Rollover. Thats a good boy. For peter, he is 13 years old growing up in jackson, new jersey. Nice cake. Last year, he did something that many 13yearolds have the courage to do. He came out as gay. Now, he believes his parish is a discriminating against him. I feel upset and frustrated, and also very confused as to why i have been kicked out. Why do you think it is . Because of who i love. Peter attended a weekly religious classes for nine years every tuesday night. He was preparing for his confirmation in the fall of 2017. In november, he said the parish told him he could no longer attend. She pulled me over to the side and she says to me, she says, peter, how was your night . And i said my night is fine how was yours. And she said good. Do you think you could call your parents for me . And i said why . And she said because you are not allowed to be here anymore. The parish told peter he must be homeschooled. To this day his parents have said they have yet to get a clear answer as to why. Was your reaction . Very angry. They sent letters, make calls, they say father ban brick has yet to provide any information to him other then they wouldnt do it,. The family is now assuming the worst that the parish has told the family to homeschool peter because he is gay. So, i reached out to the father for comments. Here is what i got in response. A long statement. He points out that children are put on home study for a bridie of recent, behavioral, scheduling, other things like that. Never because of their sexual orientation. He even quoted pope francis ang, who am i to judge. But they still want to know the exact reason, especially. But they still want to know the exact reason, especially since theyre paying for this. They plan of filing a lawsuit. The parishioners in the community, if hes running the ccd program that we pay for, to tell us why. That is a problem. They did not reach out or give us an explanation for this fathers not to father. Im a father. He is just a priest hiding behind a robe. And his catechism studies will end in eighth grade. He is in a gray. He will it will end when he makes confirmation. Exactly, so the point is that will they not confirm him . Is here not a welcome member of the parish are just not during the ccd time question work. He cannot go to classes. But if hes good enough to go to the church on sunday, why cant he go to ccd on tuesday . It is inconsistence with the teaching of the church to discriminate against someone who is homosexual because it is not about his homosexuality, but it is one of the tenets of the church that the homosexuality is a span. It sounds to me if he was disruptive or what kind of clothing was he wearing. That stuff comes up in ccd class. It does make sense to me that he was a look, this is to rip disruptive to the other kids in class. Homeschooling is a normal thing. I get sick and tired of people announcing that theyre gay and then expect everyone else to fold. We dont know why hes homeschool. The presays theres many other reasons. Many kids are kicked out of the program and have to be homeschooled. Just because he felt comfortable saying hes gay 13 does not mean that everyone else is a bigot. I think its quite obnoxious to be pushing to sexually orientation and a ccd orientation and a ccd class. In a catholic school, is outrageous. We just learn peter was homeschooled due to behavioral issues. He got that answer friday afternoon, hours after we went to the parish are self to learn more. Now, they said litigation is still on the table. Tell me he still doesnt know what behavioral issues the church is talking about. Stay with us for more the story. We will keep you updated. There was told me i was adopted. So it would be no surprise to me. For somebody said i know you are adopted. Thats not even your real mother. So, i always knew. Let her grow up in new jersey is an only child knowing that gertrude and charlie were his adoptive parents. Of course he he always wondered what were his biological parents like. In december 2016 when a law passed allowing adopted people to obtain their birth records, finding other parents name, their birth location and of course their medical identity, he was so excited. To find out more about who he is. Hold on a second. No part of your name is what you thought it was. After his son helped him fill out a number of papers that he needed to submit in order to get his birth records, he finally figured out a little about himself. Thats exciting to me. Thats not my original name. What is your original name. That was a joke of the family. I like trying to think of a creative name. Youre not a bernie are you . Craig. Yes, craig. Nice to meet you craig. That was not the only surprise. He also found out things about his mom. I was always told that she was 16. And she moved to marshall islands. With the show maybe we could get connected to his mother. Let me ask you, have you thought about whether or not his mother wants to be contacted . He has been shes hope hes hoping at this point she knows that theres not a deep he doesnt want to deep connection but more about the medical history. Thats an important point. The con side of this is that the opposition saying that there could be a decrease in the number of kids put up for adoption because theres an expectation of state anonymous. The medical records are so important because when you think youre raising the child you dont know if there cancer runs in the family or you dont get test until later in life. The thing is if you are adopted into a loving, caring, wonderful home, theres a, theres a part of you as a person who is adopted who you just dont know what you couldve been if your birthparents for your current parents. That eats away at someone. If we find her what would that be like . I have a funny feeling, i dont know what i would say. I dont know. It would be mindboggling. No white line. For cleaner energy. [inaudible] does that were you . Theres a raging debate and possibly a final vote this month by the commission over a plan by south jersey gas to build a 22mile gas pipeline and protected land. I figured theres only one way to get the groundlevel perspective on this walk the entire 22mile route, talk to people who live on the proposed pipeline. Anybody . So for the third and final part of my trip i want to find something. Economics, dollars and cents. South jerseys economy economy is not in good shape. Theres foreclosure rates are among the highest in the nation. I met quite a few people like don sweden who is in the middle of cleaning out her family home. Theyre moving out and just lost their home to foreclosure. I think the pipeline should go through. It there must be jobs in the area. He gets rid of the old, outdated equipment and will be safer for the environment. That is the main thing. Is the pipeline, is just how economically hurting this area. Its horrible. We have lost our house. We have been fighting for and its gone. You know it, start over. Back in the day they slept it on the, their shipping crates on the wall. The house is made of shipping crates. Is another thing, pipeline could harm the environment but if the people who live here are currently breathing smoke from the coal powered plant that would be replaced by gas and make things a lot cleaner. Have converted to natural gas, they are happy. If you get a little cold then you went have any smelly be a lot better than what the cold was. And another thing, it could be a cash cow for the township putting 6 million per year the town caucus. Thats why why don is all for it. If they do away with it and not put the gas line and, theres going to cost me myself about 1500 a more year in taxes and everybody else would be a thousand or so. We are reaching the end of our destination here. Behind me now is a giant coal burning power plant where the pipeline would run. The gas in the coal, we pumped a lot of co2, people. The environmentalists do not want to. Its all about saving the pines. Its a tough. The tough call in the single probably be voted on later this month. And this one will and is all good journeys do. Forget the exotic locales like the amazon rain forest where the melting polar ice cast. Climate Climate Change can be felt that the very average level at the jersey shore. Close enough. What filmmaker dan shows us in his new documentary called bad is that the town of seabright may be disappearing before her eyes, but you would barely notice it unless theres a major storm or hurricane. If, and doing the documentary base looking at sea level and Climate Change scientist that i could disappear in the next 50 to 100 years. I caught up with dan at the beach and seabright. After i graduate i have footage in a thought i was a really great story. I should finish it. So people now are saying seabright shouldnt exist. Its not about pointing fingers or debated. You talk about the cause of the Climate Change and you going to a political rapid hold that you never come out of. But even youd deny that things are happening in changing. And what we do about it is what we need to figure out right now. This is the problem. The debate is not real debate. For not having an honest debate. Or have an a debate on the smallest little percentage weather not theres a temperature impact from human activity or not. Theres been fluctuation going back 5000 years. The reason that the politician and the people in specialinterest want to keep us in that debate is because if we keep fighting over it we want to anything. Thats how they raise the money.
