>> this is with the prevalence of the diseases and they're the animals that live close or on the bottom. >> reporter: it's possible that the 2010 oil spill from the deepwater horizon might be a factor and the work from the university of south florida is being funded by a $500 million grant set up by bp, part of the what the oil giant has to pay in competition -- competition. no one knows why they're getting sick. research seems to show an unusually sick looking fish live in the areas hardest hit by the spill. >> it occurs more bleakly -- locally up there than the florida coast, probably a good indication of it and there are some other factors and there is that large developed oil industry with pipelines and even if it's oil related, it may not be deepwater horizons. >> reporter: the fish don't appear to be a danger for human consumption. what is complicating the diagnosis or a link to the spill, not much is known about the normal rate of disease among fish. no one cataloged the rate of fish illness in the gulf. beth parker, fox 5 news. and you got your ring. are you happy? absolutely not. maybe a 10th of an inch of rain and a few spots, closer to a half an inch. .3 to frederick county and to interstate 81, about .2 of an inch of rain. we need more, no doubt about it and that is good for everything. today's weather pattern, though, you can see, is skewed to the west and to the south. and this is going to continue in the same pattern, but we're going to see the entire impulse off of the east coast and seeing the drying now and through ohio, western kentucky and to tennessee. a few more rounds of showers to the south and some temperatures are chilly, 54 degrees and typical in the middle of the march and with that 50 at gaithersburg, 52, frederick and dulles. we'll keep the showers, light showers through the overnight hours and the temperature of 50 and some upper 40s in the suburbs, not cold and feeling damp and rather raw. the early shower possible, and to the south of d.c., the sunshine is back and that is up to 71 degrees and for allergy sufferers, hopefully this is enough to get the pollen knocked out of the area. a spotty shower possible and by 5:00, calling it nice and with that temperature of 70 degrees. temperaturewise around the region tomorrow, and looks like we're headed to 70 degrees in many areas. 72 for gaithersburg; dills, 73; fredericksburg and culpeper, coming in with a high temperature of 74 degrees and i want to show you the future cast and that is on the pattern of the rain to the west. there is another impulse to come later tonight and i want to do that to 4 in the morning and some moderate downpours through tide water, virginia and to ocean ponds. the rain clipped southern maryland and we're back to the mild stuff tomorrow and on friday, looking dry. we get rid of the sunshine on friday and cloud up on saturday. there might be showers and rumbles of thunder saturday with the heavier potential on sunday, unless the storm coming goes off of the coast and that is a beach thing with the heavier rain. this is your five-day forecast. we're back to that 70 degrees tomorrow and 72 on friday. warm again for saturday. the rain potential could knock us down to 62 on sunday and we'll see how that shapes up for the weekend. >> all right. and 81 red skin not welcome at voluntary workouts. ry worko . first, a face not even a mother could love. nelson, the bird from germany, was called the ugliest in the world. when he grows up, it will turn into a swan. guys. come here, come here.
