preventing it from get -- feeding into the system preventing it from getting stronger. it does still look like a category 1 storm or a little stronger as it makes landfall late tomorrow night. it's moving slowly northwest at 10, looks like it will come very close to new orleans, certainly along the louisiana/mississippi coast there late tomorrow night, early wednesday. most likely as a category 1 storm perhaps with winds up to 90 miles an hour, but they think it could continue to strengthen all the way right before it makes that landfall and then becomes a tropical storm. so again a big story is going to be the hurricane warnings that are up for the potential of a storm surge that could be 6 to 12 feet above sea level. that's for not only louisiana, but the mississippi coastline and a little bit of the florida panhandle. the hurricane warnings continue to nye there. that has not change -- fly there. that has not changed. the track has not changed and the big story will be not only a storm surge but freshwater flooding with rain falling between 6 to 12 inches and potentially more. we'll talk more about isaac and our own local forecast expecting a few showers later tonight. again isaac is still a tropical storm. in fact, right now it looks like isaac could hit new orleans near or on the seventh anniversary of hurricane katrina wednesday. this storm will not be as bad, but louisiana's governor says the state is still taking plenty of precautions. >> many areas there are mandatory evacuations for areas outside of the levees, south of the intracoastal and low lying areas expected to get hurricane level wind. >> the mayor of new orleans has not yet ordered an evacuation but does want people who live outside the levee system to leave. meantime the store has already changed plans in tampa at the republican national convention. it officially kicked off today with a very brief opening session. then the rest of the day was scrapped for safety reasons. fox's craig boswell joins us live from tampa. >> reporter: good evening. virtually all of today's schedule was canceled because of isaac, but republicans did manage to get one key bit of business accomplished. gop chairman reince priebus opened a shortened 2012 republican national convention with the opening of two debt clocks. one shows the rising national debt while the other shows the debt racking up while the convention takes place. >> this convention we also want to draw your attention to the unprecedented fiscal recklessness of the obama administration as depicted by the realtime national debt clock shown here in the arena. >> reporter: while romney and ann practiced their speeches at a high school in new hampshire his vice presidential pick got a sendoff from his high school maryland, police officers from all over the region gathered to honor a colleague killed in the line of duty. officer adrian morris' viewing was emotional, not just for the veterans but for young people who say they drew inspiration from the fallen officer. tom fitzgerald joins us now with the latest. >> a funeral service is scheduled tomorrow morning in mitchellville. police officers say they expect thousands of people to attend this, but tonight was a night to remember a young man for many who knew him say made a very big impression in the prince george's county police department in the very short time he had been on the force. a police escort brought the family of prince george's county officer adrian morris to his wake monday night. two lines of prince george's county police officers flanked the door of the ft. watts funeral home in beltsville as morris' relatives entered the building. >> these tragedies have fallen at our doorstep all too often. >> reporter: kevin davis says when thousands of officers gather at the funeral tuesday, they will keep one thing in mind. >> to reflect and celebrate the life and lives of these dedicated officers, but we also try to become better at what we do and in our profession. >> reporter: morris was killed in a car crash last monday while pursuing two robbery suspects. both are in jail. residents say officer morris th keep them safe. >> you feel for the family. we feel for each of them because they're still our family even though they're out here fighting for us every day. we're all family. in prince george's county when one is hurt, we're all hurt. >> reporter: in addition to officer morris' department law enforcement agencies from all over the area turned out in force. as many now know, officer morris was a young man, only 23 years old when he died, and if is a death that is particularly hard -- it is a death that is particularly hard hitting to manufacture the area police explorer -- many of the area police explorers who turned out to pay their respects. officer morris was a police explorer before becoming a police officer and continued to work as an advisor and mentor. many say he'll continue to serve now as a@. >> what it means to me -- as a symbol. >> what it means to me is it's part of the job. >> then again it's tragic. it's really bad news for everyone. >> reporter: and for officers who knew and worked with officer adrian morris, it is yet another example of how thin the thin blue line between life and death can be. the funeral services will be held tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. at the wood stream church in mitchellville. officer morris will be buried in davidsonville, maryland. tonight neighbors in frederick, maryland, are remembering a fallen soldier. hundreds came out to honor 24- year-old army sergeant david williams. he was killed in kandahar, afghanistan august 