state manhunt comes to an end. the two young sisters he is accused of kidnapping are safe. police say adam mayes shot himself jed. he was accused of killing the girl's mother and older sister in tennessee so he could abduct them. police say the missing girls were taken to the hospital for observation. mayes' wife is already some jail on murder charges related to the case. checking local headlines, 2 people arrested for smuggling drugs from honduras to virginia. they are charged with running a cocaine smuggling ring that brought millions ever dollar to northern virginia over the last six years. the smugglers hid the drugs in common things that you would find like shoes, candy and even wooden frames. many of those arrested were illegal immigrants living in the commonwealth. another drug bust to talk about. this one in laurel, maryland. hundreds of pounds of pot and lots of high-tech equipment. a former crime lab worker for the baltimore city police department is accused of operating a grow lab inside of his home. people would who walk their dogs behind the town home say they would always smell marijuana wafting over the fence at all hours of the day. live in prison for a man convicted of shooting an offer duty trooper. officer brown was working as a security guard at an applebee's restaurant in forestville when he was shot. president barack obama is making history by coming out and supporting gay marriage. but even though the president's opinion has evolved, some states across the country aren't ready to change. currently, 30 states including virginia have laws banning gay marriage. maryland is one of 18 states allowing civil unions or same- sex marriage. the human rights campaign groups are applauding the president for his comments but say he alone cannot change state laws. the president attended a big hollywood fundraiser last night. this was the ticket if you are a democrat. it was held at the l.a. home of actor george clooney. 150 guests shelled out $40,000 each to attend. some of of the names on the invite list include robert downey, jr., barbra streisand and toby mcgwire. safe to say those three can afford that 40 grand. the event expected to money story making headlines this morning as the largest bank in the united states admits it has tape a huge hit. >> j. p. morgan chase says it has lost $2 billion in just the last six weeks. how did own money has backfired n a phone interview, the ceo says the mishaps with a result of a series of bad decisions. >> in hyped sight, the new strategy was flawed, complex, poorly reviewed, poorly executed and poorly monitored. the portfolio has proven to be riskier, more volatile and less economical than the hedge that we thought. >> reporter: the $2 billion loss occurred over the past six endorsing the first drug that could block the hiv infection. truvada is already use as a treatment for people with aids. now, the panel is recommending the drug as a preventive measure for people at high risk of contracting aids. a final decision is expected june 15th. we are hearing about two cases of flesh-eating bacteria. one in georgia and one in maryland. the family of an 11-year-old girl from baltimore is mourning the death of bronte spencer. a week ago, she bumped her leg and the pain became unbearable. doctors say the rare bacteria attacked the site of wound and spread quickly through her body. the girl's grandmother still in disbelief. >> if your child says something hurts them, pay attention. i did but it was still too late. >> flesh eating bacteria can kill a child fox 5 on-timetraffic. raffic. our big story this morning, a multistate manhunt that lasted nearly two week is now over. the alleged tennessee family kidnapper is dead and the two girls are safe. police say adam mayes shot himself yesterday after he was surrounded by a s.w.a.t. team in mississippi. mayes was accused of killing the girl's mother and older sister in tennessee nearly two weeks ago so that he could abduct them. his mother-in-law says he thought the children were his daughters. >> when she came home approximately two years ago, she told me the reason they were arguing so much was because there was twoling girl that he was just absolutely obsessed with, he was claiming that those two children were his and my daughter said he'd live, sleep, eat and breathe nothing but these two children. >> thoseling girls are now at a hospital for observation. mayes' wife is already in jail on murder charges related to the case. mayes was added to the fbi's 10 most warranted list earlier this week because of this. also making headlines, police believe they have solved the murder mystery in maryland with an arrest in the death of a woman who was strangled inside her own home. 40-year-old jeer main livingston from northeast d.c. is charged with killing 32-year- old raquel israel in district heights last month. her family says a witness told them a gunman came into the apartment and argued with israel before killing her. police so far are not confirming that story. the sole survivor horrific crash at chevy chase circumstance until march is now suing the montgomery county police department. we'll have more on that in just a moment. the fbi busts an international drug trafficking conspiracy in northern virginia. for the last six years, agents say smugglers used dulles airport as a gateway to smuggle cocaine in from honduras. >> a massive operation. 28 suspects from all across northern virginia are now under arrest. plus, a marijuana bust in howard county is described as the biggest in recent memory. police charge manoj unni after finding pot worth half a million dollars in his home. president barack obama, as many of you know, making history, becoming
