royally screws up and in this case commits crimes, it's easy to find the people who are very critical. what's not so easy, to find people who believe in them no matter what. jack johnson will lose his freedom tomorrow, but when we spoke with some of his neighbors tonight in mitchellville, it was clear they still have his back. >> i'd be trying to spend as much time with my loved ones if that makes sense. >> reporter: ruby king not only lives across the street from the johnsons, their families have been very close for 23 years. >> we spent a lot of time with jack and leslie and the children. we vacationed with them and they've been there for us when we needed. >> reporter: jack johnson is sentenced tuesday and faces up to 14 years for corruption and obstruction of justice. >> i have 24 days. >> reporter: 24 days before his term as prince george's county executive came to an end. the fbi secretly videotaped johnson at a laurel developer -- and a laurel developer who already pled guilty for his role in the corruption scheme. prosecutors say this is just one example that shows johnson taking a cash bribe. >> oh, okay, okay. thank you. ank you. >> you can see him flip through the cash. in another instance the same day johnson talks about possible prosecution. >> i've got a lot of legal enemies and necessity called various prosecutors and, you know, prosecutors -- they called various prosecutors and, you know, prosecutors always want to try to, especially minors, they like to try to put them in jail and if one of the prosecutors, you know, are able to bring somebody like me down, they brag their whole career. i prosecuted jack johnson. >> the whole has been cut short. >> i feel sorry for the family. >> reporter: clarence payne is another neighbor of the johnsons. he hasn't seen them around for days. >> when you're in a position like that, sometimes it can be tempting, you know, the money. i mean we're all human. >> reporter: the prosecution also released audiotapes. they want to convince the court to throw the book at jack and leslie johnson because they say his wife knew exactly what was going on. here's a portion of the fbi wiretap on their phones the day agents showed up at their house. >> what do you want me to do with this money? they are banging. what do you want me to do? >> put it in europeans and walk out of the house. -- europeans and walk out of the house. >> jack -- your panties and walk out of house. >> jack johnson is sentenced at 9:00 in the morning and leslie johnson is sentenced three days later and could get up to 18 months. >> one of the video clips jack johnson is seen taking money for prince george's hospital center business. >> prosecutors believe jack johnson was making a deal with the hospital official unnamed. i'll help you get a job to run the hospital. you give me a big consulting position with the hospital when i leave office. in fact, it's all outlined in this 75-page document prepared by prosecutors. it's very clear they want the judge to thrown the book at him tomorrow. >> will thomas tonight. his job status up in the air, the head of the faa on leave after being arrested over the weekend for allegedly driving drunk. fairfax city police officer pulled randy babbitt over saturday night when he saw him driving on the wrong side of the road. police say after babbitt was pulled over he took a field sobriety test and was arrested for dwi. a fox 5 weather alert talking snow in the forecast for the week and sue has got some new information at this hour. >> just looking at some of the new models and we're still green lighted for potential snow wednesday night into thursday morning. we've got timing in our favor. it snowed back on october 29th during the day and nothing stuck. this potential snow would come through in the overnight hours certainly well after dark wednesday and likely after midnight. we'll have to keep an eye on it. rain will be the first thing we see. it's certainly very mild. get ready for a wet day on the light side, still very mild, but then we get colder and that colder air is coming into town on wednesday. speaking of the mild stuff, it's actually gone up 1 degree since 10:00. it is 57 degrees here in d.c., but you can see there's a lot of cold air on the map. that's going to be oozing in our direction and it will arrive during the day wednesday and continuing on wednesday night. so we're giving you an early heads up. it's definitely going to feel a lot more like winter by midweek and beyond and yes, maybe even a bit of snow mixed in at that from the signs i'm seeing tonight, very good model agreement, but it looks like this rain could potentially end as snow wednesday night with just enough cold air to potentially impact our thursday morning commute converged on the national mall tonight preparing for several days of protest. their mission? take back the capitol. fox 5's wisdom martin live on the mall now with details. >> reporter: they're calling this area the people's camp where they set up and organize. they're preparing for a big day tomorrow as they plan to march to the capitol and k street. it's been a very busy day for them. they're calling this movement our d.c. and what they're doing is planning to march to the capitol and they're going to tell the elected leaders what they want them to do and that is to represent the 99% of the people and not the richest 1% of the people. a short time ago we heard some entertainment out here as well from an r and b singer. here is what had he to say along with one of the protesters about why they're here and what they're trying to do. >> i'm just out here trying to support the 99%, you know, and those in need of jobs, the unemployed. of. >> people still have belief and hope in -- unemployed. >> people still have belief in themselves and in hope in one another. this is really about the human race making a decision we're going to vow for ourselves, that our representatives have forgotten what's important, we're going to remind them. >> reporter: we've seen a lot of video of problems with protesters and police, protesters being arrested during some of these movements. i asked some of the organizers of this particular movement about that and they said that's not their objective here. they don't plan for any of their people to get arrested. they say this is all about jobs and they want to take their message to the elected leaders. they don't want to