Workers at several trash collecting companies which contract with the county are on strike. County leaders set a meeting yesterday with representative but the trash companies refused to attend the meeting. Work erg are demanding workers are demanding better wages and Affordable Health care. County officials insist the strike should for the impact trash service today. Charm city is experiencing a worker shutdown. Hundreds of long shoremen at the port of baltimore have gone on strike. That means ships cant load or offload cargo. The long shoremen say theyve been working without a contract for years and theyll walk the picket line until they get a new deal. Now that the Government Shutdown is over with, at least for now, lawmakers are about to turn their attention to social Social Security benefits and the cola or cost of living adjustment. The American Institute for Economic Research expects Social Security benefits will increase between 1. 4 and 1. 6 next year. Checks will go up by 15 to 20 of the the average Social Security check is about 1200. That increase would be smaller than the 1. 7 jump seniors expected this year and much smaller than the 3. 6 increase of last year. The government looks at a report called the Consumer Price index to figure out how much Social Security will increase. It measures inflation, the price it pays for food, gas, clothing, cars and everything in between. So when those prices rise, so does Social Security. But lately inflation has been tamed so the benefits will likely only increase modestly. Over the past year the average United States worker saw a 1. 7 raise in pay. But according to salary information site payscale, workers in ten cities got a more generous increase. San francisco came in at the top of the list. 3. 7 average pay increase there. People who live in st. Louis had a 2. 3 increase. Washington, d. C. Workers saw an average increase of 2. 4 . Other cities on the list atlanta, dallas, seattle, houston, baltimore, minneapolis and detroit. A new Starbucks Coffee house in chicago is made of entirely recycled shipping containers. Were starting with some roasted peppers. We have carrots, zucchini all going in there, all shredded and roasted. Were adding a little bit of flour, some sauteed onions going in and getting into some of the best stuff, the black beans. The black beans are going to give this a lot of richness, a lot of body. A little bit of seasoning with salt and pepper. Were going in with a little pam rica and some spices paprika and some spices. Its a lot of ingreed yentsdzs. It ingredients. It is and all fresh. If i would do this at home, its time consuming. It takes a little time but good food takes time. Good food is always worth that little bit. Adding a little bit of fresh paneko bread crumbs. Were using a little bit of olive oil as a binder. This is where you get in and get dirty. You get to get in there. This is the fun part. Make sure its nicely mixed up. How is business . We are a. E.