18th. sergeant williams deployed in april for the first time in his military career. his father, a retired army colonel. burial services are scheduled for thursday. two virginia mothers under arrest after a 2-year-old girl was found wandering naked in a convenience store parking lot today in front of white house road on spotsylvania. the child pointed out her home nearby. officers say there were several other children living inside the home in unsanitary conditions. crystal craig and amy lam are charged with felony child neglect. child protective services is investigating. a violent first day of high school in battle means extra police officers on campus in the morning. will thomas is everywhere at 11:00. >> a teenager was critically hurt in the shooting at perry hall high school. a 15-year-old student walked into the cafeteria, pulled out a gun and fired a shot at random. a 17-year-old student was hit. another shot went off when teachers grabbed the teen, but no one was hit by that bullet. police believe the teenager acted alone but are going to step up presence at the school tomorrow just in case. the next archbishop san diego has been arrested for dui. reverend salvador cordeleone was arrested after being stopped at a check point. he was selected by the pope to take over when the current archbishop retires this fall. the atlanta film studios of active director tyler perry caught fire for the second time in two months. there was a much bigger fire may 1st. the cause of both fires are still under investigation. olympic champion gabby douglas says she was bullied in virginia, why she almost quit gymnastics and how her former gym is responding to those allegations coming out. >> we should get by by the skin of our teeth. you may see a five to six cent spike but only for four or five days and by the time labor day rolls around here the storm will be gone. prices will return to normalcy in a year that's known for anything but normalcy. >> keep our fingers crossed. tropical storm isaac has forced several major refineries along the gulf coast to halt production. >> we've been focused on isaac for a while here, especially the hit there along the gulf coast. any new information? >> i would think the good news tonight is it has not become a hurricane yet, but unfortunately it's still expected to strengthen a little more before making landfall. it will get bad tomorrow, probably ashore by tomorrow night. so that's the very latest thinking. we'll show you the satellite imagery as well. we're glad it's not a katrina size storm. katrina was a category 3 when it came ashore. this 1 will probably be a 1, but it's so big it will still pack a punch, although they've spent a lot of money getting those levees straight bd out. hopefully new orleans will get -- straightened out. hopefully new orleans will get through this just fine. here's the latest imagery. we thought it was trying to get a little center going tonight and indicate it was stronger, but the hurricane currents are in there and say it has not gotten stronger, still winds 70 miles per hour. now how it's not symmetrical. there's a lot of dry air to the north of it which is preventing it from getting a little stronger but still forecast to be a hurricane by morning and coming into new orleans tomorrow night as a hurricane as well. it's got huge circulation, tropical storm force winds going out about 205 miles from the center. that's why we saw east florida getting so much rain today. we can expect there will be a lot of rain for new orleans, mississippi and alabama in the yellow area here on the order of 6 to 12 inches or more in the next several days. that very heavy rain will go all the way up the mississippi river valley. they're kind of glad because you all know how low the mississippi is, but here is our storm circulating. look what the this outer band did here, producing all -- what this outer band did here, producing all the heavy rain. the heavier rains will hit new orleans later tonight and foam and some of the bands are as far -- top and some of the bands are as far -- tomorrow and some of the bands are as far north as north carolina. it will slide through the first half of tomorrow, so maybe we'll get back to less humid air. it's real humid now and 79 degrees. it's going to be mild overnight, a camisias around especially closer to sunrise -- a couple showers around especially closer to sunrise. hopefully things are shut off by recess because teachers tell me kids really need recess by the second day of school. morning showers but a drier afternoon. the west to northwest wind will start to bring down the humidity a bit. so that will be nice. temperatures tomorrow close to 90. we'll really feel that, again a shower maybe in the morning, 87 degrees for actually gaithersburg as well as dulles and manassas. so a little steamy in the morning and then that humidity drops going through the afternoon. you can see it's not much in the way of showers, probably pretty light stuff, no repeat of sunday. again we watch our tropical system which will probably be hurricane isaac by tomorrow morning making landfall and spreading very heavy rain through the southeast, still too early to tell whether or not it will affect us, but if it did, it might be late next weekend just to give you some idea. otherwise we're looking at a great stretch of days, a little warm, especially into friday 91 degrees, sun and clouds the first part of our labor day weekend saturday of the that's it for the five-day forecast, but dave ross tells us they've been pretty busy at redskins park. here's his sports report. >> reporter: this is the -- this is
