And the big concern when we talk about zika is the further and further you get away from that original storm and the longer the water is allowed to stand, the really, the concerns about mosquitos laying that reality becomes more prevalent and more concerning. Today we know that congressional members are going to be meeting to talk about funding for zika again and right here in the bay area, just to give you an example, the cdc says when it comes to water, it takes only a teaspoon or a bottle cap amount of water for mosquitos to lay their eggs. That water standing for about a week can be a concern. If you live in an area where dishes, tires, trash, trash containers, anything that might be able to collect water, youre encouraged to make sure you dump that water out. You make sure that you dont leave any areas where water can stand for long periods of time. In addition to that, if youre going to be outside for awhile, youre encouraged to wear long sleeved shirts and long pants, take some steps to control mosquitos inside and outside your home, including using screens on windows and repair holes on the screens and use air conditioning when available. A good tool is insect repellant. If youre going to be outside, make sure you use insect repellant. If youre going to be in those areas where mosquitos are concerned and thats an issue that worries you. So this is a big worry. Weve been talking about it now for several months. This will be into the mid to no longer tropical by then but the moisture will be yanked northward. Good news is the two other areas of disturbed weather that im tracking, theyre not organized. Likely not going to create a big deal. As this moves westward toward the yucatan, a 20 chance of development and another disturbance that has not formed yet but likely will west of the cape verde islands. This is going to move westnorthwest. The long range models dont pose this as a big threat to us here in tampa bay but the peak of Hurricane Season four days away so cant let our guard down.
