One man was making and dangerous stuff that he used to to it. Good Tuesday Morning everybody, it is tuesday, july 15th, 2014 just after 4 00 this morning. It wases another crazy night last night. Those storms were loud. It was a loud night, sue. It really was. Were not out of the woods because it will be hot and humid again today. Would you think we would have gotten relief but no, it will be, enough humidity so when a cold front comes through tonight we could get round two. Lets look back before we look ahead because we have got the loop of the last 12 hours, now here we go, the loop is starting right now. We will stop this at about yeah, 8 40 last night. Look at that lightening. That is typical of the storms that came through starting at about 7 00 oclock last night and moving through by 10 00. Most of the drama was out of here but there is still a few drips around this morning. Mostly were experiencing just some fog this morning and there is a big picture look at ultimate doppler radar. You can see a few spots of green around. I think we will be okay for morning hours. Around State Capitol in harrisburg we have rain right new but quick look at the future cast shows by 11 00 this morning we are seeing rain north and west of the city and around noon it is up toward new york and then here comes the cold front out to the west around 3 00 oclock. 5 00 it starts to enter western suburbs. By 7 00 oclock here we go again with the possibility of loud thunder and lightening and very gusty wind and heavy rain. That lasts until about ten or 11 00 and that should be it. Flash flood watch continues throughout this evening for the entire viewing area and we are under a slight risk of severe thunderstorms, from the storm prediction center, out there in norman, oklahoma we are looking for, we will look to them for risk of severe thunderstorms. Heres where we were yesterday at 90 degrees with 87 being our actual average high, for yesterdays date, and then we are we are looking at 75 in philadelphia with southeasterly wind at 3 miles an hour. Sunrise at 5 45 this morning. So we will probably get in the upper 80s with plenty of heat and humidity for the rest of the day and as we just showed you round of showers and thunderstorms coming anytime i would say after four or 5 00 oclock is when we will get rock and rolling around here. Ready for round two, kacie. I dont know sue serio, i was watching a show last night and thunderstorms were knocking the power, i dont know. Here we go again. Thanks very much. Receipts go to an accident Gloucester City north bound side of 42 at 676 left lane block that is out there until approximately 6 00 a. M. With that for a little bit longer this morning and as we go eastbound side of the pennsylvania turnpike before reading, 286, right lane is block there for accident number two, kerry and dawn. 4 03. This system packed a dangerous punched, lightening, heavy rain covering much of the area. Center city philadelphia went dark just after 7 00 oclock last night. Heres time lapse video. You can see the city just disappear. Meanwhile, crews all across the the region are working to restore those outages, in the the philadelphia area there are about 1300 customers still in the dark. We even received reports that the mayor was out assessing the damage overnight. A lot of our video was shot between blue ridge road where several trees toppled and toss add cross highways, siding and roofs were ripped off of homes because people in the area who heard a strong gust of wind before walking outside and seeing the damage. I know some of the damage is a tree covering a car over there and the house behind it, has the roof gone. This morning there is still no word on the condition of the person. We are checking on this story and we will bring you the latest information as soon as it becomes available. Septa police confronted a passenger. Steve keeley live at septa headquarters on more on what they found and was happened. Reporter you know, i always laugh when i hear people say why didnt they shoot him in the legs instead of killing him. This guy is lucky he is not dead. Lets put up our picture. This guy is riding on the subway train last night the broad street line with all this on him. Not in a bag, this is on his, in his shirt, waist band, you name it. Three butcher knife, four guns that turnout to be bee bee guns but nobody will know that until they get them and look at them closely, and what you see there are the co2 Carbon Dioxide canisters that shoot the bee bees and a couple of canisters of bee bees. That is what all that stuff is. All this on one guy 49 years old while riding the subway. He tells police he has all this on him for protection. He is in the a local chef coming to work with those butcher knives he need all this for protection. Lets put up tom, tremendous restraint and quick action by Transit Police resulted in split second decision toss tackle and in the shoot the man with guns and knives because what happened was a with man riding the train sees one of the guns, just as he leaves the ellsworth federal station heading northbound. Would the man called police, she said this guy ace board the train with the gun. So septa detectives pulled up the surveillance camera, see this guy on camera. They also see he has at least one gun showing. So they wait for him. He gets off at city hall station where we are and then walks over to love park. That is where a brave, smart, savvy, tough septa transit cop, get the cop, pulls the guy, the guy