Starting to make its way into cream southern pinellas. Weve had some wind gusts reports near the skyway on that southern end gusting already up to 40 miles finance hour. Thats obviously being caused by some of the squalls which are working there way along the coastline. Now you look some rainfall totals, this is basically since last night. You can see throughout Hillsborough County, one, 1. 7, 1. 8 nearly two inches of rain in fact into western Hillsborough County. But then along the coastline, this is Pinellas County. And you can rainfall estimates right near the coastline and weve got several more days to be dealing with this kind of weather. Heres the view, the enhanced satellite view action you can see this system is certainly been producing some very vigorous storms through overnight hours. Still has been dealing with some wind sheer. But wind sheer has been in that moderate level which i say lewd for center to basically kind of get underneath. Some of thunderstorm activity. Now, Hurricane Hunter plane has down there later on this afternoon. And thats when they will get a better idea of exactly whats going on with this system. But basically from the satellite passes theres some satellites that can remoting send some winds. Basically keeping this as a tropical depression at this point. So heres the latest accord nantsz 24. 6 north, 88. 0 west. Top winds are still at 35 miles an hour. But notice the movement is not moving. Its basically stationary. And thats bad news. Because its sitting basically moderate wind sheer, so comfortable conditions for it. And it also has got plenty of warm water to deal with. So theres that possibility this could start to strengthen even more as we go through the next couple of days. If basically sits longer. So theres the forecast track. You can see were expecting still that movement to the northeast. But we kind of slowing it down a bit. Instead of heading here by basically lunch time tomorrow, were looking more towards thursday evening. Still heading up towards the big on that righthand side, so weve got that west and southwesterly wind over us. Thats obviously going to be an issue. Now there are the Tropical Storm warnings out from basically Anclote River all the way back into the big bend at the walton bay county line. Theres also a hurricane watch in this area as well. Thats where we expect to see works conditions as this works its way son shore, anything to the righthand side of this, thats where youre going to see that southwesterly wind. That you can see we do keep Tropical Storm winds to the north. Still if youre talking inside squalls gusting up to Tropical Storm force, and winds coming up from the south and the southwest on top of the very heavy rain, thats going to cause a lot of issues. Heres some of the tides that you can see, were going to dealing with as we go through the next couple of days. And looks like, it should make land fall somewhere in between those high tides. But still, were going to have head into late tomorrow night into friday. So youll still be dealing with that threat of some of that additional surge as we go into late tomorrow night. Rainfall totals you can see 5 to ten inches along the coastline. Inside of some of the squalls, we could easily see some ten inches of rain more on this local forecast coming up a bit more coming up in a few minutes, linda. Pinellas and pasco counties are dealing with lot of rain coming in. We want to continue our Team Coverage i kelly cowan. So kelly, first awful where are you . And whats going on . Yeah linda were in largo right now. As so you can see it is coming down hard. We had a bit of a reprieve before. But were seeing some localized flooding in this area. Im going to step aside so you can look at the roadways and just how troublesome some roadways looking to us here. Rooer a vaughn road here in largo near 123rd avenue. Cars are still able to get through here. Standing water. As i mentioned there was a little bit of reprieve. These cars are able to get through the just water is pretty high and some of the lower cars lower to the ground are having some issues. So everybody should just slow down when youre out on the roadways because thee depths can change very quickly and it just started raining very hard here. Troublesome to avoid danger here. And emergency officials want to remind everyone to avoid standing water, turn around if you see getting stuck. And certainly not risking your life. Weve also seen a lot of flooding in parking lots. So if you are avoiding roads right now, you should definitely go ahead and check to make sure youre parked on higher ground. Because just next to this, an apartment complex nearby were already seeing a lot of flooding in their parking lots. And some of the cars parked in lower areas are having some trouble right now. Earlier today, we also saw just nearby here, hear here in largo some apartment yuntsz had to be plenty of water gushing through its area. Largo Officials Say they are also getting reports of localized flooding in gulfport Safety Harbor and other coastal areas. And officials are saying that if you are in a low lying area, you should expect some sort of flooding. Now there are a three different sand bagging locations here until Pinellas