this evenings rush hour leaving the city is going to be a hot mess. Do you have your outfit ready to practice, chris. Yes, ai. We have to practice for the parade. But leaving the city later tonight, they will shut down that issuing is will right in front of the art museum and that will make things tight staying late for work. Is there reason and excuse to get out of work early tonight. Northbound 202, they are working out here on the northbound side up here near the king of prussia interchange near schuylkill and disabled tractor trailer west on the cue kill right here near Henderson Road off to the road not bothering anybody. Rest of the majors schuylkill, 95, 422 all in good shape and so far so good the on the south jersey major roadways, chris and kerry back to you. 4 20. This morning we now know identity of the woman kill in the crash on i95 early yesterday morning. Police say six threeyear old dorris ann goldwire was killed after being hit by a delivery truck. Two others were hit as well. When the collision had happened they had been surveying damage after they hit a barrier. Crash closed a stretch of i95 in Delaware County for four hours. Nuclear talks with iran have been extended by another seven months. Negotiators have been trying to reach a deal that would have limited the countrys Nuclear Program in exchange for easing of international sanctions. Secretary of state john kerry says new ideas surfaced in the latest round of talks and both sides are closer to a deal. Amid criticism a top official with the Obama Administration is now stepping down. Defense secretary chuck hagel has resigned but senior u. S. Official tells fox news make no mistake secretary hagel was fire. Hagel had a rocky couple years in the Obama Administration and his stepping down as many foreign policies escalate worldwide including the rise of the Islamic State but bows hagel and president obama had nothing but good things to say as they announced this resignation yesterday. Thanks to chuck our military is on a firmer footing engaged in these missions and looking ahead to the future. I believe we have set not only this department, department of defense, but on a stronger course toward security, stability and procedures period. If i did not believe that i would not have dop this job. Hagel says he will remain as defense secretary until his successor takes over, no word just yet, all they there is speculation but no word on compactly who that may be. Pennsylvania University President has resigned weeks after a controversial speech went viral, with him making some comments about rape. And weve aired those comments here on fox 29, the former lincoln University President warned women against making false claims and how to avoid being exploited by men. Robert jennings had been september at a september all womens convocation. Critics say his speech appeared to blame victims for Sexual Assault, jennings eventually apologized following backlash. Meanwhile Lincoln University general counsel Valerie Harrison has been select as acting president after board of trustees accepted jennings resignation yesterday. All right. Can you guess this familiar voice . Oh, he is back as eagles face the cowboys. The trash he is talking this time. The eagles going in to thanksgiving at dallas with a eightthree record. Dallas cowboys also eight 36789 fans, it business playing the cowboys. The to the players, it is the next game on the schedule. To the outside world it becomes a little bit more and there is more excitement i guess but really it is still just another game. It is as big as a game we played this year because it is game we play this week and were tied for them with the division. I think that is what makes it a big game. All right. Cant win if you dont score. Tell that to the flyers. To long island shootout against steve mason who was terrific. One to nothing the final and shootout john tarvarez scores. Sixers are staying perfect. Boy, they are wonderful. No defense. Unbelievable. 115104. They covered but they are still zero and 14 for the season. Truly unbelievable how bad they are. That is sports in a minute. Im howard eskin. When you dont play defense are you tanking, that is the big question, and everybody else will look into and maybe the nba commissioner. Lets stay with football. Doesnt get any better than eagles verse cowboys on thanksgiving day fighting for first place. Check out this latest video from the birds narrated by in or than bradley cooper. This is more than a holiday, this is a holiday. This is a fall football feastfestival. May flower matinee between our birds and those radio heads from dallas. Hey, get your sweat pants ready because it is not thanksgiving without turkey and turning i. Make it a wish bone, fellows, this year there is more than ever to be thankful for and it is time to show the world how thankful we really are. That is awesome. I love all of the tack also. Throw the guy to the ground just like that. You may remember cooper narrated another rid ohio with the giants earlier this season yes. As i mentioned from pretty much from start to finish. Before the may him philadelphias mayor got emotional we are a nation built on a rule of law and we need to accept that the decision was the grand jurys to make. President obama speaking right have after the deis by a grand jury to not indict, the Police Officer who shot and killed an unarmed teen in missouri despite the president s efforts, protests still erupted across the country. How that is affecting the delaware valley. Meantime sue serio tracking our thanksgiving weather, hi sue. Thanksgiving isnt going to be the the problem, chris, it is the day before. We have a lot of changes coming and perhaps you have heard about them but you have not heard the latest, you will in your forecast coming up. Sue, thank you. Then frantic search for a missing mother, where is she . Where will she last be seen . Investigation continuing this morning. Good day, everyone it is tuesday november 25th, 2014, lets get right to our big local story, which has to be tomorrows travel weather. It is tomorrow the busiest travel day the of the year, sue. Actually i have been hearing in recent years it is actually sunday because everybody comes home on sunday but some People Choose today to make their getaway because they forget about working on wednesday, wednesday before thanksgiving if that was your choice it was a very wise choice. Today is day to get out of dodge if you can. Look at the temperatures. They are nice and mild out there. 