something today. >> in joplin, missouri, the seam for survivors goes on but few are being found. every where you look, there is debris and as crews continue digging for it for the missing. state and federal officials are working together to try to account for everyone. an estimated 8000 buildings were destroyed in joplin. at least 125 people were killed overnight storms hit the atlanta area. commuters are now dodging down trees and wires. there were delays out of the atlanta airport. now to a story making news around the world. hill tri clinton is making a trip to pakistan joined by joint chief army mullin. the talks are tense. they also will tell pakistan that the funding is at risk. age in france, the lead world leaders pledged help to professors in the arab world. all the leaders came together with that obligatory class photo when all that's of state from the g-8 and g-20 posed together the house approved extending part of the patriots act. federal agencies will be able to search records. he has been able to sign the bill into law even though he is on a trip to europe. he has been using what's called an automatic pen. fox's john roberts explains. >> it has been a frustrating six months for erin lloyd. almost every day, she hits the laptop looking for work. >> i think it's just kind of lowering my self-confidence most of all. she spent five years in the navy as a national embarrassment programs but civilian employers worry about the liability of physical injury and emotional scars. donna bachler has both, an injured ankle and ptsd but this former drill sargeant is tough and strong and just wants to work. >> it's a little demoralizing, i will admit. it's the whole system in general that's kind of broken. >> veteran groups say there is a lot to be done. the v. a. needs to change with the dell grabs and it's beginning to. military certifications need to traps late into the civilian world and there is a bill in congress that would help do that but the biggest hurt will is convincing civilian employers to get them past the ser yo type that everyone returning from iraq or afghanistan is a ticking time bomb. the pentagon is surveying 80,000 employers trying to determine how the service of military members and the guard and reserve impact company. guard and recertify members make up about 50% of the military's total strength. sometimes, they must be away for an extended period. they are generally supported and they hope the surveys will help them sustain that sort federal workers meantime could lose an automatic yearly pay raise if they don't do their job better. the washing post is reporting that provision is part of a big cementing bill. it passed the house yesterday. any federal worker whose job performance is rated unacceptable will not get the annual across the board raise but there may not be that much cause forworry. the senate bill version may not include that clause. and coming up after 8:30, actress debbie attacked a man and shot his daughter, then made off with their camaro. the same suspects are also believed to be linked to a carjacking at the new killed ton metro station five days earlier. metro transit police say they are using all available resources to catch the carjackers. >> we deploy our personnel to the best of our ability, covering all the 86 stations. so we make it a concerted effort to put police officers out there where we can. metro's crime rate overall is down the first two months of the year but the crime in parking lots and garages is trending up if you are planning to ride metro over the holiday weekend, pack your patience. four stations on the blue and arrange lines will be closed tonight through tuesday morning. they are capitol south, eastern market, potomac avenue and stadium armory. shuttle buses will be set up to help commuters to get around but make sure to add at least 40 minutes a key republican lawmaker wants to sell amtrak's northeast corridor train service. putting the service up for bid could bring faster trains to the northeast, he says. the corridor runs from d.c. to boston. congressman john micah of florida is introducing the legislation in the house but it's likely to be rejected in the senate. the house passed a bill to delay the opening of the defense department's massive mark center office building along 395 in alexandria until new roads are ramps can be built. the improvements to take two years to complete. we all know d.c. has some of the worth traffic in the nation, right? in a new report, some d.c. drives some -- some d.c. but i feel like i know pause i have seen you on screen for so many years, not just on all my children but and other shows. we are happy to have you here >> thank you. you must be pretty excited about being chosen as the national spokesperson for saying our daughters? >> absolutely. this is something, particular issue that i feel so very, very passionate about that's an epidemic. that's an issue that crosses gender lines >> we are speaking about the issue of bullying. >> and teen suicide. >> uh-huh i just feel that because it's gone to some epidemic proportion, we have to do something. this is geared towards girls which i feel a particular connection with, because it's what i experienced as a teenager from about 13 to 16 years old. >> and thinks something that i was unaware of until recently that you yourself were bullied. you write this in the foreword to one of the books, saving our daughters. you want to tell us about that in >> one the ways that i got connected with this was that the author, curtis benjamin, had reached out to a lot of celebrities, janet jackson and maya angelou and asked them to write individual girls. when they sent it to me, i wrote something a little longer that they decided to use as a foreword of the book which i would like to read to you now: my teenage years were actually the lowest point of my life. sometimes, i just wanted to die. i began to have this constant fear whenever i had to go to school or whenever i knew i might come into contact with these bullies girls. now as an adult looking back, i would tell my teenage self and present this quote to all teen girls facing this trauma. it is your birth right to be treated with the dignity and self-respect. for whatever we fear ways we attract. what have we project and perceive is what's manifest in our lies. bullies are threatened by fearless confident girls. consider your birth right. dig deep. find that self-confidence and bullies be gone. you know, bullying has been around for a long time but i think in so many instances they sort of the pounce on people that they feel are weaker than they, they can have power and control overable that's what bullies tend to do. >> absolutely. i want to be someone that can help instill confidence in these young girls because i think when you have confidence, you have a whole other approach to these kinds of situations. you have the confidence to feel, you know what, i have to protect myself so i have to take the responsible path. i have to go to an adult, you know, let them know what's going on instead of feeling that they have to live in fear and constantly run and hide from these bullies. >> cleavery passionate about it and understandably so and hopefully that message gets across because it is all about self- esteem. >> quickly, i want to congratulate you on the emmy nomination on outstanding actress in a lead role. that's coming out in june. >> yes >> you previously won for supporting actress many years ago. it's thrilling to be up for this particular awar. >> we'll see what happens. two years ago, i was nominated for lead actress as well. this being the swan song for all my children, i might get lucky but it's sort of bitter swede, you know, because even though i'm over the move to have been nominated once again, it's going to be the end of an era for me, you know, portraying this beloved character. point. i was reading about you guys. you were the first to make mexican food product in our area in the greater washington area. >> we were the first. yeah, you were the first. the expectation at that time, people didn't know what to expect or didn't have anything that they for sure knew they wanted. but now mexican food is so popular. not only are you educating the consumers more but they are giving you feedbacks in terms of what they want? >> absolutely. >> that caused us to expand our line into prepared foods. we origin nowly started the orthopaedic la manufacture. that's all we did. now little by little, now, we are a large chip manufacturer. >> and i guess if your chips are good, you don't have to dip them in anything? you can just eat them. >> exactly. >> i think we might need to can't take them with them when they move. >> we got browpy about three years ago. he is six now. i'm not sure of his back story. he was wonderful. he was already house broken. it appears that my old dog may have taught him some bad tricks but a nice boy. i want to say thank you. you invited me to the bark off that i first to really became aware of all these dogs that need good homes. looking