pulls one of the guns even though this is a Uniformed Police office are and identifies himself as such and this officer not knowing they are bee bee guns still doesnt shoot the guy but tackles him and lucky he didnt hurt himself just tackling all these weapons at the same time. Another unreal story. We have seen plenty of stories where people hold up people with bee bee guns because you dont know it is a beebee gun until police find it and realize it is a beebee gun but beebee gun can do damage and we have seen People Killed with butcher knives and big knives like that. You never know who is with you on the subway. The heres another instance of watch out how are with and great call by that woman. Again if you see something, say something. Thank god she said something and thank god for the septa Police Officer and that why is this guy ace live and in jail and not in the morning, dawn and kerry no kidding, you have to be on guard, keeley, thank you. So what was that mysterious odor in montgomery count that i led to all those evacuations. All right. Well, i would love to tell you we are out of the woods as far as storms are concerned but it will not happen. We are under a slight risk of severe thunderstorm all a lock the east coast with a cold front predict to come through later on in the day today. Here we go again, Flash Flood Watch in effect throughout this evening for the entire viewing area because when you get a thunderstorm as we experienced last night that thunderstorm could ab code by high winds and most importantly heavy rain. That is what causes the flash flooding that really can be a mess. Now things have calm down in the area although it is still muggy and cloudy but as we zoom in on ultimate doppler we will see nothing at our shore points like it was yesterday at this time. We will run through the future cast and show you mostly cloudy skies, a little bit of sunshine to warm us up so when cold front comes through a line of strong thunderstorms, anytime after three or 4 00 this afternoon and lasting throughout the the night and then by wednesday, we are starting to see some clearing at last and excellent weather in store for thursday and for friday. So we will look a head to today and a high of 87. Cloudy and muggy with scattered storms. Very similar to yesterdays forecast. Tonight were down to 70 degrees in the city. Things will calm down but we have chance of strong thunderstorms this evening. So kacie baton down hatches once again. All right, thanks very much, sue. Going out, to two accidents, pretty bad once, eastbound side of the pennsylvania turnpike right before reading at exit 286 right lane block there. Use some caution this one will be with us until 6 00 a. M. We are right around an hour and 45 minutes on that one. Northbound side of 42 at 676, the left lane blocked there approximately until 6 00 a. M. And that is in Gloucester City. Looking at your travel times you can imagine everything is moving just fine, kerry. Very good, thank you. 4 13. Taking a live look at the beautiful lights in the city this morning, so for a time, yesterday they were out. That is right, a lot of power got knock out last night because of those strong storms that came through and we even had a tornado watch in effect in Burlington County a little bit after 8 00 last night. As you can see, from this, the last 12 hours, weather loop, tons of lightening, lots of thunder, you heard that accompanied by gusty wind and heavy downpours and that brought down a lot of those power lines. Look at 7 25 last night, so much lightening not only in the philadelphia area, New Castle County delaware up there towards new york. We had it out to the west and that, continues through eight or nine or 10 00 oclock last night. A lot of weather drama yesterday. There is a cold front out to the west but the front, itself, is out in ohio, but, for us, there are still some drips and drabs of showers ahead of it. Nothing like what we saw last night. We need more of the day to build up heat and humidity. Closest showers are out around the State Capitol. Quick look at the future cast shows cloud cover hanging around today, and then a little bit of sunshine, just after 3 00 oclock. Then we will build up heat and humidity and here comes more dramatic thunderstorms around six or 7 00 oclock lasting through about midnight, or maybe a little later. So throughout this evening we have a Flash Flood Watch an event with repeat of those thunderstorms, possible, were under slight risk of severe thunderstorms for today and tonight. It was a muggy monday. We did make it to 90 degrees. That is two days in a row of 90 or above because, yeah, well, anyway 75 degrees was our high temperature. It is our current temperature. Im trying to remember what sundays high was. Ill look that up. 84 percent relative humidity. 5 45 is our sunrise time. There are your visibility numbers. 