Well, tonight a Highlands County middle School Teacher, stacy hooks is behind bars, accused with having inappropriate sex with one of her students. And his mother is said to be the one who discovered the relationship. Stacy hooks has horked worked at Hill Gustat Middle School since 2012 and her record was spotless inappropriate relationship with a student was noticed during school hours. The charges involve sexual activity. On several occasions investigators say tamara stacy hooks hat sex with one of her students. And the superintendent said at one point over the past month she was reprimanded after being seen eating lunch with students and sharing a drink with one of them. When youre a young person in middle school and youre involved with a teacher at that level, not only is it very inappropriate but its against the law. The Highland County sheriffs report shows that hook was charged with five counts of lewd traveling to meet a minor for sex and three counts of sending harmal material to a minor. The students mom is the one who found things on her childs cell phone. She could not interpret them and came to us for help. It took three days for authorities to arrest her. In addition to teaching she is also one of the directors of the Afterschool Program and now authorities are wondering are there more victims . They have time to work with the school staff and other teachers and talk to any students who may be concerned. Deputies spent the day searching hooks home and computers and cell phones in any other evidence of inappropriate behavior. She is on administrative leave and currently in jail on a crystal clark for fox 13 news. And remember these scary pictures, a school bus on its side in the middle of a retention pond . Everybody on board was able to get out but now the Hillsborough CountySchool District is facing several lawsuits. State law requires attorneyed to give six months notice to a Government Entity before they with sue but they are saying a lawsuit. They went off to school and ended up 10 feet out in a pond with snakes and alligators. This mom says she remembered the afternoon of september 17 like it was yesterday. When i talked to walked up to the scene it was just something i never want anyone to go through. This bus with dozens of other students when deputies say the speeding driver cost lost alcohol, control, hopped a curb and landed in a pond. This is the familys lawyer and he has notified the district of their intent to sue, blaming the district and their hiring of the bus driver. Certainly there is a claim for negligence in hiring that particular bus driver. They are seeking money for medical bills and treatment for the moms 10yearold son who is still has breakdowns about the crash. We are not allowed to drive over 35 Miles Per Hour without a panic attack and we are not allowed to go out in conditions where the roads are slippier. It is will force the district to be more careful with hiring and training. What happened to all 27 of these children was just tragic and i feel it could have been prevented.