County. We have that information up on our website. Another tool we have up for you to use as tracker to see whether or not youre in low lying youre in higher area, like it does right here where we are in largo, you should just be aware. Because as we mentioned before, and as you can see, there are a lot of trouble zones out there right now, linda. Traffic is definitely going to be an issue over the coming days which may be one reasons were learn Hillsborough County Public Schools will be closed tomorrow. That just coming into our news room. Of course we will update everybody a we continue to get message Different School districts. Thank you, kelly. Creeping up on clearwater beach. So they are moving life guard tourts. Forklifts were out there picking up towers and scooting them farther up the beach. Even the forklift drivers had to have their windshield wipers on. St. Pete mayors is asking people to conserve water over next few days to ease the butter hold off oh doing run dish wash other doing extra laundry thousands of gallons sewage pumped into the bay when rain overload t s standing water is already caused problems for drivers today. Authorities had to close northbound ramp from i 275 to 54th avenue south in st. Pete. A few drivers were left stranded. It started to come up a little bit above my side. Because i kind of pulled over to the right. So my right side was on a curve a little bit. Is a that lifted it a little bit. Then two trucks came by and it flooded the water up into the by ambulances water was flooded. And there is a special phone number set up for people in Pinellas County to call with storm related questions or to report a problem. The 91 center is overloaded with calls, so the number to call is 7274644333 call other number for preparedness skwes or to report any issues such as do we have a School Tomorrow and we just learned before we get to our next live shot that Pinellas County is also right now we no hillsborough and pinellas will not have School Tomorrow and of course we will keep you updated appearary management officials in pasco kourn are paying attention to this storm of course. That county as weve seen in years past, is extremely prone to flooding. Fox 13s everyone lambert has been talking with some county officials and everyone. What are the main concerns for pasco with this particular storm . Linda, main concerns here in pasco are flooding and essentially what Emergency Managers are saying is areas flood again. With this system. Emergency Managers Meeting just over my shoulderer, still here right now. Crafting a game plan on how to respond to this storm making sure they are all on same page as they prepare for tropical depression 9. The storms biggest impact will be felt tomorrow. Especially during high tide. Anclote river is expected to reach moderate flooding stage with highest water levels coming this weekend. And Officials Say that areas normally flood here in will flood again specific actually elfers trinity, hudson, and win. Possibly sustained around 30 mile per hour is also another major threat. Listen. This from conditions favor Tropical Storm force winds over next couple of days. We have a flood watch in effect for all of pasco county, between 2 00 p. M. Today, and through it says friday at 8. But i, expect that is going to weekend. And as weve heard about other School Systems and announce closures for tomorrow everyone asking us about schools here in pasco county. That decision has not be made yet. But Emergency Management Officials Say that one will be made around 3 this afternoon as to whether schools will be open or closed here in pasco tomorrow. There are also sand bag locations throughout the county, one of them including the eoc here in New Port Richey to get more information, about those sand bags or to report any storm related issues number for that. That number is 727eight 472411. Linda. All right, thank you, so much evan. We checked in with Tampa International airport officials are saying so far so good despite all this rain they are not seeing any significant flight delays. And remember the bucs preseason game, that was supposed to be thursday night is changed to tonight. Kick off is at at 8 oclock. Vice president ial account mike pence is holding a rally later this afternoon. And fox 13s Kimberly Kuizon is Hyatt Regency with more. Hi kimberly. Hey there, linda. This is the first rally that mike pence will hold in florida. Organizers tell us theres expected to be about 500 people that show up here today. But that number could be less, because of the weather. Weve heard it thundering and starting to now donald trump did choose the indiana governor as his running mate in july. Pennies calls himself a christian a conservative and a republican. And now while he did endorse ted cruz in indiana primary he also spoke highly of trump calling him a man that never quits, who never backs down and who is a winner. In the past pennies struggled to give a clear interpretation of trumps immigration policy. Hell more than likely be talking about it today as donald trump meets with president of mexico. Now the rally is scheduled start bring you the latest. Back to you, linda. All right thank you, kimberly we know youll keep us updated lets go back now to