61 degrees in philadelphia 63 in wildwood. We have 50s in lancaster. We have retained some of the mildness from yesterday and there is a little bit of rain off shore. Maybe a few sprinkles at delaware beaches but that is in the our issue for tomorrow. Today, it will remain dry for rest of the day, we had that record warmth, 72 degrees for the official high. Average high 53. Were going to be around there during the daytoday. So we will have temperatures in the 50s and they will be dropping today and it will be dry and then were down in the 30s tonight. So we are getting that chillier air in place, precipitation arrives tomorrow and we will tell what you happens after that coming up next time. Time is 4 32. Hi, bob kelly, good morning. 4 32. You are correct, that sunday is the most busiest travel day, you know, for thanksgiving, we have a couple days to trick until to grand moms house but on sunday everybody head back home. Live look, nice and quiet for shaders, route 73 in maple shade, new jersey no problems or delays there. Live look at the schuylkill expressway right here near south street we have sky line still lighting it up and parade preps underway, the the peco Power Building there, scrolling the signs this morning but parade preps are underway around the parkway, and that Art Museum Circle and traffic is getting through at least at the moment. This afternoon will be a different situation as they will be out there getting ready to practice for the parade. Live look at the the south jersey route 47 right here near route 40, roads drying out after yesterdays wet mess, double fives on the speedometer readings on schuylkill and 202. An accident popped up on game farm road just outside schwanksville. Otherwise mass transit and bridges look fine with no delays, chris and kerry, back over to you. 4 33 right now. There a appears to be in explanation as to why the Police Officer out of his car confronted potentially by Michael Brown who there is no dispute had in weapon. Why officer will on shot him at least ten times. Mayor Michael Nutter reacting to the grand jury decision in ferguson and right now were looking live at the scene there. Fire erupting throughout these protests, and police cars are on fire, people threatening with molotov cocktails, in the streets of philadelphia though a wildly different scene. Police calling the protest largely peaceful despite a few arrests. Fox 29s steve keeley live outside city hall with a look at the response and as kerry said, nice and peaceful at this point. Reporter quiet and clean right now. These protesters just dispersed an hour and a half ago. If anybody expected to see broken glass, trash on the streets around where they gathered and walked around, well, they will be surprised because this was very peaceful, and hundreds of protesters and hundreds of police added up to only two arrests here in philadelphia despite lots of outrage, zero dam age. This was a very intense, very large crowd of protesters and energetic crowd. They walk several miles through various parts of the center city, starting out at city hall and we ended up down columbus boulevard but again very efficient over the fact that it was peaceful law abiding crowd. We understand that people feel very emotionally invested in this issue and we respect that and the Philadelphia Police department respected that tonight. That is why we facilitated the protest and did nothing to inhibit it. The streets do belong to the people and we understand that and we wanted to make sure they were able to transverse through the streets of philadelphia in a safe manner and we have accomplished that. The intent to enter i95, and has to be understood from a Public Safety perspective we cannot allow that to happen. Reporter that is where chief inspector sullivan said only two arrest where is made. One guy got by a police line and ended up sitting in what he calls the running lane or shoulder and powe look were getting him off there for his own protection. He does not know if he will be charged, with the other guy at that scene as well. They may be eventually let go without charges to the d. A. s office. Protests here in philadelphia just ending around 3 00 in the morning but we will resume at 3 00 this afternoon. Next planned protest gathering here at city hall at 3 00 and plan right now protesters tell us is to march north up broad street toward temple university. Chris and kerry that should be pretty peaceful too and fairly easy for police to just guard that group as well because temple is already out for the thanksgiving break. No students really around there like there would be any other time of the year. Timing could be one of the biggest aspects of this, all right steve, thank you. 4 36. Police intensified their search for a miss would go man in northampton county. Three threeyear old Jessica Paget of white hall township was last seen friday leaving her job at a Day Care Center in northampton. She was supposed to return a short time later but never d her family is asking for your help in finding her. Maybe they could probably seen her, photos, anything to call police. Paget is recently married and has three kids. Police found her car in the parking lot of the Dollar General store, her purse and phone were inside that car. Investigators are looking for Surveillance Video to shed light on her disappearance. 