All started last week we had shootings offalton shooting in castile that led to black lives protest rallies and thursday night i was watching Live Television of the dallas protests and what began to unfolded horrific nightmare which is now reality what turned out to be five Police Officers killed, seven wounded, two other civilians hurt and by a loan shooter veteran of war in afghanistan that said that he wanted to kill white people and you know, certainly in no by no means representative force of black lives Matter Movement and taking place at that rally in dallas and then the president we have some sound i thinwe off with his efforts to really make sense of what has become an unthinkable normal in this country referencing so many of these past tragedies that we have had to witness and see. So, lets listen to the president before we get starte started. As painful as this week has been i firmly believe that america was not as divided as some suggested. We cannot let the actions of a few define all of us the dim entered individual that carried out attacks in dallas hes no more representative of African Americans than shootner charleston was representative of white americans or the shooter in orlando or san representative of muslim americans. Bob, what are the what changes now in this debate that we have seen gone in this city which all of the other ones orlando, republicans and democrats argued over what it meant and what they would do about it and over san bernadine owe republicans argued and went back and forth and go back to sachbdy hook. How does this change anything or are we in more more of the same. I think honestly were in for more of the same. Were in a polarizeing time. After 9 11 parties came together republicans and democrats. Theyre not different and thats why black lives movement will con ten and next president will have to deal with police and African Americans and we really dont you look at Hillary Clinton and donald trump and the country is looking for uniter. Neeminger one is uniter. We showed what the president had to say nato. Before dallas, he gave a statement after the shootings of alton sterling and philando castile. He said African Americans were shot by police at more than twice the rate of white and African Americans were arrested twice more than white and he goes on in this statement before the dallas shootings outlining what he sees are problems with the criminal Justice System and specifically how African Americans reason treated differently by the criminal Justice System in this country as opposed to how white treated. Did the president , though, nobody is accusing i dont think anybody is accusing president of having any connection to what happened in dallas, that would be crazy. But does the president have a tendency sometimes when these horrible things happen to go too far in laying out what he sees is the case or underlyings of this before we have all the facts and what took place and doesnt take place. Hes in a tough spot because you have to have investigations and you want to hear from commander in chief and with social media now we have everything on tape now. And it makes it so much more powerful. So i think hes in a tough position s there have been times hes come out and said things before an investigation as concluded and that puts investigators in a difficult spot. Thats a great point, bob. Lets take a minute the interesting things here the event on trail after this. One of the things i noticed this week and this is just my observation i did not feel that the American People looked to or expected much from the candidates in terms of any sort of solution. I think theres a frustration i think theres a feeling of who can fix this and solve the problem and going to clinton and trump and do i not feel in any way it would necessarily calm or make the American People feel sense of unity and leadership me need and in part i dont think anyone knows what to do or say inmore take a listen. With so Little Common grounds it can feel impassable to have the conversations we need to have. To begin fixing whats broken. We owe our children better than th and love and unity and leade leadership. When you hear those words you i think back to one of the things i thought back after this weeks tragic events i thought about recent filibuster and intent have this filibuster knowing none of the bills would pass. Not making a statement or decision on whether or not they should or whether or not its right things to do but looking back on people saying im frustrated and law maker and will make something change when really smz sometimes you think are you making a name for you yourself or staying grounded in this bipartisan system we live in today that anything to get done. And horrible and sad time and as we go into this president ial race we can only hope for two candidates to come forward and demonstrate level of leadership and ability to confront the issues that we face everybody agrees its sad and terrible and question is what are they going to do . And what i was struck by is the similarity in Hillary Clintons comments on this and Donald Trumps somewhere in the back of your head were you not waiting for donald trump to Say Something horrible and he didnt. He did not. He did not. I dont think thats a fair dmopt say waiting to hear from something horrible i think donald trump has pivoted to be a more president ial candidate. Everybody those their hands in the arm. After orlando. Me measured himself well this week in the remarks he made and exact same tone that was struck by Hillary Clinton khxt almost in a way concerns me. It tells me neither one of them really have an answer to this and i dont know who does. Lets talk about the clinton announcement this week by fbi director comey said there will nobody charges in Hillary Clinton investigation which has going on since late 70s at this point i think and he had these rocks to say in regards to announcing this and then there was another how do you do up on the hill. Lets listen to what james comey had to say this week. We found no evidence that any additional work related emails were intention alley deleted in an effort to conceal them in some way. Our assessment is that like many email users secretary clinton periodically deleted emails or think were purged from her system when devices changed. We did not find clear evidence that secretary clip colleagues intended to violate laws handling classified information and there is evidence they were extremely careless in their handling of very sensitive, highly classified information. Reps will talk about this for a while comey said theyre careless not criminal. I think this is something that has been hanging over the clinton campaign. It was a good week for them. But at the same time shes going to have to address this. She d she has not given a press conference in more than 215 why not charged this is mystery of this thing. Two things i thought were remarkable about this week number one, i think fbi and director comey in particular may have done more damage to Hillary Clinton in that press conference he gave announcing new charges than actually had he indicted her and she may have had a day in court to exxon rate herself. And the second thing is republicans need to start getting message that when you lose dont grab a spotlight and shine it on yourself. They spend an hour questioning comey the other day. One point one of the congres congressmen says im not a lawyer but i think you have a good case here and comey says im a lawyer and ill tell you we dont have a case. Warren doesnt have Foreign Policy experience. Hillary clinton has been expressing experience you have to have a number two with experience and cane has that and maybe as cain has himself boring pick. Were getting into Clinton Administration being olive branch fo to these wings of party. Yes. You can see like what obama did with clinton. Shell pick a fair amount of senators in administration should she win. But, at the same time war sent interested in this position. Thats clear. For Republican NationalConvention Im definitely expecting to see bobby knight. Indiana basketball coach. He was big help to donald trump in winning indiana. And then for democratic cop vengs i cannot imagine we wont see katy perry. Every time there we go that was music i wanted to hear every time Hillary Clinton takes the stage we hear katy perry music thats a definite one to expect at the conventio conventions. Bobby knight would be great at the end of the convention to put the chairs away. Walk around and put the chairs back in the rack. He would be great for that. And remember the 2012 convention i liked to see bobby knight there because what was leading thing at the conventio convention, Clint Eastwood and chair. You keep that theme going. In cleveland last week i went to the q where the convention this is a copy of cleveland magazine with this not so flattering picture of donald trum here but theres a very useful article here in that it tells cleveland theres how to talk to famous people. Like bob cue zach. If you met him in the street how would you talk to him. Is he regular guy you could say hi to him. Cleveland magazine has everything you need to know. Bob say man of people. If you see me in cleveland. Youre very intimidating. And a person i would like to see is brian canston. He did lbj and he was incredible. I would like to see him dressed at lbj and he became him and that was one of the most stunning president ial performances ive seen. He was fantastic. This Trump Convention will be unbelievable and up predictable and that will be a great things or bad thing. I can tell you have not been there theres a buzz in that city but its a busy did not feel in chicago, in feel in chicago, in you know 96 or in philadelphia for the republican convention. There was unease in cleveland right now. They wanted this con veption. Its good for the city. Theyre very concerned about whats about to happen next week especially with the air of protest in this country right now and police and security have been ratcheted of up theyre welcoming the convention but concern very deeply about the kong vengs. Do you think cleveland is ready. They are about as ready as theyre going to get. I think after the event of dallas they have ramped up what they originally planned and there was a very big security concern about this convention now and theyre taking all this seriously.