weather comp. Were not alone in waiting for storm to hit. Another one churning in atlantic and expected to dump lots of winds and some rains on North Carolina outer banks. Those winds are kicking up the surf and ruining the last few days of Summer Vacation for tourists. Jim, i know this is just the beginning. Right . But i i can tell you already affected every one of traffic. Yeah. Rain has made it really slow and treacherous in some places on the roads. It really has. But, you know, i was stuck in it this morning way im looking looking a it the try to keep myself happy if we all get safely doesnt matter how long it took. Certainly traffic will be an issue with all of this wul at heavy rain. If you can void being out on roads you certainly want to do so, especially in Pinellas County, right now, because that rain, you can see some very right now. Across the Sunshine Skyway bridge. Extremely heavy rain, these are the those tropical downpours. So that rain comes down like crazy inside of these storms. A little bit of lightning, but most of this is just that very heavy rain. So from bradenton down towards sarasota, along i75, and then that drive, along the Sunshine Skyway bridge, that would be a very dangerous drive right now. And then into Pinellas County. And pinellas youve already been hit overnight hours. And some locationses, you picked up 6, seven inches of rain throughout Hillsborough County anywhere from 1 to a little over two inches of rain. Then right near the coastline, you see the jackpot over towards indiana rocks. 6 to 7, over seven inches of rain by Doppler Radar estimates. So certainly, youre dealing with a flooding, and its just getting starred at this point. Weve got more heading your way. Heres a location of td number satellite presentation, its really starting to get a little more organized at least more thunderstorm activity. It looks like the center still may basically sitting on that northern side. But at least youre starting to see its kind of wrapping around bit more starting to see more out flow on northeastern side. Now the Hurricane Hunter will be flying down there later this afternoon. Kind of really pick out exactly where the center of this storm is. Well get more information, and get strength of this system. Right now they are maintaining this as tropical depression based on satellite information mainly. Another closer view you can see at the beginning of loop you can really see how you can see storms bubbling un. Give shadows cast in there. You can see how you get big thunderstorms in there. And so certainly growing in intensity. Weve kind of been watching it pulsating over past several days. And it looks like its finally lower wind sheer and very warm water. On top of that now, its stationary. Going to change the game a little bit. Right now winds are still 35 miles an hour. 24. 6 north. 88 degrees west. Its currently stationary but is expected to pick up more of that north and eventually northeasterly Movement Later on today, and into tonight. And that track, you can see heading up towards the big bend area, as we get into thursday, evening, now, remember yesterday were talking about more of some time lunch time afternoon, so weve kind of delayed it a little bit, because its really slowed down. And remember, anything on that righthand side, thats where we have that southwesterly wind. And strongest portion of the system. But still were talking about a Tropical Storm at this point. But still that outside chance this could strengthen to hurricane force. But mainly were talking about Tropical Storm force winds who are hurricane gusts further to the north. But even when we see that wind tampa, 30, 35 miles an hour, that causes issues. We do have the Tropical Storm warning out from Anclote River wrapping all the way around back into the panhandle. And wave heights and wind gusts across the gulf of mexico really starting to pick up. You can see winds with some the buoys picking up now still in tropical depression range but its intensifying. At least all conditions are showing that this is going to intensify. You can see winds with this, kind of the focus point that the big bend, were not necessarily in those Tropical Storm force winds, i think well probably start to see some Tropical Storm force gusts in squaws as they move through here. Remember these, squalls will start to come more and more frequent as this works its way towards coastline for tomorrow. And on top of that, you have to deal with the storm surge with that west and southwesterly wind. Through say Pinellas County, tampa down to our south were looking between one to 3 foot head further to the north. It looks like timing of this should become high tide cycles. Still as you go into tomorrow night, heading into early friday morning, were still going to be dealing with a pretty strong southwesterly wind. So that may come into more of a play that early friday morning tide cycle were heading towards that high tide. Now, got to really get into the feel for why were going to see that. You lay down the map, you can see winds basically blowing right up into the mouth of bay. Up into the bay. You combine that with a very heavy rains with those squalls. So the sewers, they just cannot drain that water off