Where a manhunt is underway for the gunman behind an ambush style attack on two police officers. This is a picture from the scene of one of the attack on a des moines suburb in urbandale. About 20 minutes later, another officer was found shot about two miles away. Both murdered officers were shot while sitting in the patrol cars. During a News Conference just a few moments ago, could barely contain his fear and anger when asked if his department was in danger. Theres clearly danger if youre a police officer. These guys were gunned down sitting in their car, doing nothing wrong. Theres definitely some danger out there. Somebody out there is shooting police officers. New develops this morning in the search for a missing malaysian airliner. Russell there are reports no one was at the controls when it fell from the sky. The plane has been missing for two years now. Only a few pieces have been found. Investigators think it ran out of fuel while flying over the indian ocean. They may give up the search the plane was flying in the opposite direction from where it should have been going and nobody still knows why it flew off course. There were 239 people on board the flight. Laura federal investigators are looking into a deadly crash in baltimore. Collision between a school bus and a commuter bus yesterday morning killed six people and injured 10 others. There were no children on the school bus at the time. Ive contacted several public spokespersons and there are only two in the entire bay area that i know of that will be providing and that is the ymca at north Pinellas County. That is in palm harbor. They will be providing election day excuse me, free child care on election day the entire day. Its only allowed for an hour and a half. You do not have to be a member. And all you have to do is fill out a couple of papers and then everything should be okay. The other location is in hernando county, spring hill more specifically and theyre providing free child again, most of your ymcas locally will not be providing free child care. Here is the confusion with all of this. Usa today did a story on this a couple of days ago, about four days ago and they said they interviewed the ymca of the u. S. A. , the president there. And he came up with the idea of providing free child care for all ymcas. The usa today did the article and they said all ymcas were that was clearly wrong because now a lot of local ymcas are saying we cant afford this. We cant do this for a number of reasons. But specifically, too, we dont have the number of employees to do it and b, we just dont have the facilities. Our facilities are not big enough. Again, the president of the national ymca said, you know, election days are one of the most important days in the u. S. So thats absolutely correct but the issue is, if you talk to a lot of local chapters, they dont have the facilities for it, dont have enough employees for it. That one you can argue how people are feeling and then well get to hard numbers in a bit. Consumer sentiment is declining. It had a really sharp drop over the past month. And you know, Economic Indicator so it gives you an idea or one of the factors that tells you where the economy may be heading and last month, Consumer Sentiment dropped 4 . For one month, thats a really, really significant drop which is ironic. Well look at other numbers that indicate the economy is doing pretty well. But Consumer Sentiment dropped 4 . Put that in context, if you look back at 2008, its up 70 since the Great Recession. Than we were as far as Consumer Sentiment goes but all of a sudden, i think as a result of the stress of the election right now, were seeing a pretty significant decline in Consumer Sentiment. Russell and lets look at the other numbers and try to maybe make people feel better about where we are. Consumers a little bit on edge. We pointed that out. If you look at some of the other factors in the economy that really do measure how things are looking, the u. S. Gross domestic product, a measurement of all the in the United States jumped 2. 9 in the last quarter. Thats a big increase, especially since the quarter before is only up 1 1 2 . If you look at what its done since the Great Recession, its actually increased 25 . So thats a pretty nice increase. Unemployment is now at 5 . That is down. Its cut in half since the Great Recession of 2008. So unemployment is much better. The job market is better. Leading Economic Indicators, variables is up 1 so the sentiment in the big picture and the numbers in the big picture are up and theyve increased 40 since the recession. Thats a real positive. If you look at consumer spending, which is 70 of the economy depends on consumer spending, that jumped 2 and its up 15 overall which should make retailers really happy. Housing starts are now at 1. 1 million annual Housing Starts 100 , doubled since the Great Recession. So on the whole, the economic picture is good and improving but at the same time, consumers are just not feeling very comfortable about where things stand and i think a lot has to do with the election. Russell and also, could it be also im sure a lot of it has to do with the election, but could it also be its a slower than expected recovery . From the increase. Wages havent necessarily gone up enough and the kind of jobs that people would like to have, they may not be able to get so youre right. There are some other factors out there because its kind of a slow economy, slow growth economy and bills dont go away and people are a little bit on edge about that, although things are even improving when it comes to wages but its been slow and thats been affected. What they are going to recognize is that the layout of the airport is not changed. Its still easy to get around. Walter a little more than a the goal is to be the best airport in the country.
