Some spots up to two feet and Higher Elevations more than that and light look at the storm system. Earlier in the day, this was sneak farther off the coast and which is good. Its going to keep the heaviest snow away from places like manhattan and long island and theyre going to get plenty of snow there and earlier in the day, they had basically a mix of some rain for new york city and long island. Right now, it looks like its all snow for manhattan, kind of a mixture along long island and some snow as well. And in terms the whole night is going to be for the heaviest snowfall and that is looks like the eastern section of connecticut and through rhode island. I think providence might be the place that gets the majority of the snow here and that does not mean theyre not going to have blizzard conditions and they dont have going to do with the snow but everything to do with sustained winds of 35 Miles Per Hour for a few hours there and reduced visibility. Bulls eye from this particular noreaster would be providence and into the western suburbs of boston and that is how its looks now. Were in foxboro, massachusetts, about 20 minutes south of boston and this is one of those areas where north of province is in that swath and is looking at two feet. The significant snow and the governor issued an executive order, as you mentioned awhile ago, banning people from the roads. That happened at 4 00 this afternoon and in my time reporting here, which is about eight, nine years, i have never seen that before and were told that that might be to the blizzard of 78, which everyone remembers here. A power outage that knocked out service to thousands of people in Prince Georges County and parts of the district is being blamed on a downed tree. It caused a transformer to overload leading to evacuations. Fox 5s Tom Fitzgerald is live on the scene. Tom, what is the latest. Is the power back on . Reporter well, we have go need you to tell you about, shawn. We got off of the phone a few moments ago with bob from pepco. He told us most, if not, all of the people who lost power in this this afternoon have now been restored and those who have should be back online fairly soon. And the bottom line on all of this is that it was a tree to thaknocked out four substations and that knocked out four substations and what happened calls for a long afternoon in parts of northeast and southeast, and parts of port georges county. At the Addison PlazaShopping Center, it was close to 12 30 when the power suddenly cut out. Yeah, i smelled it. What did it smell like . Something burning. Reporter friday afternoon, a tree in a wooded area fell. That tree, it turns out, fell on the transformer lines which in turn supply electricity to four substations. Once they went offline, the Power Outages began to spread across the range. Soon as many as 50,000 people in Prince Georges County and the district lost power. Nobody had power. So we didnt know what was happen. We knew that everything was out. Reporter no power was part of the problem. Prince georges county fire and ems were called to the Addison Plaza. The reason, residents say the area and store owners began hearing strange sounds. Smelt burnt electrical odors coming to the plazas main transformer. The transformer was acting in an unusual manner. It may have had something to do with a generator and one of the storms back feeding and were not sure. Reporter pepco and fire Officials Say the problem resolved itself as soon as the power came back on and midrod it caused power outage but affected the stations operations like escalators and light and had no affect on rail service. The metro crews were seen double check the facilities after the power returned. I dont know. I didnt know what was going on. Reporter Prince Georges CountyOfficials Say as a precautionary measure, 20 houses near the Addison PlazaShopping Center were evacuated while the transformer was malfunctioning. The residents have new returned to their homes. Getting to the downed tree and this downed line that knocked out the substations was no easy job. Pepco tells us that this was in the woods in oxen hill and crew his to use suvs and have the equipment to get into that area. She began giggling and the judge doubled her bail and then she gave the judge the middle finger and he sentenced her to 30 days in jail for contempt of court. The teenager appeared before the same judge again, this time to apologize for her acts. My behavior was very irrational and i apologize not only to the court and you, but to my family. The judge said soto was a firsttime offender who admitted her adiction. He dropped the 30day sentence and said she will attend a 30 day treatment program. A principal in cincinnati is getting the last laugh, sort of. After canceling the prom over a school prank. The principal made the decision when a water balloon fight broke out during the lunch. The principal said the staff found out, tried to prevent it and warned students that she would cancel the prom.