quickly enough. And thats why youre going to start to see lot fresh water flooding as well. Then you deal with that surge right along the coastline. So salt water intrusion right near the coast. Forecast for today, weve got periods of downpours daytime high about 83 degrees. Then for tonight we still have at showers around. Heavy. Remember, inside of all of this we also have been to dealing with that threat of tornadoes as well. Its a small threat, but its certainly there. And then for tomorrow, windy, rain, weve got skwaults moving through between 5 to 10 inches of rain along the coastal areas. Dont go out in boat. Just there do it. Small craft advisories are out winds out south 20 to 30 knots for todays seas four to six feet they will build hire for tomorrow. High tide coming up 2 01 this afternoon. Sevenday forecast, rain chances staying high even into friday. With this storm slowing down were still going to be dealing with effects on friday. Then well slowly clear everything out as we head towards the week. Were back with more on this coming up in a little bit, linda. Thank you, jim. An airline just made history. We can do this, millions of jobs right here in america. Were continuing to track a tropical system thats bringing lots of rain into the bay area. We are continuing to track a tropical system that bringing Hillsborough County and pennsylvaniaing count school cancelling classes tomorrow were waiting to hear from some other counties. Lets get back to meteorologist jim weber with latest. Yeah were continuing to watch some very heavy rain along the coastal areas. Pinellas county auto got hit really hard last night and dealing with some rain right now. You can see it riding right up the coastline. Hillsborough county over polk county, mainly just that light to moderate rain. Heaviest portion right now just working its way through sunshine along i75. Down into manatee and extreme northern sarasota. Notice motion its working its way to north. Western Hillsborough County, youre likely going to see some of this. Also central and northern Pinellas County. Getting set for some very heavy tropical downpours. This rain just comes down like raez for probably about 10, 15 minutes. Then you kind of settle back down into the lighter rainfall totals. And then you look down to the south. More of that developing. We will continue to be developing with lot of this and lighter amenounts as you mo away electric coast throughout afternoon their satellite view of tropical depression number 9 you see how you get features kind of swing off of it and a produce heavy rain over us. This right now basically stationery which obviously not good news. Because it gives them more time to strengthen. Now its dealing with lighter wind sheer. Theres still that dry air on that northern and northwestern side. But you know i got to say for the most par been dealing with dry air fairly well. Remember, dry air tends to kind of choke these systems thats kind walled it off at this point. So it really doesnt look like its affecting it all that much. At this point. Now Hurricane Hunter will be flying down there shortly. And start to get a better idea of exactly the intensity of this system. Basically its maintained at that 35 mile an hour level. Basically on satellite imagery at this point. Currently stationary. 24. 6 north. And but it is expected to pick up that north and northeasterly motion. But we kind of slowed down the track a bit instead of tomorrow early afternoon. It looks like more like tomorrow evening. It will be working its way on shore. So there you have the Tropical Storm warnings out for portions of our viewing area going back up into the panhandle. Rainfall amounts really going to be probably our biggest threat across the tampa bay area. Heavy tropical downpours 5 to ten inches of rain. Even more as you head to nor get even more of that. Well talk more about that and talk about the storm surge threat coming up in a little bit, linda. Thank you, jim. Pinellas and pa pasco county are dealing lot of rain coming in. We want to start Team Coverage in pinellas with of courses kelly cowan. Last time we talked it was raining pretty hard. Yeah, the rain let up just a little bit because of all of that hard rain we were having here in la go i will step aside so you can look roadway behind theres even more rain water on the street right now. And, cars are dealing with this rain water. With varying degrees of lets just say responsibility. Some are flying right through here. Shooting rain water up. And others are taking it easy. We highly recommend that everybody just slow it down out here. We can hear another car creeping through here. We will keep the shot here so you can see how these cars are dealing with it. Everybody should just been warned there is a localized flooding going on on roads through Pinellas County right now. Everybody should just take it easy on roadways. And the situations are changing very quickly on the roadways. So slow down and if you see standing water, emergency officials are warning to avoid it. Right here we have were right next to a swollen creek here. And another thing that i want to point out to people is parking lots, you know maybe youre not on roadways right now but you want to check with