Pasco county floodwaters are starting to recede but thousands of residents there just arent in the clear yet. Today emergency crews passed out 660 cases of water to families in badly flooded evacuation areas. They wanted to make sure water. Many of the properties in these neighborhoods use both well water and septic systems. And when flooding is this bad those wells can easily become contaminated and that can start making people sick. Septics lids are popped up. The septic water is coming bubbling up from the septic systems and drain leaks into the ground. So you are getting all that bacteria water floating down the river and down the roads and through the yards. So its dangerous. Anchor pasco county is not under a boil water advisory at the moment but Officials Say if your water is supplied by a well and you experience flooding it is a good idea to boil your water. Make sure that you have well water tested before you start drinking it and using it. We know there was a lot of damage in pasco county. The county just released preliminary numbers from hurricane hermine. Nine homes destroyed. Nearly 300 homes have major damage. In all, 322 structures affected by that storm. And Hernando County also releasing its damage estimates. Two structures destroyed. 18 with major damage. 179 with minor damage. The total estimate nearly 7. 8 million. That is, again, as paul pointed out last week a storm that passed 200 miles to our west. So you think about those numbers. If it was 100 miles closer and you realize the impact. People still struggling tonight. Gallons of paint, buckets of talent have transformed parts of st. Petersburg. This is cool. The next time you drive or walk down Central Avenue you may be distracted. Petes Second Annual shrine mural festival which invites professional artists to help revitalize parts of the city, start a dialogue and inspire creativity. Not every city is built for this but st. There are a lot of buildings that will serve as canvases so you definitely need to have your head on a swivel the next time you drive or walk through st. Pete. Thats really cool. Itsybitsy spider went up the chicago skyscrapers. A spider walking across a tower cam looking out on chicagos skyline. Okay. There you go. Leisurely labor day stroll enjoying the great chicago weather but ooh pretty cool looking. These things happen, you know. Weve seen that kind of thing on our cameras. Pauls pointed them out many times. This was like 25 seconds of some quality tv. So you are saying the spider wasnt a a giant spider wasnt attacking chicago . I used to have the that i dont know what it was a wasp. You would have the fake little ant or bug and you would smack really there. Remember that. Yes. Maybe not. Just play along. Active day today. The summer thunderstorm season by the way wraps up soon. Lets take a look back today. Along the coastline very active. Well put this into motion. We had showers and thundershowers develop later in the day right along the coast. The beaches in pinellas were nailed. Then as the storm slid to the county with heavy rain. Kind of a strange rain motion today. Moving from north to south. Thats an indicator that the weather is about to change. Ill explain why in a sec. First things first, showers inland and to our south will gradually end tonight. The rest of tonight even a bit cooler in spots with a developing north and northeast wind. The nights now are getting longer. Weve lost about an hour of daylight already since june. Thats moving in to the autumn season. Satellite radar shows generally a north northeast wind kind of rotating around the remnants of hermine off new england and High Pressure over tennessee. In between those two systems, winds are generally north and northeast. Outside now 73 in lakeland. 76 brooksville. 80 along the coast. Punta gorda had heavy rain and 73 degrees. Fort myers 75. Well probably have a direct hit tomorrow. 85mileanhour storm is going to move rapidly to the northwest then probably produce some monsoonal rains in arizona by wednesday and thursday. So, obviously, theyre rushing to get their preparations finished by time hurricane newton makes landfall during the day tomorrow. For us were 79. The dew point is 70. Showers and thundershowers weakening tonight. Here is the key to the forecast. You have the storm off new england. You have High Pressure over the tennessee valley. In between the high and low, the winds come in from the north and northeast tomorrow and that means a drier air mass in red. It will even be, i think, a little bit less humid. Not october or novemberish. But i think if you are outside tomorrow afternoon you may notice a slight done in the humidity even though daytime highs will stay all yellow. You think last week we had all the red tropical moisture from the approach of hurricane hermine. Now it is a flipflop. Now weve got pure dry air moving our way in yellow and brown. That means drier air. Also means that rain chances tomorrow through thursday, no more than 20 percent if that. That dry air stays around for wednesday until the moisture increases friday and into the done. Otherwise partly cloudy and about 75. Not much rain at all tomorrow. Well say mostly sunny and a touch less humid. And 92. And on wednesday were back to sunshine, isolated shower or thunderstorm and 91. We stay mostly dry on thursday. Rainy season not quite done. Showers and thundershowers likely over the weekend with temperatures near 90. Back to you. Political candidates didnt take the holiday off they were both out there crucial states.
