same-sex couples should get married. >> not long after the president made those comments at the white house, the republican presidential meanful mitt romney was asked about his vows during a campaign stop in oklahoma. >> i have the same view on marriage that i had when i was governor and that i have expressed many times. i believe marriage is a relationship between a man and a woman. >> it's a hot topic, facing a possible voter referendum in maryland in november and that is after state lawmakers passed and they legalized gay marriage. in north carolina last night, an overwhelming major of voters cast ballots banning same-sex marriage in the state that will host the democratic national conventions this summer. the district is planning a permanent memorial for the nine people killed in the 2009 metro crash. a battle is brewing over where to put it. the relatives of the victims can't see eye-to-eye with residents in northeast. >> reporter: that crash was the deadliest accident in metro history, 9 dead, 80 injuries and 12 children orphaned. the mayor promised to honor the victims and first responders, commissioning a plaque to be dedicated on the upcoming third anniversary and he's initiated planning for a memorial park and garden. who could ever forget this scene? for professors to figure it out. she said ship, jody and ship devon. is this your sister? we were like no, that is actually my mother and she literally had the most confused look on her face show had. she sat there and stared at us like and you're taking a class with her and sitting in the front row together? i couldn't get my kids to do that if i paid them a million dollars. >> reporter: even when devon was young, jody loved math and wanted her kids to love it, too. >> and i go can you bring an extra worksheet so i can do one, too? >> t to the fourth minus 7. >> reporter: jody has done a lot of growing in the 20 years from when she started college up until now when she's actually getting her degree. and she's crunched the numbers and said that it's never too late to go back to school. >> a and gox phillipe came to the u.s. and didn't know english, took him 12 years to complete his classes and while working the whole time. he's ready to graduate with honors. >> a lot of end on the radar. >> this is it. and there is a lot of rain on the tunnel and we'll show it to you here, folks, in just a moment. a live look outside and looked like it wanted to rain all day and the clouds thinned here and there and now, we're getting the finale and some showers moving on through and they may be able to detoss it. and perhaps you pick up a half an inch. we're going to call it light to moderate rain and there are imbedded spots heavier and this is what is kind of focusing it, the same front in the forecast the past few days and that is finally struggling through the area and that is inspiring, a few more showers and storms and there is a second one coming through and we're getting closer here. what we're showing is a couple of spots with imbedded moderate downpours and not much in the way of thunderstorms and they happening to the south and east. and these are moving slowly. can you see this inside the beltway here and around arlington and alexandrea. and the other thing you will notice about the showers as they're moving on through, in addition to dropping rain, they're dropping the temperatures. radar is going be busy tonight. there is a frontal system tonight slipping east of the city and behind it. especially across montgomery county and begin to see our temperatures dropping. let's move on to sentinel radar and can you see what we're watching here as we watch our showers and storms in motion and generalling moving to the east-northeast and i wanted you to see the line we're watching through the carolinas and into southeastern virginia. some much heavier rain to the south and east. the reason it's been warmer there and a bit more unstable, down in the regions, maybe you get a severe thunderstorm. for us, i think it's mostly the showers and i mentioned a second front. it's right here. that has to come through later tonight. and so we'll keep showers and storms, isolated storms only in the forecast the next few hours and talking about the temperatures dropping after the rain hits, d.c. is 72 and gaithersburg, 57. where we have had a moderate rain shower go on through. dulles is 61, up toward hagerstown, 62 degrees and a big contrast in temperatures and you're going to see them dropping when you get the moderate downpours. prepare for that and keep the umbrellas handy. the future cast will show us the downpours moving on through and look at this, by midnight, we're winding down as most of the heavier activity gets to the east. i know you're not going to believe this, the sun's going to be out tomorrow. we're going to have a drier day and this is going to be a windy day and cooler. upper 60s to low 70s and i really think that for the most part, it's the beginning of a real nice trend that takes us on into friday and sunshine's going to be with us for saturday as well. and most of sunday, too, and tomorrow, high pressure builds in behind the frontal system and that is the second front we have to weight through and we'll get a breeze out of this as the high pressure is building in and some 7 shine. i can't eliminate a spotty shower from the forecast and especially north along the mason-dixon line. evening showers and isolated storms south and east of d.c. we'll dry out overnight and if you have the windows wide open, you may want to lower them, dropping to 57 degrees overnight and tomorrow, we should get up to 70 degrees and notice the winds out of the northwest at 10 to 20 and at times gusting higher than that and that is noticeable. definitely a drop in the humidity, big time as the breezes pick up. it's 8:00 a.m., 59 degrees and sun. by noon, 67 with a breeze and by 5:00, about 68 degrees. and a rainy -- coming to an end here the next few hours and getting good rain between now and then. friday looks great at 73 degrees and still happy on saturday at 77 and a couple of showers late day, like after 6:00 and as late as 8:00 and the light showers and monday looks wet. >> all right, thank you, sue. >> sure. check three games to two and he's optimistic and won a championship, remember, with the blackhawks and said this has the locker room to continue and doesn't want to look ahead to winning the stanley cup but
