So we can tell you just yesterday, the Pinellas CountySchool District did release a statement saying in part, Pinellas County schools will keep working with state and local Health Departments. Theres already policy in place to deal with Mosquito Control. Teachers will share information with the students and at this point, recess is not affected. Now, the message encouraged concerned parents to spray their Kids Clothing with bug spray repellant. Some are up to eight hours. Spraying before school should provide coverage for the school share the information. Governor scott shared this message tuesday. We have a total of 42 non travel related cases in the state. Weve been able to deal with other mosquito borne viruses. He has active warrants for child abuse and neglect when it if you have information, call the Bradenton Police department or crime stoppers. Laura a pedestrian is hit and killed by a car in Pinellas County and it happened at roosevelt boulevard and 60th street north in clearwater. Its an intersection with a history of pedestrian crashes. 57yearold man tried crossing roosevelt boulevard when he was hit by a chevy impala. He died at the scene. His name has not been rereesed. Troopers are trying to notify his next of kin. Driver is not facing any charges. Russell and this morning, two men have been shot in a st. Petersburg park. Police say the incident happened around 3. 156789 this morning at the bay vista park. Thats on pinellas point drive. Investigators say an fsu student may have guzzled killed. Police say austin herrof spent the morning with his fraternity brothers. He had a family dinner and walked three miles to his neighbors home. They say he ingested some chemicals and then killed a woman and a man who lived at that home. When police found him, he was still biting the dead mans face. No street drugs have showed up in his system. However, more extensive tests have not come back. Well talk about that in a second. But first, i have to show you hes 21 years old. His name is christopher rogue. Hes facing charges of lewd and lascivious battery, he was actually arrested after deputies say he was found hiding in the closet of this 13yearold pasco county girl. According to his arrest report, he was actually found by the girls mother. Detectives say he travelled from new york to meet her and then engage in sexual acts in her own bedroom. When deputies searched his phone, they say they found a nude of the young teenager. They exchanged photos via Text Messages and mobile app by the name of snap chat. Its a popular app used among young people. Snap chat allows users to capture and send photos that Self Destruct after a certain amount of time. When someone sends a message, they get to decide how long it will live on the device before it goes away. After that, its history. Snap chat is popular because you can take wacky pictures and photos and videos but its different from facebook and twitter because unless you take a screen shot, the pictures and video just simply going away after a certain amount of time. The motivation of snap chat is to provide more privacy than facebook and other social net networks. Unfortunately, theres reports of it being used for sexting. Thats pictures of themselves or someone else and then sends it to someone else as well. Its interesting because you get the social media apps that are constantly popping up or theyre always making changes and i just spoke with Charley Belcher a short time ago. He was telling me that facebook launched something in messages and its called secret conversations so basically a message mode that erases and doesnt back up. Again, its just another way that teens can communicate short amount of time, that text message, picture, is completely deleted from the internet world. As parents, we have to be very, very vigilant, know what is going on and everything thats on our cell phones and your kids cell phones as well because again, its at your finger tip. Becker is a former High School Star athlete in three different sports. Prosecutors accuse him of sexually assaulting two 18yearold girls while they were unconscious at a party. Girls fell asleep and woke up to find becker assaulting them. Police say he admits it telling them he thought it was okay because they didnt stop him. Prosecutors were seeking two years in prison. Judge gave the athlete two years of probation. His lawyer says, quote, we all make 19 years old and we shouldnt be branded for life with a felony offense. Putting the kid in life for two years would have destroyed his life. Theres a lot of ang other social media. One person wrote, this makes me want to scream. How are there so many judges that think rape isnt a big deal . Lets introduce yet another rapist to the world. People have learned little from brock turner. More raping of drunk girls, more brock turner was given a six month sentence for assaulting an unconscious woman behind a dumpster. The judge said turners youth and lack of a criminal record led to the lenient sentence. Because of that case, stanford now has new rules regarding alcohol at undergraduate parties. Beer and wine, those are still okay. A lot of students dont like the new policy. Its not something that is making us feel safer. With this new policy, i might be less likely to go out and like seek help in a situation. Its going to encourage students to aggressively drink in private rooms instead of publicly in parties which presents, i think, potentially increased danger of sexual assault. Sometimes a used car extended warranty makes a lot of sense but it depends on whether you use it or not. As i said, 55 of people who buy extended warranties dont use them and the average repair cost can be less than the cost of the warranty. It depends how much you pay. What it does do, it gives you peace of mind that if something goes wrong, if you get the bumper to bumper coverage, you all of the fine print of that contract. Thats a big if. I mean, there re things you have to do in order to get repairs on that car. You need to let them know in advance and they only let certain places do it, right . Thats exactly right. If you dont go sometimes to the dealer that if you look at the map, a national survey, here is a national survey. Average cost is 1200 per repair. The average repair cost, thats the contract, 1200. Average repair is 840 which means if you just paid for the repair, you would have saved about 360. The amazing thing about this, and it should tell you a lot. Theres a 50 markup on that the dealer or sales person. That should show you exactly how the numbers work because they wouldnt be getting 50 profit if they were giving you the full value of that contract. It wouldnt be a Good Business idea for them if they were counting on you not needing all of that coverage to cover the repairs. The oak thats behind us, that is over 200 years old, probably closer to 250 years owed. This is the old pavilion where homestead and their backyard was a word sink hole that filled as a swamp. George drained out the water and started planting in the black muck soil. He planted things from seed because you couldnt go to home depot and get them at the time. So many other places were plowed away for condos and development. Sadly, thats true. Its one of the original road side attractions and the road side attractions are what brought tourism to florida.
