the middle east and its unconditional support for israel. >> we may believe in the same issues. the way we deal with the issues is very different. he believed in fighting. we don't. my religion does not teach me to fight or to kill. >> partly because of al- awlaki's former ties to the mosque, the fbi had been keeping the place under surveillance. >> we weren't happy when we became aware of it. but at the same time, we are not threatened by it because we don't do anything wrong. >> al-awlaki had ties to a mosque in san diego where u.s. officials say he met and tutored a couple of the september 11 terrorist hijackers. one national security analyst tonight calls the war on al- qaeda the biggest u.s. foreign policy success of the past year. >> this was a drone attack, no ground troops involved here. >> that's right. unlike the killing of osama bin laden back in may. the u.s. had apparently been tracking al-awlaki for a few weeks and when it came time to strike, used a predator drone and fighter jet to make the kill. >> at least one republican presidential candidate is unhappy with al-awlaki's death. ron paul, who is known for his libertarian views says killing a person without a trial is the same as an assassination. he said we shouldn't accept the violence. even if they have ties to terrorism. also making news on the campaign trail, florida breaking the rules. hold the presidential primary. that means florida may be more influential in the 2012 race. other states, though, still want to be first in line. officials in iowa, new hampshire, and south carolina say they will probably change their dates now to stay ahead of florida. florida voters loved herman kaine in the straw poll last weekend and the latest fox news poll shows he is gaining more gop support. up 6% before last month's debate. rick perry's support dropped and mitt romney has the lead with 23%. newt gingrich at 11%, which puts him above ron paul and michele bachmann. filed a motion opposing expanded visits away from st. elizabeth's hospital. in its 13 page argument, prosecutors say he continues to be deceptive and caught in several lies. paul wagner with more on the service would not be notified in advance. a request prosecutors say would be denied. >> in its 13 page argument filed with the court this afternoon, prosecutors scold st. elizabeth's hospital for not keeping up with its recordkeeping, writing, the hospital appears to have stopped documenting the interviews that conducts with hinkley, and his siblings after every visit. moreover, the hospital was unable to produce notes from any staff member who may have attended those interviews. john hinkley was found not guilty by reason of insanity by the assassination of ronald reagan. he stopped reagan before opening fire with a .22 caliber handgun. reagan was wounded along with three others. he has been confined to st. elizabeth ever since with court approved visits to see his mother in williamsburg. prosecutors also say it is evident that hincley persists in behaviors that have been recognized as risk factors for hinckley's violence. enter we got a response from his attorney. there's not been a basis to fewell over two decades. the medical professionals believe that the release is in order and comports with the requirements of law. the government attorneys hardly medical professionals simply prey upon public phobias and presents no evidence of danger. the wife of harry reid is going through treatments for breast cancer. senator's office announced today reid has stage two breast cancer. she is receiving chemotherapy. she's expected to recover since doctors found the cancer early. she recovered from those injuries. reid has been married for 52 years. >> there's new investigators report that things aren't as clear cut as they seemed at first. we do know that 33-year-old patrick casey died tuesday after being on life support. he was an army vet that served in afghanistan. casey stopped at a mcdonald's on m street with friends and three men were already inside causing trouble. the police report says casey and his friend were leaving. there's a verbal confrontation and someone hit casey causing him to fall on his head. casey's parents claim casey was trying to break up that fight. police say that does not appear to be the case. >> mr. casey was not just sitting minding his own business. he was going around as it has been described to us so far interacting with other patrons, other than the people the final interaction was with. no one has characterized it as looking to pick a fight. he was just being irritating. >> casey's parents based on what they were told, there's no way that happened. police have talked to other people involved in the fight that night. prosecutors dropped one of the charges against the driver of that tour bus that crashed in virginia. back in may, killing four people. 37-year-old ken chung is facing four counts of involuntary manslaughter. prosecutors did not say whether they would drop the charge or why they did. court records show he admitted to police he fell asleep at the wheel. >> it's been a year since maryland banned drivers while behind the wheel. thousands of tickets have been handed out. according to records pulled by the associated press. more than 9,000 citations have been issued to drivers. a violation is a secondary offense and issued to drivers who were pulled over for another offense. a ban on reading, texts, and e- mails while driving takes effect tomorrow. >> want to feel close to own voice and her own laughter. wonder why so many people want to watch that. you know. well, it has been a tough call for you guys with all this rain and the weather pattern that has been stubborn and looks like it's sticking for the weekend. >> everybody else has to deal with it, too. it is positively soggy out there no matter where you go. and we have more weekend rain. this next little system, again, is just going to come right down here into the mid atlantic. the midwest is going to sit here this weekend. and there's some indications, i'll tell you this right now. there are some of the models that we look at that want to hold this storm system in for the next several days. most of them think after the weekend is going to get out of here. but there is a couple, we call those outliers, that think we can still be in the clouds and showers and cold temperatures through maybe tuesday, wednesday of next week. we're going to go with the forecast that suggests it gets out of here quicker. we start off with a look at the radar. that's our live radar. now here's i-95. west of i-95. at least for the evening hours, it's going to be dry. there's a chance for showers overnight tonight after midnight. but if you are east of i-95, charles county, that means you st. mary's county, that means you, too, and on up into the extreme eastern parts of prince georges county, anne arundel county, and jumping over the bay. that's where this line of showers still moving through. and notice it is drifting to the east. the individual cells are kind of moving up to the northeast. it's a slow mover. you jump the bay over here. there's a lot of lightning for southern maryland, moving over into southern delaware there. western delaware and eventually this will go across. our friends in ocean city that watch bethany beach, end up getting wet as well. temperatures out there right now, 71 here in town. gaithersburg 64. dropped off the last hour. frederick still at 66. hagerstown 64. right along i-95 for those communities, temperatures are dropping into the lower 60s. curcher cumberland into the 50s. the cold front is moving through and that is what is bringing in these colder temperatures and you go up to the north and northwest, pittsburgh is chilly, 52. detroit is 47. columbus is 50 degrees. this is the air mass for us tomorrow. now, we won't be in the lower 50s, or at least i hope not. if we are in the lower 50s, the forecast is going to be incorrect. it's going to be really, really crummy out there tomorrow. we should be upper 50s to lower 60s for the weekend. and that means tomorrow and sunday, there's a chance of showers tomorrow. it will be breezy, too. it's never going to feel much like 60 degrees and with the rain falling in places, it will be downright miserable if you are outside. sunday, i think a little bit more sunshine. we are still going to be chilly and showers even on sunday. this is future cast tonight at 10:00. line of showers and thunderstorms out to the shore. we watch this because this to the northwest is the storm system that is kind of moving in for the weekend and tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m., some showers for us. your eyes do not deceive you. this is snow out in the upper elevations. probably won't accumulate to much. above 3,000 feet, they could get wet snow mixing in with the rain. a drying period. but tomorrow evening at 5:00, we have a good chance of showers. widespread around the region. had a little bit better on sunday, but we have a lot of rain pin wheeling around this system. even on monday, we are still calling for clouds and a chance for showers. doesn't look like a lot of rain. for us, maybe a half an inch of rain accumulated. more towards the north and to the northwest. mostly cloudy overnight tonight. a few showers possible. here's what it looks like tomorrow. we start off in the low 50s. we'll warm up into the upper 50s. very little, if any sunshine tomorrow. passing showers will be the rule. and that is pretty much the same scenario on sunday. a little better on monday. but the storm system gets stuck, monday's weather goes downhill and we postpone the dryer weather to
