And metro is probably really the best way to check out those Cherry Blossoms today. The National Cherry blossom festival officially kicking off and this weekend blossoms are expected to reach peak bloom and alex is standing by along the tidal basin there looking extra beautiful this morning with the Cherry Blossoms behind you. Good morning to you. Reporter hey, annie, good morning. It sure is beautiful out here. You said it, it is peak bloom weekend but you know, these arent the fullest Cherry Blossom trees weve ever seen. You can see along with the blooms there are a lot of damaged blossoms. Thats because of the rocky march we had weatherwise, the frost definitely affected some of these blossoms which is why were not seeing the full blossoms were used to but that is not stopping anyone from coming down here to the tidal b weve seen so many families and couples, puppies, everyones down here and a lot of them, of course, are doing photo shoots kind of like these lovely people from maryland. How is it going. Good. How are you. Reporter so, let me ask you, youre braving the crowds even though youre a local. Why . We just wanted to get some really good sunset sunrise shots with our camera here. Reporter okay, so you said youre a hobby photographer but, man, this is one intense camera. Look at that lens. If people are planning to come down themselves maybe people like me who have cameras and have no clue what theyre doing with them any good easy tips for people. What do you mean with just like a regular iphone photo. Reporter no, with the camera, we were talking about the weather and the clouds and all that being good for photos, right. Yeah, with the sun behind the clouds actually makes more of a better contrast in your photos so you dont have like too much light in your pictes blurring them out or kind of washing everythin out is the problem right. Yeah, the light is is a little softer. Reporter perfect weather for these photographers. We have certainly 15 a lot of certainly seen a lotof them dow. Thanks for talking to us. Not a lot of track work on the metro. If people are planning to head down here for the Opening Ceremony which happens tonight at 5 00 p. M. Metro is probably your best option. Well, march is myeloma Awareness Month and multiple myeloma is the second most common blood cancer. Here to talk about this type of cancer and efforts to raise more awareness about the disease is tracy orwick from the leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Good morning to the both of you. Good morning. Thank you so much for joining us. Tracy lets start talk month are about for those who arent familiar about this type of blood cancer. Can you tell us more about it, who it affects and what lls is doing. Sure. Myeloma as you mentioned is the second most common form of blood cancer thats diagnosed. It affects typically more men than women and it is a disease of older adults so it usually affects individuals at 50 years old and older. We also know that twice as many africanamericans are diagnosed with blood cancer so that is also an important point that we want to get the message out about. Thats where reverend evans comes to play here the were doing an Aggressive Campaign to get out to churches get out to people and spread this message. So, can you talk about the partnership. Sure. The partnership is between the National Black coalition of churches and lls. And that is an agreement where the churches serve as its always been traditionally and historically the church in the Africanamerican Community where information goes out. It is a trusted environment, it is a close environment and so, lls has agreed to partner with the black churches in the washington metropolitan area to educate and to inform and to elevate awareness concerning this disease. So, how does this work . Is this a Pilot Program that you all have launched . Is it going to be in every church . How can people really get ahold of this information . Yeah, it is a pilot right now. D. C. Is one of the pilots. We also pilot in atlanta and the program our pilot is multifacted. We actually have myeloma sunday sermons so there will be specific churches throughout the year, here in d. C. That will be having that sermon and that trusted a trusted Healthcare Community will present a health alert about myeloma and how to get more information and connect with the leukemia and Lymphoma Society support and well be on hand to provide information and resources. One of the best things we can do is provide a way to connect and get information. We have Amazing National information specialists that can connect with patients and their caregivers and give them the most up to date disease and treatment information, Clinical Trials and various available resources so that is one avenue, and then well be building out education programs, support groups, resource guides so its really an entire approach. Just so many resources for people and that is such good news. What can people in the community do to take part or be active and be involved in learning more about this . Well, i would say that we could make ourselves available to every opportunity that comes our way. In our churches, if thee is an a publishing that theres an event for the lls, then i think that the community should take ad vantage it. Get involved, right. Get involved, be a part of it, come out and see what is going on. Because that information is powerful. Uhhuh. And they will be able to share that information with their friends, community and others. Yup, it takes everybody to do their part, right. Thank you so much. Any final thoughts or resources that you and want to get out there, web sites. Yeah, certainly if anyone is touched by any type of blood cancer the leukemia and Lymphoma Society is certainly here to help. You want to let everyone know and they can call our information specialists at one8009554574572. Fox5 contributor Sarah Frazier is back with this week with some love in order. Well start off with this first one about the young man who is posting inappropriate stuff to facebook. Uhoh. My question yes. What is a 10yearold doing on facebook number one. Okay. Number two, what are these