Reporter exactly ten hours since they got the call from authorities she was found alive down in maryland. This guys first appearance in court since his arrest isnt even for anything involving the charges in carleshas kidnapping, but for the fugitive warrant for another kidnapping october 1st. That will case even more horrific has virginia authorities telling me that they think, quote, he may be responsible for a pattern of kidnappings of young women. In the previous case, after raping and kidnapping a 16 year old virginia girl over two days while he was burning her clothes and digging a hole, he told her, he was going to bury her in she somehow escaped and ran into nearby woods. Authorities believe he drove to philly last week to flee virginia authorities, who had search warrant for his house, a week ago yesterday. In the very same car he used in carleshas kidnapping, and the car you see he and carlesha were spot in the two hours drive south of philadelphia, in jessup maryland, and that case in philadelphia, just past 6 00 that news, coming here to fill, and detective jim sloan was then able to hug carleshas mom finally and fulfill his promise to get her daughter back alive. August at that point moved in, utilized one of their vehicles, to block him, to prevent him from leaving the parking area, then announce their presence to him, gave him verbal commands, and took him into custody without incident. She is in good shape, has some injuries, but is being was taken to the hospital. She talking to the agents. The bottom line is this, she has been returned home safely. This individual is off the street and no one else is in danger right now because they got a very dangerous preditor off the streets. Well, authorities are still hoping our information and our pictures getting out there continues to help this case. Because down in virginia, authorities i just got off the phone with, too, this morning, barnes face on tv will have any other victims who may have survived previous attacks by him recognize him on tv and call authorities now that they no longer fear can he do any harm to them. And that is likely why barnes fled there, drove to philly, where he was born, and in the same car that we saw in carleshas kidnapping surveillance tape, and thats the same car he and carlesha was found in two hours south of philadelphia, just off 95, down in jessup maryland, before 6 00 last night. You can see in the video even though it is dark and from the helicopter you can see that car window, that carlesha kicked out, missing and covering with plastic. Agent moved in, utilized one of their vehicles to block him, to prevent him from leaving the parking area, took him into custody without incident.
