The National Weather service will be here to survey the damage but i want to show you what is going on. Look at this tree. It is a huge tree that snapped by that tornado and was blown across here. You can see the debris from the branches. This is just one example of the damage that we are seeing. We have video of some of the damages. You can see trees falling on branches. They show the effect of yesterdays powerful tornado. Seven homes on huntsboro road destroyed. A cattle farm and dairy farm ripped apart. Many residents took cover in basements or hall which is. Nobody here was injured but residents are remembering those terrifying moments. Very scary. It was feeling like the whole house was shaking. It sounded like a big train coming through. When you look at this, it is not real. Gloria back here live you can see the trees and debris that is blown on to those dozens of feet high. The damage here. Caitlin im live in durham where residents are waking up with cleanup they will be faced with especially with scenes like this a car crushed by a tree on trevor circle in durham. Yesterday after this happened we had crews out here on the scene talking to residents who described it as sound being like there was a straight train rushing through their neighborhood typically that is what you hear with tornadoes much that was not the case. We want to stress there was not a tornado that touched down here but strong winds as can be seen with the trees down. As for this particular scene that we have been showing you with the car, the tree that crushed it, the homeowner, the woman who was in the consider escaped just 10 minutes prior to run inside. She was inside with the dogs and the wind became pretty ferocious so she climb into the dogs and she heard the crash. Caitlin she is ok. She was not hurt and we are not here. But driving in this morning even with it being dark we saw a lot of damage left behind and trees that fell down and debris in the roads and obviously it cover been worse. It could have fallen on the home. At least it was the car. A lot of people will be cleaning up today and we will follow to see if there are other damage reports. You see this large tree that fell on the car. We understand the woman had just gotten out of the car 10 minutes before this happened. She went inside but look how big the tree is. It cover easily fallen to it could have fallen on the home but that didnt happen. We know from talking to her husband she is ok. A lot of residents in the neighborhood were scared obviously when it hit not knowing if it would be a tornado this is the scene. This is one of the more severe situations but we have seen a number of trees down throughout this neighborhood. They had power lines down yesterday and after the storm passed through people started coming out of their homes assessing the damage as it was beginning it get dark taking do today. We had a chance to talk to some residents had said when they really heard the wind that is when they sought shelter. I immediately ran to the hallway closet and grabbed pillow. I was in there like a baby, praying. Hoping the house not be like the wizard of oz. Caitlin that man adding a little levity which is a good thing. So many residents who came out even seeing damage like this we hear this all the time and it is better property than people.
