knocked out power to more than a million homes up and down the east coast. in many big apple it is the first prehalloween snowfall in almost 60 yearcausing travel chaos at the three major airports. >> know it snowed except for icy patches on bridges, icy be careful, a lot of fog in parts of west virginia, that is an area where some of that snow that did stick around on the ground, did not leave too not strength that is why he is backing off after making a fuss this week he is signed for the next 5. >> he rolled out his flat tax plan what can you tell us about this. >> well, we will be talking to him in great depth it is a kind of modified flat tax what he is saying to people i am going give you a choice if you thing you can do better under the current system stay in the current system with all of the deductions and credits and all those things on the other hand if you would prefer a flat tax, this would primarily involve people in upper incomes, who pay a higher income rate, they can go for the flat tax, 20%, but then they loose a lot of deductions so people will make a choice one of the concerns about that, obviously you are not going to voluntarily pay more taxes a lot of people will have to figure out taxes twice once the old system once new, see which way they do better and pay that, the question is, isn't that going to mean less revenue from the government. won't that mean less reeve knew for the government because -- revenue for the government because people will pay less. >> one thing it seems like the perry campaign he is getting mired in controversy, mormon comments, birth comments, what are his strengths still? >> well, his biggest strength he has money you know, some body said that is the mothers milk of politics if you don't have money you can't get your message out, can't hire a top staff, he has got money and enough money to compete into at least iowa and new hampshire he has great strength as a retail politician maybe not so great in debates, but very attractive candidate and strong conservative record one other thing establishment front runner, mitt romney you just see there is a new iowa poll out showing cain and romney, 23% cain, 22% romney a lot of people still, have conservatives about mitt romney they don't have doubts at least on his conservative record about rick perry that is an advantage he can say i am a true conservative shortly in the 9:00 a.m. hour that is where most of our viewing area, heading back to the sunshine hopefully no more snow for awhile as we move through the rest of the month and november. slow warm up ahead in our five day forecast and slight chance to see early weak showers we are keeping a close eye on that as well. meantime, across our area, here is a look at some of those totals, 9 inches frost burg, damascus, over 3 inches and over is 1 inches, areas in the -- 11 inches, areas in the mountains a lot more, over 14 inches in mount storm which is in grant county, now most of the area is close to dc, mainly inner city areas, metroplex we saw mainly, from a trace to an inch or two areas north a little more than that, a band of area got 3 to 5 inches and went up from there as we move furtherer west, 42 degrees our high yesterday national airport, 39 dulles, 42 baltimore, these temperatures, 21 to 25 degrees cooler than they should have been we should be low 50s. didn't hit that, yesterday at national was the coldst day since march 31st, this is not right, definitely not 786 actual -- 76, actually 37 degrees, 34 baltimore, 35 annapolis, hagerstown, 27 degrees, 29 martins burg as we head up the mid-atlantic they are in the thick of the freeze too. 37 boston, 34 degrees in new york city, so the cold air definitely encompassing just about all of the east coast this freeze warning will expire, by 9:00 a.m. this morning and it started midnight last night so skies here, just a few clouds getting clearing trend nice ridge of high pressure building in and we've got -- that is going to stick around into the course of the next day, low pressure system going to form off the carolina coast a short wave moving in from the west, that could set us up for a slight chance of shower into monday evening trick or treaters will be out there and don't want to hear that keep your eyes to the skies. no shortage of sunshine 45 degrees, noon hour and we are warming up only to a high of 49 into the course of the day here is a look at the 5 day forecast for you, temperatures gradually on the rise, 60 by end of the week but once again a close eye on that slight chance right now
