The president wants to create a special new visa specifically for Illegal Immigrants that would allow them to stay in the country while they wait for permanent legal status, even those with criminal records would be welcome so long as they havent been convicted of three crimes or spent more than a year in prison. It appears to be a long way from the bipartisan plan that is slowly taking shape on capitol hill. Leaks dont happen in washington by accident. This raises the question that many of us continue to wonder about. Does the president really want a result or does he want another chance to beat up republicans to get political advantage in the next election . Senator john mccain said today even though he does not think hagel is qualified, he should be confirmed because enough time has been allowed for questions. In all seven people inside a home on 33rd street were taken to a hospital after the house caught fire around 3 00 this morning. Two children were injured. One was unconscious when firefighters pulled her to safety and performed cpr. The homeowner has been arrested and faces simple assault and felony threat charges. Neighbors describe the scene as chaotic. Maybe around 2 30, 3 00 a heard a lot of banging and around 3 00 i started to see the fire trucks and they were sawing on the roof trying to get the roof open breaking all the windows. The fire happened right behind mayor grays house. His security detail was the first to call for help. Officials are still investigating the cause of the fire whether it was suspicious or accidental. The chairman of the Council PublicSafety Committee says he is going to introduce emergency legislation to give mayor gray the power to shut down any businesses selling stolen cell phones. A week ago during a crime briefing with police tommy wells tweeted two d. C. Game stop stores were found to have hundreds of used cell phones. He says crooks are cashing in and several stores are supporting crime against residents. We have a number of local businesses that have participated in giving cash for stolen phones and so its not just one store. Its a number of stores. Police chief lanier says locations have been discussed where people can sell used cell phones and game stop is one of those locations. She added the metropolitan Police Department works closely with local businesses to make sure they are not unknowingly purchasing stolen items. The edge on maryland, police are searching for three suspects wanted for stabbing a university of maryland Eastern Shore student overnight. Edmond st. Clair was approached while sitting in his car. An altercation ensued. Things got out of hand and the student was fatally stabbed. Police say this was not a random incident. Tragic news out of the Country Music world. Singer Mindy Mccready was found dead in her arkansas home tonight. A close family friend said the country star shot herself in the head. Mccready who had a public struggle with Substance Abuse and Mental Illness was committed to a Treatment Facility earlier this month. It came two weeks after the death of her boyfriend david wilson who is the father of her youngest child. Mindy mccready was 37 years old. In rhode island hundreds attended a Memorial Service to remember victims of the 2003 nightclub fire. Wednesday marks the 10th anniversary of the deadly fire that broke out when pyrotechnics for the rock band great white ignited flammable foam installed inside the club as soundproofing. The blaze killed 100 people.