7 miles in philadelphia not too bad. We have a lot of fog in lancaster. So this could change. We will be on the fog watch for this morning with the muggy 75 degrees in philadelphia, and dew point of 70. So the storms really didnt do anything to the humidity, it is still out there. So, 87 is what we are thinking for a high today. We dont think we will make it to 90. Seventy tonight. Evening storms will dissipate much later after midnight, kacie. We will take a look at delaware right now, weve got 89 6a shot up, right now, it is no the that good. Route 40. Now in new jersey about 3,000 customers still in the dark, pse and g reporting most significant cant outages are right now, in camden county. A tip to trend to police leads to a shocking discovery. Steve keeley is live at septa headquarters with more on what they found, steve. Reporter kerry, we dont do this weekly but maybe we should. We hand out two good day a awards, first of all subway citizens of the week and transit officer of the week for second award. Lets go to the picture. Woman riding the broad street line saw a guy carrying all this, she didnt see everything, but just one of his four guns. She didnt see anything of his three big butcher knives that he had hidden without cutting himself and so she calls 911. Septa Police Detectives pull up their surveillance cameras as train pulls out of the ellsworth federal station going north and they see one of the guns, as well. The guy with all this on him then gets off at city hall, goes over to love park where a septa officer stops him and he just doesnt surrender but reaches for one of the guns according to septa police chief, tom, who says when he reached for one of the guns he was tackled instead of being shot. He called it tremendous restraint in the case where a shooting would have been certainly justified since that officer, the the woman caller, at anything else in that first glance split second decision has in idea that all four guns are bee bee guns. That is you why see those bee bee cases and co2 gas canisters in the picture. That is what powers the the bee bee guns. Well, the big knives are real and could be used as deadly weapons. The 49 yearold guy carrying all this after his arrest said he has all this on him because he needs it for protection. Dawn and kerry that makes you wonder what small army this guy is expect to run into on the broad street subway line where he needs all this needs more than a split second to decide which of those seven weapons when he needs all that protection, because he is not a octopus. Scary stuff, in doubt, steve, thank you. Some answer from his governor tom corbett about the Philadelphia School districts money crunch and proposed cigarette tax to ease that crisis. Fox 29s jeff cole spoke one on one with the governor and he asked tom corbett if he will push state law make tours push 2 a pack tax to close the city funding budget. I said we need to have the Education Funding done for the city of philadelphia for the school district, all the of the parties must come to the table and yes, i have said this bill should run clean and should get passed so we can open the schools in september, in philadelphia. Now the house is due back in harrisburg early next month for a possible vote. School district says even with the tax on cigarettes it will have a 69 milliondollar gap in funding. A couple finds a four yearold little girl walking outside nearly name. She wont say anything but she leads them right to the crime scene. What they have found, next. Then a local grandmother says shes sick and why did she get slapped with the ticket for having trash in her yard what fox 29 discovered that has philadelphia taking another look. One person described the scene as feeling like he was being hit by raining bullets. The storm lasted a couple minutes but many were left with severe bruising. Wow. You can see why. Crazy. Every where this crazy weather. I know, taking a live look right new in olde city outside our studios here. It doesnt look too bad right now. It is really humid though and sue, we had a stormy night and more in store for today. This time it is a cold front coming through. This is the one that will change our weather for the the even of the workweek in a good way which is what we have to look forward to for thursday and friday are really nice low humidity days but to get there we have to go through some more stormy conditions. So for today and tonight we do have some Flash Flood Watch. It the is still in effect and that would be the case for the rest of the day. I thought would i go through the future cast with you to illustrate just what will happen . Look at cloudy skies for this morning and as we go through the the rest of the morning it just looks like mostly cloud which showers way out to the west. So that is the deal throughout the morning. Now as we continue through the the rest of the day, we will see possibility of a few sprinkles by lunchtime but we are sock in with clouds, just when the sunnies starting to come out, maybe one or 2 00 in the afternoon just to build up some heat and humidity. This is when the leading edge of the cold front starts moving through so any time after four or 5 00 oclock we have possibility of pretty strong thunderstorms and we see them moving through at 7 00 or 8 00 oclock tonight. Gusty winds. Heavy rain. Just like what we saw yesterday through eight or 9 00 oclock. After midnight the strong storms finally start to dissipate a little bit. We may still have left over showers in the morning, tomorrow, but it is a case where there is plenty on have rain in the forecast. So, our high today will be about 87 degrees with scattered storms late in the day. Tonight, we are down to about 70 degrees, we wont be quite as warm at night or quite as mild but we will still have a few left over showers. That is your fox cast for your tuesday, yeah, i had to think about that for a second. It is tuesday. Difficult too for some reason i thought it was thursday. That is wish full thinking. That will in the happen. The eastbound side of the pennsylvania turnpike, before reading this accident still with us.