4 37 the time and one of the women allegedly paid off by bill cosby is speaking out. Why she says that she was given that money and what temple students are doing in protest of cosbys alumni powers. A new Jersey School not just getting rid of midterms but final exams as well, why they say it is necessary this year. We are looking live as protests continue throughout the night in ferguson, missouri this is coming after the grand jurys decision not to indict, rather, officer Darren Wilson. Of course, he is the Police Officer who shot and killed Michael Brown, so many months ago. We will continue to follow this story as it develops, throughout the morning, protests indeed going on across the country here in philadelphia though largely peaceful which is nice to see. Students at one new Jersey High School dont have to worry about midterms and final exams this year n glenn ridge their High School Rated one of the top ten Public Schools in the entire state. Mayor Michael Nutter thanks local businesses in their efforts to keep people healthy, later this morning, the the mayor, with the health commissioner, james buehler, will recognize philadelphia businesses that stopped selling tobacco products. Owners will also share what and why they decided to implement their tobacco free policy. Lets look live now at ferguson for you. Protesters taking to the streets, sparking more fire to local businesses, there. Coming up in about 15 minutes Jennifer Joyce will break down that decision a announced late last night and protest that followed. All right. It is 4 45. Other big story locally especially this morning is the weather getting ready for that big travel day, sue. Right, so lets summarize the next couple of days, with our happy pumpkins and happy leaves falling and have been happy until they tried to travel tomorrow. Now, rain to snow is what were expecting, five sunny and chilly on thursday which is turkey day, so whatever we get on wednesday, will be out of here on thursday and friday will be pretty darn cold. So we will talk more about that coming up in the seven day forecast, winter storm watch issued by National Weather service for entire day tomorrow. For the philadelphia metro area heres the time line for you, rain begins in the morning tomorrow, and then it changes, over at some point after 12 00 noon. If you get out early you may only be traveling in rain, but anytime after 2 00 noon that we will start to see again in the metro area mixing in with wet snow. It will be heavy wet snow. Keep in mind the ground is going to be pretty warm thanks to the 72 degrees we had yesterday so slushy travel is probably what we can expect for a lot of this, depending on how much snow piles up. Lehigh valley and poconos is a different story. We check it to change over to wet snow in the morning tomorrow and continue throughout the rest of the day, until about 8 00 oclock at night. That is where we expect our accumulation about 6 inches or more during the day tomorrow, i know, mount pocono, allentown, reading, lancaster they are in the 6inch plus range. Less around doylestown, norristown, lets say northern part of the montgomery and bucks county, western part of the chester county, two to 4 inches in the i95 corridor and very little across the the river in new jersey especially at jersey shore and down in southern delaware. So that is what you are waiting for the expected snowfall map, that could change a bit between now and tomorrow, so stay tune we will keep an eye on the computer models and bob kelly, i might take a flight out of town today. Of course im in the sure whether we will like that but we were waiting for that. Good morning, everybody. Today could become the most traveled day of the year, given that everybody will start to change their plans trying to get out of of town maybe a day early while roads are still dry like here, on 476, no problems as we say good morning to saint David Villanova we will go next, live look, hello to the maple shade, new jersey we will pop this one backup again route 73 over there on route 130. We will go for a ride, get behind the van here. Southbound i95 there is that new traffic pattern for anyone heading out of northeast philadelphia south in towards the city approaching cottman avenue down towards bridge street, penndot did the shuffle and they moved travel lanes to the newly paved stretch of the roadway otherwise we are off to a nice and quiet start on the schuykill and route 202, we will zoom into one crash in schwanksville on game farm road and west on the schuylkill there is that disable tractor trailer a off to the shoulder at lend are son. Getting ready for parade preps around the Art Museum Circle. New for the way home tonight, they will be practicing after 6 00 oclock a that point they will close the the Art Museum Circle right in front of the steps and that will impact anyone leaving town on the kelly drive or on the parkway leaving the city later on tonight. Keep that in mine. Be out of the gate by 6 00 oclock tonight or you will get stuck practicing for the parade or thursday, chris and kerry back to you. Allen iverson will not practice. Just practice. How do crooks get a with mans credit card information and use it at a delaware home depot.