you parked your car. And this apartment complex here, cars to higher ground. Just because there are some areas in the lower areas of parking lot that have experience ad lot of flooding and lot of standing water around those cars. Thats bad news. And another thing youre going to check for, when we came here, this vehicle that we drove here. Water was back up to the back tire there. So we had lot of standing water around the back tire. And this blue bin over here actually began its day right here in this spot where im standing. So thats ano on the roads, and in your complexes and things like that. The standing water, linda, is making not just cars move around, but also making a lot of objects move around as well. So just the message is to slow it down and be careful out on those roadways right now. Yeah be a good day if you dont have to go out to stay home. Just beginning. Thank you, kelly. Theres a special phone number set up for people in pinellas to call with storm related questions or if you need to report a problem. Overloadeded with calls so number theyd like you to call is 17274644333. Now you can still call 9 one for an emergency, but call for the other number for preparedness questions or if you need to report any kind of problems. Pasco county anticipating more flooding there. We know there are a plenty of low lying areas in pasco. Lets get to everyone lambert with latest with what he can testimony us High Pressure flooding is something people in pasco county watching. Given how prone certain areas are to flooding. As you just mentioned. Joining me live is kevin guthrie. Emergency Services Director here for pasco county. And, officials really have been meeting for about two hours now, meeting behind us right now. Kevin can you talk to us about what you all are planning as far as storm response . So right now were preparing several differet objectives. But specifically that is as you know, flooding what happens when flooding happens. We know we will have trees fall. What do we do the with the residents that are victims of that. So lets whaping behind us right now is that what is referred to as tactics meeting on how they are actually going to get those things done. And what thats going look like. Those two things were working on most of all right now we know we will have flooding and trees down. So they are formulating those responses as you say sheriffs office, fire rescue personnel, public works. Can animal issues Human Services in there putting things together right now. And what area specifically are you wa issues before you had said ones historically see problems. Yeah, we are expecting to have normal historical Flooding Issues. We are going to have Anclote River go to moderate flood stage. Weve told that by National Weather service. Those are areas elfers trinity, holiday area they will see flooding. What they need to do is come get sand bags from us that way inclement weather today we dont have inmates filling sand bag it will true self serve type situation. But people need to take were doing our part were getting out pumping things down being very quick to respond to those issues. But we need to know about them other thing to let us know when this start to happen let us know we have crews when you see behind us gearing up to respond to those issues they need to let us know. An important element you guys are pushing social media talk to me a little bit about that. Were asking everybody that dealing with storm pasco county or pasco storm. Again if they dont have any social media if they start getting we ask them to download our may pasco at play store or n iphone or the apple format. So we are asking them to do that. You did mention one thing, trees also. Theres trees coming down. They are going to cause structural damage and power line damage. Were gearing up for that. We want people to be aware of that people in flood prone areas should they leave . At what point do they make that decision. They need to make that decision for themselves. Your forecastor same thing 4, 5, 10, 15 inches of rain whatever that going to be. If they know historically flood, yes i would encourage them to go stay with loved one stay with friend. Now were not issuing an he vags weighs order. Were asking people to consider a self evacuation. If they become trapped in their homes, were going to respond to them. Were going to take care of them get them to shelter. We have that plan in place. Thank you, kevin. And, a lot to watch here in pasco county. As you heard him say, you need to make that decision nor yourself if u those flood prone areas, and it looks like it might be time to go get out stay with friend. So you dont have to take up police and emergency resources being rescued. Thats obviously not something any anyone wants to dipasco schools were still waiting to hear whether they are open that decision will come later today around 3 oclock as far as if schools here in pasco county if they will close. Weve seen other bay area counties we expect that to be made here in pasco at 3 this afternoon. Back to you. Thank you so much. As he just mentioned Hillsborough County and pinellas counties are closing schools tomorrow. You can stay on top latest information on the storm by going to www. Fox13news.