get arrested. a traffic alert, route 301 in bowie is shut down after a tanker truck carrying 9,000 gallons of gasoline crashed and overturned. it happened near route 450. the gasoline is leaking. several other cars were involved, no word of injuries, but the area is shut down for clean-up. you'll change. the u.s. postal service needs to save $20 billion to keep afloat. that means some next day delivery could be going away. fox 5 money reporter melanie alnwick has the breakdown on the proposed changes. >> reporter: getting packages and letters delivered in a matter of days, it's a service many customers find great value in. >> it's been wonderfully convenient to have one day mail delivery. >> reporter: speed is a luxury the post office can no longer afford said david williams, vice president of network operations. >> customers are choosing speed as they choose electronic alternatives. they're choosing electronic bill payment. they're choosing electronic communications via the internet and e-mail, things like that. >> reporter: that means it may take your letters and packages a little longer to get to their destination. if i mail a bill today in any of these blue collections boxes like this one here in washington d.c., it should be delivered the very next day within a 90-mile radius and in two days within a 12-hour drive time. usps wants to eliminate next day delivery for first class mail, shrink that two-day delivery to just a four-hour drive radius and make everything else three-day delivery. >> the fact of the matter is our network is too big. we've got more capacity in our network than we can afford. >> i'm concerned about the carriers. they need their jobs and i'm afraid some of those carriers might lose their time. >> reporter: eliminating that next day delivery will mean 28,000 job cuts. usps would close 261 processing centers and make more efficient use of those that are left saving more than $2 billion a year. >> you just can't sit back and wait. you've got to act on these things. we've got to go $20 billion. we're going to do that to keep ourselves financially healthy. >> reporter: priority and express mail are not changing and commercial customers are being given options to help expedite bulk mail. postmaster donahue says he doesn't want a bailout. >> we don't take tax money. we don't want any tax money. >> reporter: just the ability to downsize the way any shrinking business, would melanie alnwick, fox 5 news. >> the service filed its proposal with the postal regulatory commission today. if approved, the soonest it would take effect is next april. by then we might finally be thawing out around here. >> but we don't have a lot to complain about. we had such a mile november and the first -- mild knife and the first part of december, too -- mild november and the first part of december, too. this cold doesn't seem like it's going to hang out forever. you will notice it when it comes into town. tonight you may notice how warm it is. it is a degree warmer than it was at 10:00. most places are still very close to 60 degrees across the region. it feels like it wants to rain and if you step out, maybe there will be a sprinkle two. our first stop tonight will be sentinel radar. you can see our showers beginning to grow a little out to our west and these will fill in going through the overnight hours. by no means are we talking about heavy rain tomorrow, light showers off and on throughout the day, perhaps a bit steadier in the afternoon and into the evening, but then this continues into wednesday, too and it looks to me like wednesday is going to beer with the than tuesday. certainly wednesday night could be interest -- be wetter than tuesday. certainly wednesday night could be interesting. we have our showers to the west getting closer, not quite close enough yet. to get far enough to the west there's enough cold air we're seeing light showers change to snow showers and that continues down into oklahoma where we're getting a few inches of fresh snow. now we put the map in perspective for you for tomorrow so you have an idea what we're talking about. get ready for another warm day, 60s for tomorrow, low 60s at that probably warmer than today was. here's what's going to be the game changer. off to our west we have a stationary front. that will swing through late tomorrow night and the first part of wednesday and temperatures will drop as we go through the day wednesday while the rain continues as a wave of low pressure rides along this front. lighter showers tomorrow, but here comes the colder stuff. that begins to trickle in wednesday and we start seeing this rain change over to snow first to the west, but our question now is how far east is that going to get? some indication that the rain/snow line could even get all the way to d.c. that would be mostly while you sleep wednesday night into thursday morning, but good news, it's a fast hitter, but definitely the first significant chance of snow in terms of at least seeing something since october 29th, which was a really early appearance for the snow. today's high temperature 60. we got up to 90 degrees at dulles, 57 at bwi and they're still there, d.c. still 57 and manassas and fredericksburg, places like that in the upper 50s and low 60s. bottom line, a mild night for us. we have to get all the way out to western ohio find the first signs of colder air, detroit coming in at 34, chicago 36, but most of the east still very mild and we'll squeeze out one more really warm day like that. for tonight spot giordano showers, mild for december, our low only -- spotty showers, mile for december, our low only 52 degrees. tomorrow light showers throughout the day, steadier in the afternoon and warm for december, 62 degrees. a warm southwest wind 10 to 15 miles an sure will continue to keep the warm temperatures coming in our direction. light rain at 8:00, by noon 61 with more light showers. by 4:00 60 degrees and we'll see those showers continuing on. at 7 a.m. expect some rain. 5:00 a little bit more, perhaps a bit of a break, but we go through wednesday morning and maybe more moderate showers. that continues into wednesday afternoon. of course, it's wednesday night we'll watch to see how much of that could potentially change over to snow. at least some potential for that and the models beginning to agree on that. 40s the rest of the week. it will feel a lot more like december. come on