inappropriate postings. Right. So, every week we get in questions from viewers and you can always email me at sarah at hey fraiz. Com. This one says my 10yearold nephew has a facebook page. I told his mother who doesnt seem to think its an issue. Hes posting things that i dont think is appropriate. My sister has done nothing to on facebook you are supposed to be 13 or older. Am i meddling. Thats going to cause so many problems. What is he posting do we know . No, the listener didnt say. I think its more of an issue of the fact that hes 10. Theyre not of age. So ive talked to a lot of people like this and the argument is there are kids that fudged their birthday and set up their own facebook account down. That in itself is wrong or as long as you are monitoring them its fine that theyre on social media . What do you guys think. I dont know, im not a parent and i mean and annie will deal with this sooner rather than later im sure. I know. Because its tough. Where do you draw the line and what are the age restrictions and for Something Like that, you know, its not like its a law, you cant facebook. How do you handle it as a parent . . Well, ava will not be getting any social media. Im not kidding you until she is much older later in here teens and well have a serious talk about the repercussions and how serious this is because once you out there, and you even delete it, seconds later its still screen shot its out there forever in the twitterverse or whatever you want to you will calto call it. In this case i wat is he posting is it harmless thing but its right its the principle he shouldnt have facebook. Would you report him on that. I may anonymously send facebook i get shes trying to approach the system. Or like im going to go to facebook sis. Dont do it. I may have to meddle. I may step out of my lane for that one to protect my nephew. I know, i have a 10yearold niece, too and we deal with this. She has a musically account. An eightyearold niece. She has a lot of people following her but she has no idea who those people are that are following her. She needs to set that to private. Shes not allowed to post any photos. Heres pie thing. I think i wouldnt as much as i dont like this, i would not report it unless it became a the mother really had no sense, you know what im saying, and then i think i would probably go, okay, obviously for the sake of this child the mom might not really realize what the ramifications social media are which i think a lot of people are facing and then i would do it. Im reporting him. [laughter] im not a rule breaker. Go annie. What do you got for us next. This is an interesting story thats been getting a lot of discussion all week long. Thinks is a really cool company, thinks was developed by a woman its a menstrual underwear. Its kind of revolutionized kind of like depends. Kind of like depends. For men station. That time of the month. Im sorry, i know its early. Great concept. Well leave you there. But the ceo is in a lot of trouble. She wanted to create this company where you could have open conversations about everything. Okay. Everything from that time of the but now shes being sued by Sexual Harassment by some of herrer coworkers who say she went too far. My question is if you sign on for a job where you know its going to be an anything goes environment, can you then come back and go, actually, that was too much . No, not if you sign up for that. It depends on the language with the hr department, right, with the policy and the paperwork sh that you and signed. That was an issue. They had a very tiny hr department. [laughter] well, you learned your lesson. Like if that started to become a thing here, you know, we didnt sign up for anything like that or any workplace by the way where you dont sign up for that, instantly becomes a problem its not pc and go to hr yes, i understand it but if you sign up for it. If you sign up to have questions about sex and periods in the workplace and then youre upset about it, doesnt make sense. Theres a lot more to this story. She would go into great detail about her own personal life and personal exploits which a lot of people felt very uncomfortable about. Tmi. Ad also a lot felt like she was beginning to comment on others bodies, and thats where thats where she took it too far. Yeah. But its just a fascinating concept because you have a lot of other Small Businesses popping up that are designing their own Workplace Environment so, you know, how does that work if you sort of know what youre getting into. Yeah, maybe this will serve as an example to those other Small Companies starting out. Dont you think the reality is you just cant even though we all want to wok in an environment where sort of anything goes i feel like at the end of the day you cant. People get offended. People get offended. Absolutely. I know its like we would love that but then it really happens. We all have different thresholds and you cant measure that in a workplace. That is a very tricky one. Thats why everyone gives me a hard time. I go to bed at 8 00 and thats fine because nothing good ever happens after 8 00 p. M. I thought that was midnight but i guess for sarah is eight. In my world its 4 oclock. Thank you so much. Thank you sarah. You look way. Dont you love her hair. I love it. In our suvs, you feel every mountain weve ever conquered. So the sport is really played with two teams, five on five, theyre used to be a magazine called five on five but its one jammer which you will see is that there will be a star on the persons helmet. There will be four blockers which is my position. Gamer is a jammernd is also a jammer. The jammer is the only person who can make points and what essentially happens is that the jammer is released at the whistle and then the blockers have to stop the opposing jammer from getting through. Oh, this could get fun. This is like therapy. I know. And youre all on roller skates. We are all on roller skates the whole time. Part rolling part like a contact sport. Right. If caitlin and i were to hit the court what would our names be what do you how do you come up with the names. Maybe like home slice for me or something. I dont know.
